OT....Removal of Confederate statues and monuments

Well who knows how MLK would react if he were alive. He might be right in there with them

I think I know and I don't think he would be very happy with has happened since his death. I don't now and never thought of MLK as a racist type of person. I think he fought a great battle against racism. Alveda King, a niece of MLK, is trying to carry on her uncle's message. You see her on Fox News and she is a very thoughtful person on these issues.

I have to agree, roy.
And as MLK might not like what's happened since his death, I often feel that Jesus might not like what's happened since his death....that we have become fearful, narcissistic and judgemental rather than altruistic and empathetic.

I remember the Dream Speech and that young Jesse was there, along with many others. MLK had his demons too but was a man of peace at that time. His family that speaks to the issue try to portray this, as Roy mentioned.

Yes I know, but many of the people that marched with King have turned out to be fairly racist individuals.

I don't like the statues coming down based on a select few thugs w/ weapons to hurt others and with hate in their heart.

And today's example of the insanity of poli-correctness, courtesy of espin...

Ya I saw that earlier. This crusade has simply gotten OUT OF CONTROL!!!! Does this mean going forward, that even people with the same names as "undesirable" people in history will be shunned too? God almighty where does it end.....

I agree this is almost unbelievable. I honestly thought it must be a joke when I first saw it. What group of people at espn made this ignorant decision? They really thought this made good sense?

It doesn't end. The modern day liberal just isn't happy with anything, unless perhaps they succeed to make others unhappy.

The modern day liberal will be happy for a few days after they turn our government into a socialist republic. Then they will complain after 3 or 4 days, because that is what they do.

I'm just waiting for cemetery markers of Civil War soldiers to be singled out in protest if the marker reflects anything Confederate. Could this actually go that far?

I have a question for all of you. A few days ago a group of folks had a rally to promote free speech. Then a group of opposites decided to show up as a counter protest. Many of that opposing group showed up in hoodies with bandannas covering their faces. We have seen many, many left wing protests with people wearing masks and other items to hide their identity.

Why is this allowed? Hiding your faces to avoid identification has nothing to do with free speech. It has all to do with trying to avoid being IDed to avoid prosecution for the deeds you do.

I can't understand how the city fathers where these protests are being held allow this kind of behavior. Wearing masks to hide your identity is what criminals do to avoid being identified.

I just don't understand why this is allowed to happen.

Can anyone justify allowing these people to do this?

No I can't, Roy.....but when protesting in the name of liberal causes, anything is permitted.

There are Anti-masking laws in the United States, yet they are rarely enforced. Probably for the same reason criminals aren't arrested for destroying property when a protest turns into a riot. The USA sometimes becomes a pussy nation and it's been that way for a long time......it's getting worse. Now, if law enforcement started arresting every offender in these examples, the political correct snowflakes would have a field day. There's no end to it. Sadly! FWIW, the anti-masking laws where aimed in part to keep KKK members from wearing hoods.

Could it go that far? Are you kidding? There are some extremely radical and crazy people in this country and they seem to really have no limits

There must be a time limit or something, right? Or they inform kin and without response, it becomes state owned?

Good question. It's my understanding that the grave belongs to the person on the Grave Deed. I don't know what happens if the owner, next of kin, etc. can't be found, but it doesn't seem like the ownership would go to the state.

The white horse that the USC Trojan mascot rides is now considered racist because its name is "Traveler", as Robert E. Lee's horse was named.
We are in a state of cultural paranoia and stupidity.

The only way to stop this insanity is to ignore any one or group that suggests such crap as "this" except to reply F-off. That may be a bit harsh, but there needs to be a clear statement that enough is enough. Responsible people must stand firm and let the crazies see that they can't force their insecurities upon our nation.
