Trent Smith — August 1999. (OU Memory Lane)

During that time we lost to A&M, and I remember the A&M player asking our player why we suck so bad as “y’all have a lot of talent”. The answer was DEI John Blake, but that’s another story.

We were very suckified during that time and our first recruit was in August 1999; tight end Trent Smith; and he was an Oklahoma boy. The next year we won the national championship.

Fast-forward to today and we’re not out of July and already with 21 commits and a top 10 class in the nation. Perspective, sooner brothers and sisters, perspective. This longevity and consistency is what defines OU football. That, and the bottle of tequila I’m drinking—(a bottle of…), and hatred of the University of Texas.

Oh, by the way, occasionally, I post the 2-Deep from our 2000 national championship team. It indicates very few in our 2-deep were from the state of Texas. I think it came out to eight of 22 players. Just an interesting sidenote. If anybody wants to challenge that you will force me to go back into my old computer and pull up the note.

PS. Due to the tequila I am currently drinking, —-(a bottle of…), I reserve the right to be off by a month or a year on my calculations.

Recruiting Latest on Oklahoma's lone remaining DT target

With Brandon Brown off the board to LSU, four-star Miami (Fla.) Central DT Floyd Boucard is the only remaining uncommitted DT that took an official visit to Oklahoma during the month of June. So where do things stand right now between the Sooners and Boucard? I spoke to the blue-chip lineman to get the latest.

Alternative OT Option

@Parker Thune @Brandon Drumm
This young man camped at OU in June of 23 and received an offer after a good showing at camp. I thought I heard something about BB visiting him out in Utah sometime earlier this year but I could be wrong. His tape is pretty good, but I just think he was unfortunate to be on a team that went 5-7. His man never got the tackle, of course, that tape was cut to show how good he was. If, heaven help us, we don’t land Fasusi/Babalola (I think we still get one), is Austin Pay a viable option at offensive tackle? With Afalava being from the same state, maybe he helps land him??

LSU visitor seat locations? Where are your tix

I am wanting to buy tickets for the OU/LSU game but want to make sure I am in the visitor section. I tried searching the internet and heard that some of the lower portions of sections 402 and 403 (and maybe some others) are where the visiting band and fans sit. For those who already have tickets purchased through OU, where are yours sests? Section and row would be helpful. Thanks!

IMG type of school in OK

How hard would this be to get in the works? It sure would be nice and beneficial for OU if we had a primarily sports focused private school in the state. That way we wouldn’t have to worry about our home grown studs going out of state to find better competition and development in turn giving other Universities location convenience to recruit guys that otherwise would be locks for OU.

Week 0 College Football matchups/Bets

We have 3 games on the slate for August 24th

FSU VS GT

FSU is -12.5 -490ML O/U is 54.5 Odds by Fanduel Sportsbook. I lean FSU to win by 1-13 points in this game (+200), it is on the road at Georgia Tech. FSU lost a lot of production and Haynes King has proved he can play. I think FSU wins a close one.

Montana State VS New Mexico

MSU -7.5 -265 ML O/U 55.5

I like Montana State on the Money Line in this one (-265) New Mexico is god awful and has been for a long time. Nothing else to say about this game.

SMU vs Nevada

SMU -24.5 ML -2800 SMU O/U 55.5

I like SMU by 14+ (-320) per Fanduel Sportsbook. Nevada has been pretty mediocre for awhile now, this smu team should fly around them with no issues.

Overall I will be parlaying these three picks for a +442 odds, I will likely put 200$ on this for a payout of 884.67$

Would love to know your guys thoughts and I will continue to do these each week of the CFB season for you CFB and betting Junkies.
