Jackson Arnold

Watching Arnold perform against Allen now. He's playing like a man among boys in picking apart and running against a good Allen team.
I believe that the recruitment of him is OU's greatest recruiting story considering the turmoil after last year with Riley's poaching OU's roster and commitment list, and the transfers and NFL exits.
There was not the upheaval of OU's program when Mildren, Sims, Peterson or any other great talent was recruited.... not even with the Kerry Jackson scandal in 1972 that put OU on a three-year probation.
Clearly, Arnold won't redshirt. Not with his level of talent.
If Gabriel returns, I see it as a pleasant problem for OU even if Gabriel improves to a higher level of performance.
But Arnold represents the future of OU football as OU readies itself for SEC play and getting away from fielding weak defenses.
So much now is riding on Venables and his staff to acclimate themselves better with the current roster and have to it get better the remainder of 2022. There's still much to play for, bowl or no bowl.

OT: Todd Gurley

Really odd subject matter but I just read where he is retiring. Dude had 80 touchdowns scored in 6 years!?! EIGHTY!! Wtf?!?

"In his six NFL seasons, Gurley was named to the All-Pro team twice and the Pro Bowl three times. He was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2015 and the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year in 2017.

Gurley finished his NFL career with 6,082 yards rushing and 67 touchdowns in 88 games. He also caught 243 passes for 2,254 yards and 13 touchdowns."

Hope you guys have a killer day!! Let's go Yanks!!

Interesting Things I Heard

On the podcast, McCready and Siskey (McCready is the Ole Miss Rivals guy, Siskey is a national recruiting guy), they said Blake Shapen is out this week for Baylor against Kansas. They also said Auburn is going to hire the Utah State AD Hartwell, and he wants to hire Jeff Grimes as the next Auburn coach. So, a double whammy for Baylor this week. But Hugh Freeze is a dark horse candidate at Auburn as well. I didn’t link the podcast because they are all over the place, and the audio for this episode sucks because they were missing a sound mixer.

OT: RTX 4090

Didnt know if there were any other PC builders on here that were trying to upgrade their GPUs. Yet again bots and scalpers are ruining it for everyone.

I got really lucky yesterday on Newegg and got 2 by having a gigabyte windforce in my cart, which got taken out because it was "out of stock", but then added the combo with the $80 psu, and then it jumped me to the front of the line apparently and re-added the other 4090. All that bullshit happened within 25 seconds.

I thought this time was supposed to be different. I actually need these for my job. It never used to, and shouldnt be this hard. I had to take the day off to just stock track.

Anyway they get here Friday I'm glad there's no game this weekend.

New Uniforms for KU game

Evidently OU is breaking out new uni's for the KU game in honor of Prentince Gautt. They actually look pretty sharp. Hopefully these will motivate the kids but then again who knows what motivates them these days.

OT: Rings of Power...

If you're not watching this amazing show... then you must love David Hicks, A&M, and TBOW.

But srsly... this show is fvcking awesome. IDGAF about all the online trolls who tried to sabotage it before it even aired because they were pissed about it NOT being Peter Jackson's trilogy... it's just amazing.

Bezos and Amazon have nailed it IMO. Stupidly entertaining, and I love the building of the Tolkien mythology. It's just awesome.

Anyone else loving it so far?

Newest episode (ep 6) was 10/10!!!

What I would do on defense (aka I stayed at a Holiday Inn)

1. Simplify everything.

If the team can run and execute 5 plays, then they run 5 plays.

2. Personnel

Here are my starters

Halton
Coe
Redmond
Grimes

White
Stutsman

Kanak - cheetah

Woodi
RSJ or Rowe
Key (if healthy), if not RSJ or Rowe
Graham

On passing downs you take Coe off the field, slide Halton inside and Ug plays a rush end position.

Downs is first backup DE. Gentry is first backup corner.

This lineup adds a significant amount of team speed on the field.

Mistakes will be made, but they are already being made nearly every series. Might as well make them with a significant jump in team speed and an eye towards the future.

Friday Notes...

I'm told that both Heath Ozaeta and Jasiah Wagoner are going to take their official visits on Dec. 9 which is, obviously a good sign for the Sooners with some wondering if Wagoner might be wavering a bit.

There's also chatter that Josh Bates might join on that same weekend but that's not quite as certain at this point.
