OT: Samsung QD OLED

Looks like Samsung has entered the OLED fray. Anyone out there have one of these, if so, what’s your opinion of it?

I am still hangingon for dear life to my Panasonic TC-P60ST60 Plasma. Yeah yeah, I know it’s about 11 years old, but damn it still looks fantastic.

I’m thinking about moving it to the back room and getting an OLED, just wanted some info on Samsungs version, if anyone out there happens to have any.
Thanks in advance.

Chavis also followed 2025 DE Connor Vasek. I couldn’t find a rivals profile
for him, but I didn’t look super hard

Brandon Hall now following Odinjor.

Monday Night Idiot: Kansas

Alright guys, let's just get into it.

A few things I'm focused on - obviously, a lot of new faces, who really stood out from the emerging new/young guys?

Is Anton Harrison starting to get into first round kind of conversation? Is it THAT good?

The defensive line...did ANYONE do anything remarkable?

Finally...Danny Stutsman, where is the truth? Was he good? Great? Awful? I dunno.

Daylan Smothers interview

starts @18:10

First of all, Crest NIL? Those are commercial quality choppers.

Whatever the opposite of recruit your own problems is, this dude is it.

Lastly, he's the most criminally under ranked player I've seen in a while. Rivals is closer than the rest but 247... wtf are they doing over there.

WOKElahoma - October 19, 2022

Alright, let's start where everyone is wanting me to...the situation surrounding Austin (Texas) Westlake defensive end commitment Colton Vasek. The big-time pass rusher that took a visit to Texas last weekend - his second trip of the season.

Now, I spoke to Vasek following that first trip - for the Alabama weekend - and he was very dismissive of that trip being meaningful. Even going so far as to say 'I'm locked in with the Sooners, forever."

Vasek Locked in with Sooners

Now obviously at that point the Sooners were 3-0 with playoff dreams dancing in their head and clearly since then a lot has changed for the Sooners, the Longhorns, and Vasek as well.

The things to remember are the reality that Vasek didn't choose Oklahoma over Texas according to almost everyone, he chose the Sooners over Oregon. So has Texas suddenly leapfrogged everyone?

Maybe, I mean his lifelong fandom, the reality that he's a Longhorn legacy, and let's face it, Texas seeming to be finding its feet all add up to a potentially potent mixture in his recruitment.

I will say that the talk of a 'breakup' or whatever some want to call it, feels like an exaggeration of the issue. A flip may well come, in fact I think that's probably the most likely scenario as things stand today but as I keep saying, every day that goes by without it happening is a positive for Oklahoma. It gives the Sooners more time to regain their own momentum and get closer to what he has told me would be his next visit to Norman, the Baylor game on Nov. 5.

The bottom line is that the Sooners haven't lost Vasek at this point and a lot of the talk of Texas' confidence, are these the same confidences that were sure the Sooners had no chance the first go around?

"If this thing was certain, an Austin kid who grew up rooting for Texas. I mean if he's certain he's going to Texas - why hasn't anything happened," one source mused. "I mean, what's to stop him, he'd be the toast of his high school and his town."

Again, I don't want to get anyone's hopes too high, but the certainty seems a bit far-fetched considering all that we've seen of information regarding Vasek in recent months.

**Alright, the next stop along the defensive line is with Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett Rivals250 defensive tackle Kayden McDonald.

I spoke with McDonald for a while last night and I get the impression that the Sooners are probably in front at the moment. In fact, I think that's where he's at - though I want to be clear he did not say that, it's just my read of the situation.

Now, he's going to Clemson this weekend so there's plenty to still be concerned about as the Tigers have been the perceived leader for quite some time. However, unlike some 'final trips' like this, McDonald has given the Clemson staff no indication of his leanings and seems to be taking things at face value.

One thing that McDonald mentioned that caught my ear was the role of Brent Venables and his background holding great meaning in his recruitment.

"Oklahoma is unique, not like any other staff. (Having a) defensive-minded head coach really sets OU apart from the my other schools," McDonald said. "(My) mom created a spreadsheet so we are just evaluating each school right now."

McDonald also talked about something else that was singular to the Sooners - his time with Oklahoma president Joe Harroz.

"(I was) honored the OU president came down and welcome me to campus," he said. "He said OU needs me and if I have any questions I can personally call him."

Has any other school done that?

"No sir."

***Finally, just a quick note from one source on the situation with Lehi (Utah) Skyridge Rivals100 pass rusher Tausili Akana.

"He seems like a really good fit with (Oklahoma). There was a real comfort on his whole trip," one source said. "It's just about making him comfortable with the distance and making sure his family feels comfortable with everything.

"He really loves (Brent Venables)"

JA Will Be On Sunday’s Oklahoma Breakdown

This is for the bedwetters that are convinced he’s flipping. I don’t know why a high school kid, much less a QB, would do an interview with Gabe and Teddy, and then sign with another school in two months. I’m legitimately looking forward to what he has to say in the interview. Gabe said they recorded it yesterday, and will run it on the Sunday show.

Porter Moser at Big 12 media days

Nothing earth-shattering, but it is the first time to hear from Porter Moser since Sept. 29.

COACH MOSER: Makes a heck of a difference when you have guys that have been through your program. We have five guys back that were with us last year. So I think with the two Groves brothers, Jalen Hill, Bijan Cortez and C.J. Noland, we've got some guys back that makes all the difference in the world when you bring in your newcomers.

I thought these guys had -- we had a great offseason. Went to Europe. But those five guys are definitely -- it helps when you try to get to year two and move forward.

Q. You mentioned that returning core, just from an install standpoint, foundational-wise, how different has this year been for you?

COACH MOSER: It's everything. When you get there, you know, we were in a pandemic. So I was meeting them for the first time in June at the recruiting class. We had to sign everybody through June.

So just the difference of when they get there, just everything from our first practice to having five guys that have a familiarity with what we do and how we do it. And not only do you have guys that did it, it was the who. Jalen Hill and Tanner just really, really good leaders, vocally and with their work ethic.

And I know Coach Tang is going through it right now having to bring in 11 and go through it and just establishing those things that he does. And it's a unique experience this day and age with the transfer portal with having to have so many new guys.

But I couldn't be happier with the five guys, how they embraced and held accountable themselves and the newcomers right when they got to the campus.

Q. I also wanted to ask you about the transfer portal. Just overall what are your thoughts on how it has functioned to this point? And what's your opinion on players transferring within the same conference? I think it was six that transferred within the Big 12 this year.

COACH MOSER: My first thought on the transfer portal, it's a reality. I think you have to balance it with your program. I think for me, I signed some high school guys I really liked, and we added some transfer portal pieces.

It's a reality. It's here. But I think you have to have a balance with it and you still have to try to recruit to who you are and your style, who you are.

Transferring in conference, that also is a reality. It's happening with it. And I guess I don't have too many thoughts against it or for it. If the young man doesn't want to be in a program, you know, then he doesn't want to be in a program.

And I just think that's, whether it's inner conference or not, I think it's a reality. And we're having to just adjust with it and deal with it.

Q. What have you just seen from Grant Sherfield so far?

COACH MOSER: You know, this league is, as we all know, is so incredible defensively. Every game they just lock you up. One of the things you found you've got to have some guys that make some shots. You need some shot-makers. And Grant is a very good shot-maker, scoring at all three levels, can get to the rim, elite mid-range and can shoot 3s. He's really good off ball screens. Analytically he's one of the top good off ball screens. Six assists at Nevada. I think he brings a guy that can make shots.

Coaches call them "shot clock guys." The defense takes away what you're trying to do and then you've got to go sometimes create something out of nothing and start the domino in a rotation. And Grant can start that domino. He can knock down a shot at the end of a shot clock.

We struggled in those areas last year. We really did. We struggled at really having a guy just go get one for us at times. I think the really, really good teams all had a shot clock guy. I think he's one of those kind of guys for us.
