FIRE

You know what crosses my mind when we are in a situation where not only the coaches are to blame but the players just suck? The coaches answer for it. I hear time and time again firing any coach right now won’t do any good. Well I completely disagree…. And that’s a lazy excuse.

Firing coaches right now will not make our offense worse, that’s impossible. They are the worst. Firing coaches right now mid season whould install trust back into the fans that BV fkn cares. There has to be some accountability here. Why does every one act like these coaches are high up government officials who can’t be touched? Fk that. You can’t watch the same thing over and over and over again and not have this conversation on a serious level. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
I only speak for myself but I bet other fans and especially donors are getting reallllll tired of watching this crap week in and week out and there’s just 0 accountability being had.

Bedenbaugh and 10 thoughts

1) I am one of Bill B's biggest fans but today made it crystal clear that the o-line is the biggest weakness we have on offense. Based on his past and his stellar recruiting this year(If he can keep them), I might give him one more year.
2) Arnold should never have been benched. They should have pulled for a couple of series to calm him down and put him back in. He gives us our best chance to win and it's not close. Hawkins is nowhere near ready to be an SEC QB and shouldn't be as a true freshman.
3) Burks can dance it up in pre-game but can't play. Huh?
4) Things must be terrible in the TE room for us to keep trotting out #10. Can't block and can't catch. Nice combo.
5) I guess Sawchuck has packed it in. I don't blame him. He should be getting snaps. Is he hurt and I didn't hear about it?
6) Once again, where are Emmett Jones' guys? Freshman WR play all over the country yet not one of yours has flashed AT ALL!!
7) It's hard for me to believe that Brooks and EPL don't deserve snaps. We can't do much worse!!
8)Jacob Jordan was one of the very few bright spots on offense besides putting in the correct QB.
9) The o-line from Michigan State should never touch the field again.
10) I have held off believing it but I am finally in the camp of BV being in over his head.

Football OU notepad: Venables, Littrell non-committal on starting QB moving forward

Here's what Venables and Littrell had to say about another quarterback "controversy" along with notes on the D-line, Jacob Jordan and Danny Stutsman's message to fans.

Offensive Suggestion

The one thing that we can change immediately is tempo. Why go fast when we continue to go three and out and put the D back on the field?

Slow the game down on Offense and make every possession eat the maximum amount of the clock, play to the strength of the team which is our D. I am not sure what advantage going fast is when half our plays go for zero or negative yards.

And for cripe sakes don’t turn the ball over!

5 x Venables Mistakes (from a seat in Berlin)

1. Not ensuring Caleb Williams was paid the Brinks truck to stay. OU probably goes 11-1 with him at QB in 22, even with a trash defense.

2. Hiring Ted Roof as the DC for 2022 and 2023. He spent 2 years ****ing around with a sorry ass scab, that was sucking up a key staff position. Venables was the DC, we all know that, which took his eyes off everything else he needed to do as the HC at a place like OU.

3. Firing Cale Gundy, should have suspended him for 3 games, fined him, warned etc, not fired him on the spot.

4. Letting Dillon Gabriel leave, especially going in to the SEC, with a monster schedule. 2 Frosh QBs are just not ready, we are lousy at QB right now.

5. The obvious final blow here. The hiring of Littrell and Finley will be the death blow of his tenure as HC. Just so bad. Worst Offense in the country along with maybe Florida State. We do nothing well offensively, have zero playmakers. Injuries aside, geepers creepers we are terrible.

-Final Cut: in hindsight, Dan Lanning would have been a much better higher than Venables. Most of us wanted Venables of course, his familiarity with the program and with Bob Stoops got him hired. Lanning just gets it, young guy, no bull shit, intense and committed. Venables bull shits for an hour at press conferences and says nothing of note. Program is going backward. 5-7 or 6-6 ahead, although I do not know who can beat minus Maine with our Offense.

BV Contract Extension?

Pure insanity

Now has 45 million buyout

Why did Joe C give him that extension?

Following a 10-3 season in 2023, Oklahoma locked up head coach Brent Venables after just two years in Norman. The program prioritized stability amidst a tectonic shift from the Big 12 to the SEC and handed Venables a six-year extension with a total value of $51.6 million, locking him in through the 2029 season.

Breaking Point for BV?

After TN I had a feeling this could be bad, although I admittedly never thought it would be this. I didn’t think there was any outcome where BV could be fired after this season. Is there a breaking point?

Down 30 points at home against South Carolina…

This team isn’t winning another conference game. They are the worst team in the SEC.

What would it take? Losing to Maine? Not scoring more than 20 the rest of the way? Multiple shut-outs? No attendance for Alabama?

How does this thing get turned around in a year? The recruiting class is going to fall off a cliff. Current players will hit the portal more than we’ve ever seen (might not be a bad thing)…

Even if BV makes it out this year, in what world does he get this thing turned around? It will take an amazing OC hire and a massive NIL investment in the portal to get this roster turned around.

The future is really bleak here folks. Could be a long two years.
