Great Article to read

Here is part of it below and it is dead on.

It’s Year 3, and Venables still doesn’t appear to have an understanding of his Oklahoma program or the situation the Sooners find themselves in. One early fourth-down decision wouldn’t have flipped what became a 34-3 loss, but field goals were never going to beat Texas.

It’s unacceptable for a program like Oklahoma to be in this position at this point in a coach’s tenure, with zero answers on offense, a leaky offensive line and a messy quarterback situation of their own making.

For the second time in three years, Venables’ Oklahoma team was blown out by the Longhorns and failed to score a touchdown. That never happened under Lincoln Riley. It never happened under Bob Stoops. It happened once to John Blake, and he was fired at the end of that season. From 1965 to 2021, Oklahoma scored three or fewer points against its Red River rivals just once. It has now happened twice under Venables.

Softball OU softball: Sooners land highly-coveted pitcher in 2026 class

Story here on OU adding Ella Kate Smith to the 2026 class: https://oklahoma.rivals.com/news/ou-softball-sooners-land-highly-coveted-pitcher-in-2026-class-1.

Just a couple other notes. I've been told EKS was the huge recruit OU has had its eye on for months now. She's wanted to be a Sooner for some time, and this weekend Patty Gasso made it happen. She got Smith to Norman this weekend and got the commitment she was looking for.

Basically, OU feels like this is a pretty big statement to make in the 2026 class. They feel like they got the player were after the most.

I love football, but it's supposed to be fun to watch

The last several years have been painful to watch as an OU fan. Coaching seems to be nonexistent? What players can we point to that have gotten better over time (Stutsman regressed, Bowman regressed, RBs are all missing eyes, TEs can figure out how to block...)? At what point do we just say enough is enough.

I turn on other games and see Vandy beating Bama, Arkansas beating Tennessee, and other smaller school looking WELL COACHED. Shoot, man it's just easier to watch. Why?

Im kinda over OU football until they get their shit together.

Not sure what my point is other than watching OU CFB is supposed to be fun and it hasnt been in a very long time.

Football Pick-Six: Plays from OU-Texas that will define the rest of the 2024 season

Alright, guys, it wasn't easy... But I know you'll appreciate this.

We dug through the offensive slog that was OU-Texas and picked six plays that not only determined Saturday's game but will also be necessary for OU to address for the remainder of the season.

Where is this program headed?

Honest question. Does anybody here truly think OU is headed in a positive direction? A pedestrian 48th ranked defense(11th in SEC), two of the worst losses in program history to Texas in three years, and SOMEHOW one of the most incompetent offenses in CFB, at OKLAHOMA the epitome of offense and innovation for 20+ years. How do you destroy that offensive culture in one offseason? The only competent coach on the offensive side of the ball left for a HC job, and the rest are a joke. I just can’t believe how far expectations have fallen here since Riley’s departure. Imagine telling any of us in 2017 or 2019 that OU would have one of the worst offenses in CFB in a few years, no running game, no difference makers at WR(Burk’s and farooq are barely average), and an OL full of portal guys from g5 programs who can’t even block Tulane or Houston….There is no remedy in sight either.

Serious question. With the talent at our disposal on offense....

How can we have the most incompetent offense in the country? Obviously, the WR injuries have stunted us BUT

We have recruited very well
We have blue chippers all over the place on offense
We have way more NIL than 90% of teams out there

I'd love to ask these questions to the admins on this site, but there are just too many questions.

How do we not have a single offensive position group better than below average (D grade)?
How can our TE be SO bad at blocking?
How can our two blue chip QB's look worse than most non power QB's?
How do we not have ANY playmakers at ALL?
How is it that we have no real difference makers on the OLine?
How can we not have a single serviceable RB, with even avg. vision, that can hold on to the ball?
How can we be at the absolute bottom off college football in yards per play with all the athletic speed we have?
Maybe most damning...Why does everyone on offense look like they are scared to make a play?
Who is responsible for our offense completely flatlining after Lebby's departure?

This just doesn't make ANY sense. We've played some really shiity defenses this year and YET coming into today we were...

128/134 in yards per play
121/134 in yards per game
107/134 in rushing yards per play
117/134 in passing yards per game
122/134 in passing yards per attempt
130/134 in passing yards per completion!!
121/134 in total 3rd down conversions per game
128/134 in 3rd down conversion %

AND I'M GUESSING IT GOT WORSE TODAY!

I don't understand how this level of offensive putrescence is even possible with the athletes we have on the field. We absolutely have to be 134/134 in production from blue-chip players on offense in the country. Why are we getting nothing out of our players. Why has there been ZERO development. How is it that we haven't improved one ounce since the first of the year? How is it so obvious that there are no fixes in sight?

This all is mind boggling for how much effort we put into getting the best high schoolers in the country onto the field. We do the exact same thing on defense and we've become a amazing unit on that side. WTF is going on on offense???

I've never been one to say fire coaches, but I must say our offensive coaches are getting less production from the talent level at their disposal than any team in the country. BV NEEDS to do something ASAP.

DAMN...Sorry, I'm done venting
