Gundy

You are talking like a school girl. What am I selling? I have qualified what I have heard from Norman. The rest is my opinion. I'm not trying to sell you anything. You asked and I gave my opinion. I could care less what you are buying.
No I'm not, your talking like a school administrator. And until specifics are released, there is no way in hell, Cale did anything wrong. Pc has no place today.

Woody is just hardcore. He's a great Sooner. Ready to go into the fire with his homies.

Scottsdale is right though, Woody. This is real and really happened. There was a line crossed. Sucks for every Sooner fan.

Cale's still a good guy in my mind, but Venables was right to fix this situation before it got worse.

You jumped on the ridiculous wagon, god damm!

I am going by what I have been told by reliable sources in the past. So you think Venables would inflate the situation in a written statement in order to bounce Gundy? If Gundy came unglued and repeatedly commented then he is wrong. Does the punishment fit the crime? Not for me to say. Venables thinks so.

Cale's been invaluable and for him to go out like this is unfathomable. Stupid.

Ok we can agree on this. But it is what it is. If Gundy thought he was innocent he would have pushed back.

What happens if no specifics are forthcoming. What makes you think the general public is owed further explanation?

Gundy has resigned and Venables provided his statement on the resignation. There is no doubt Venables will be in damage control mode for for WR recruits. I do not expect much more from Venables or OU officially.

I'm on your side, dude. I'm just laying it out like I'm hearing it and summing up with Scottsdale, and both our stories coincide. Gundy is a gem. He just tripped and tripped a little too far to where there aren't hurt feelings, but there's also integrity. He crossed the integrity line. No one is happy about this, and he's not a bad dude. We wouldn't even field a team this year if Venables didn't do the right thing.

These kids deserve a voice. It's not about us in the end.

We differ in opinions as far as this brother. Gundy's episode has been taken way way too far and way out of context. Our world today.

If Venables let it slide what kind of message would that have sent the players? That they too can cross a line and nothing happen to them as well? Everyone must be held accountable for their actions, everyone. I just hope it doesn't affect recruiting. OU has been doing well and this could hurt that somewhat for 2023. Hopefully it won't but had this thing been swept aside or downplayed it most likely would have.
These Coaches know the World we live in today, you have to change and adapt to these players these days in what you say, how you say it and how they are handled. Coaches I had back in the day wouldn't last a Season without being fired for what they said and how they acted. Hell a lot things they would do to us in practice would have gotten them fired using todays standards.

We may never know the facts of what truly went down but Venables does and its his ship, he cut Gundy loose because of what he knows and thats good enough for me.

Think of it this way, you wouldn't read a rap songs lyrics with the N word in it repeatedly in front of a bunch of blacks nor would you sing the rap song with the N word in it repeatedly in front of black people especially if you are a white dude. Cale should have known better. Sounds like he lost his cool while doing it and thats even worse, old white dude pissed off and saying the N word repeatedly, no way out of that situation.

Well said.

These are kids and their feelings. It's not about us old farts and what we think is "rub some dirt on it" or actual ER situations. If the kids weren't comfortable, then that's law, no matter loyalty to a long time Sooner. School is for the kids. Not us.

When I was in HS and just out of HS me and a few other guys used to hit the clubs at night. 2 whites and 3 blacks. We were close and looked out for each other, always did. One night one of our black friends got into it with a bouncer and he was about to call the cops. The other white guy told him after repeated attempts to get in the damn car he blurted out "get in the car N word. Man I thought he was going to kill our white friend, we were all friends and always hung out together. Anyway there is a line you just don't cross. After tempers cooled they were friends again but never the same as before.

What if the offending player was white? What if the words were his and not rap song lyrics?
It's getting dicey and out of control, for sure.. if it's what I'm hearing though, it's not an "oh God" but more of a "come on man.". Even if you accept the latter, we (sooners) shouldn't operate in that realm.
