Ryan Day is the antithesis of Lincoln Riley

Day had to apologize for scoring a TD in the final minutes of their game vs Nebraska when up 45-17 (52-17 final).

Day doesn’t just step on his opponents neck when he has them down, he soccer kicks them like it’s a Pride fight.

Outside of the loss to Clemson last year his Ohio State team didn’t have a game decided by less than 13 points.

Impressive.

Texas President Doubles down on the Eyes of Texas

Texas doubles down on the Eyes of Texas!! ;o)

The players, band (LOL) and recruits can't be happy about this..

I get tradition and fans being fans but sometimes you have to make changes to adapt to the current day in age.. Maybe I'm wrong but this looks like poor timing to make a hard line stance on something so polarizing.

Per ESPN:

I asked Grinch about Pat Fields... (Grinch Zoom)

Delicate phrasing? You decide. Might be the meanest question I've ever asked, but I tried to be polite and diplomatic about it.

Alex, you talk about your best leaders should be your best players. Where does that leave Pat Fields? Outside looking in, you see the penalties and mistakes. But then you see he played more than 100 snaps against Texas, leading to more chances for errors, too. So how does Fields fit into the leaders equation through four games?

Grinch's answer? Read the story :)

*Fields is still OU's 'quarterback'
*Washington getting good

Rattler on Wease - 'I need to get the ball to Theo...'

See, Riley moving the press conference to Tuesdays means the Illegitimate Son doesn't get some of its goodies from the last two years when it was Monday and then post Illegitimate Son on late-Monday afternoon w/ some press conference news/notes.

So here was something I prob would have posted in The Son. Instead, it's Tuesday night filler. Enjoy.

Asked Spencer Rattler about how different the OU offense can look like if Theo Wease is as involved as he was vs. Texas for the rest of the season?

"I told myself after the Iowa State game I need to get the ball to Theo a little more. That’s one our best weapons right there. Me and him having that chemistry even before we got here… In that Texas game I made it in my mind I gotta get 10 the ball. Because I know he’s gonna make plays for me in this offense whenever we need him to. That’s a guy I trust more than anything throwing the ball to.

"He’s been doing great. He’s working on everything. He’s getting better. You should see nothing but improvement from him and a lot of the other guys throughout the year."

Wanna see if Wease continues with that No. 1 mindset because that's how he carried himself in the second half in Dallas. I can see him becoming an alpha more than ever could with someone like Charleston Rambo. See what goes down in Fort Worth.

Riley on Jadon Haselwood - 'He's well ahead of schedule.'

Figured we've had enough of a gap from Haselwood questions.

How close is Jadon Haselwood from returning? And what does it mean, how does it help the way he has remained so engaged with the program?

"He's doing very well. He's well ahead of schedule. I don't want to promise anything right now. We're optimistic. He's done a great job. You kind of lay out your dream scenario of how you want a young man to handle an injury like this and this is the blueprint for how you do it. In one day right after it happened where he was in the dumps and down, and then after that, he said all right, that's over. It's time to go get ready now. Our training staff can't say enough about the job that he's done with them and just kind of attacks everything. I think so much of this too is, I think physical side's a part of it, rehab, quality of the doctor, quality of the rehabilitory equipment that you have, all that.

"But there's also the mental side of it. I think he's a great example for, even when something doesn't go your way personally, when you stay engaged with the team, you continue to bring energy to what you can do that day even though maybe it's not what you dreamt you'd be doing, that you're going to be in a much better place mentally than maybe somebody that just 'poor me' the entire time. And he's done that. He has. He's been completely engaged. A ton of energy. I think it's helped our team and it's certainly helped him through the recovery of a very tough injury."

The psychology of Rambo

He came in with CeeDee...got injured(I feel for him)...watched CeeDee ball out like the Charlie he was supposed to be...feels like he got dealt a bad hand and “deserves”(ala HRC) for it to be his turn...hasn’t gotten bigger, worked on his skill set, hasn’t improved his game like CeeDee here...youth coming by and passing him up...he’s panicked/or still thinks “it’s my deserved turn”....he’s an underachiever.

When Bridges comes back Charlie should be first on the cutting block. Don’t stunt Mims to caress an outstanding talent that’s not willing to at least be decent. Am I wrong?

Wednesday Notes...

Alright guys, my bad on WOKE, I knew I'd forgotten something and just couldn't place it. But what I forgot was some chatter heating up about Oklahoma and early linebacker offer Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek's Terrence Cooks.

For quite some time Cooks and Oklahoma had been a dead story as Cooks seemed ready to choose Texas and he just wasn't connecting with Oklahoma as he once had. But late last week rumors started swirling that he might be more willing to talk than he had been.

In fact, one source told me that he suddenly reached out to the Sooners last week and seems open to hear what the Oklahoma staff has to say.

Now, as we've said all along, there's a real doubt about Oklahoma being able to take another linebacker in this class so it may all come to nothing but it's at least worth watching as Cooks liked the Sooners early on before taking a few trips to Austin and missing out on a trip to Norman when COVID shut off all campus visits.

I'm not sure where it will go from here but there is some renewed conversation between Cooks and Oklahoma.

How is your ticker after this year's version of the RRR?

I love OU football and the shootout with Texas is one of the highlights of the year but man on man I am not sure watching a 5 hour game is the best thing for my health. And I watched it on tape delay ff'ing through the commercials.

Can we get a few blowouts in the first quarter? My health would appreciate it.

I have long said that OU football is as enjoyable as sex but lasts more than 3 minutes. :eek:But 5 hours of this stuff with your lover saying yes, then no then yes, then no is a little much for this young geezer.

CB: Woodi Washington - 94 - Defensive MVP of the gamer, there was NO joy to be found over there.
DB: Tre Norwood - 65 - Thought he had decent moments but was trailing WRs a few too many times.

Reserves Average: 70.9 (780)

Team Average: 73.2 (2707)

My Team Grade: 74

Breakdown: I really came away pretty happy with my individual scores and didn't think there was a huge need for an adjustment. But I will say those scores changed a ton over the last hour. I thought the defensive line was largely outstanding and there is no world in which we live that Woodi Washington isn't a starter, one way or another, in the secondary.

Offensively, can we stop with the Erik Swenson stuff? It's GOT to stop.

The thing I want to give the defense for is that they just kept fighting, came up with stops in two of the four OTs and honestly looked like they were just wearing down in the fourth after dominating for three quarters.

At some point, there's a pattern there that has to be identified - is it conditioning or something else? Just can't ignore it any more.

But the bottom line, Oklahoma for the first time in three weeks made the plays at the end to win the game, to me that's growth even if it's really ugly growth.

Scoring Standard:

100-82: Playoff Contender
82-74: Big 12 Title Contender
74-65: Bowl Game Participant
65-0: 'I'll be hoooome for Christmas
