Dave Arranda

Watched his press conference this morning - always been a fan of this guys work: Dave was on the defensive staff of Utah State the first time OU played them (very close win) a few years back, he then went to Wisconsin as DC, then, as most of you know……LSU before taking the Baylor job.

His demeanor is not a fit everywhere -
And, I’ve always likened him the the character “Kwai Chang Caine” from the 1972 series “Kung fu” …….. But, there is no doubt that he’s a terrific football coach.

SIAP OT: Insane racing move, straight from a VIDEO GAME

Never seen anything like it. Crazy how many spots he picked up.

Thumb down option

There are so many comments and threads on this site that I don’t want to comment on because it’s a waste of time and bumps the thread. I know we’ve discussed it before but a thumbs down option would be nice to just embarrass the hell out of trolls and fans of other teams that come here just to stir up sh*t. It would also keep idiots from posting as much imo.

Early Bowl Projections

Have OU vs Cult Aggie in Texas Bowl and KSU vs. USC in Alamo. I have to say if USC gets the Alamo Bowl Slot there is 101% chance even if OU is 6-6 they are taking OU for that matchup. It would be the highest rated bowl game outside of the championship. The bitterness story from the media would be massive. Man Caleb would be a tough matchup for our d, but Lincoln in a massive pressure situation might offset it. There would be 65,000 Sooner Fans taking over the AlamoDome. It almost seems like destiny.

Orangebloods todays modcast say 'LETS BE HONEST' Texas was 'VERY FORTUNATE' to catch OU when they did

After discussing how OU has bounced back these last 2 weeks and making fun of OU at every chance they could... The Modcast is saying Texas caught OU right at the right time other wise the way they are talking it could have been another OU win... Now they are telling each other boy we were so lucky to have gotten a W... Now they are says 2-2 at best in the last 4 which is 7.5 hahahahahaha... I say KSU going to stomp a mudhole in Texas ass Saturday because it's been almost 10 years since KSU has won/shared the Big 12 trophy and KSU wants a rematch with TCU and if Texas loses they could do a 4 game losing streak like they have done before...

Hilarious they get a huge beatdown and 3 weeks later they are staring at each other and saying DAMN WE ARE SO LUCKY to have caught OU without it's QB and it's best Defensive player........ Login to view embedded media

Great (and well-deserved) press for Jalen Hurts

From NBCSports.com via Yahoo!:

The true miracle of Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

Reuben Frank
Mon, October 31, 2022

There are NFL franchises that spend decades trying to find an elite young franchise quarterback.

It’s the hardest thing in football.

Trying to figure out how a 21- or 22-year-old college kid is going to handle a ton of money, moving to a new city, the inevitable media and fan criticism, learning a complex offense, dealing with blitzes he’s never seen, a new coaching staff … there’s a reason so many young quarterbacks don’t pan out. It’s almost impossible to figure this stuff out.

The Eagles found that guy a few years ago. It really seemed like it.

Carson Wentz in 2017 looked every bit the franchise quarterback the Eagles had been looking for since they drafted Donovan McNabb 17 years earlier. Nine-game winning streak. Pro Bowler. MVP candidate. Huge role on the Eagles’ first championship team in more than half a century. He was 24 years old and looked unstoppable.

As recently as three years ago, Wentz led the Eagles to the playoffs and set a franchise record for passing yards in a season.

It fell apart for reasons we’ve all grown tired of discussing, but what’s really remarkable is that as difficult as it is to find that sort of elite young quarterback once, the Eagles have now done it twice in just a few years.

Jalen Hurts is a star.

He’s not just The Guy. He’s not just the Quarterback of the Future.

He’s a full-blown NFL superstar, and anybody who’s still babbling about his arm strength or how he hasn’t beaten any good teams or his decision-making or accuracy is just a hater who’s in denial and won’t admit what the rest of the world is seeing on a weekly basis.

The kid is one of the best quarterbacks in football.

Hurts’ four-touchdown masterpiece against the Steelers only put an exclamation point on what he's been doing all year.
Playing mistake-free football, winning football games however his team needs and putting up historic numbers.

Seven games in, Hurts is completing 67 percent of his passes and throwing for 257 yards per game with 10 passing touchdowns, six rushing touchdowns and a 105.0 passer rating.
Here’s a list of quarterbacks in NFL history who’ve been at 67 percent, 250 yards per game, 16 total touchdowns and two or fewer interceptions in a 7-0 start: Tom Brady, Jalen Hurts.

Here’s a list of QBs who’ve opened a season 7-0 before their 25th birthday: Dan Marino, Daunte Culpepper, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts.

And here’s a list of QBs who’ve had at least 50 total touchdowns and 15 or fewer interceptions in their first 26 career starts: Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts.

And a list of QBs who’ve averaged 12.4 yards per attempt and an interception every 50 or more attempts in their career: Jalen Hurts.

You get the point.

Hurts is off to one of the hottest starts to a career in NFL history. He’s doing things nobody has ever done. He’s playing at an elite level without making mistakes. He’s winning games by whatever means necessary. He’s reached an unprecedented level of consistency.

Seven games in, the Eagles are undefeated, and Hurts ranks fifth in the NFL in passer rating, fifth in total touchdowns, seventh in accuracy and second in interception ratio.
And here’s the craziest thing that’s easy to lose sight of.

He just turned 24. Heck, he’s younger than Kenny Pickett.

He’s just getting started.

And he keeps getting better, and that’s not going to stop. Because this kid is obsessed with improving, with addressing his deficiencies, with working tirelessly day after day no matter how brilliantly he plays.

Sunday may have been his finest performance yet, with four long touchdown passes, 285 passing yards, 68 percent accuracy, no turnovers once again and a 140.6 passer rating, highest by an Eagles QB since Nick Foles in the 2017 NFC Championship Game, highest in a regular-season game since Foles vs. the Packers at Lambeau in 2013.

It’s scary to think where this is all headed. If he’s improved this much from last year to this year, where will he be next year? What about in three years? Five years?

His ceiling is undefinable. His future is unimaginable. His potential is limitless.

At some point, Hurts will have a poor game. He’ll throw a couple interceptions. The Eagles will lose.

But those days will be the exception. Because the Jalen Hurts we’re seeing now is playing at a truly mind-blowing level. Week after week of magic.

It’s not a fluke. It’s not an accident.

This is who he is. And, man, it’s fun to watch.

Monday Notes...(UPDATE: 2:29p)

UPDATE: 2:29p - Spoken to some more folks today and it really does feel like this is coming down to Ohio State and Oklahoma.

I've been told Clemson and Florida do not expect it to be them and no one has even mentioned Michigan.

Now, I think most everyone is betting on Ohio State - though I can't say I've heard anything that is worth me putting in a forecast on him.

But everyone does seem to agree "it's down to two, it's Ohio State or Oklahoma" is the vibe I've gotten.

UPDATE: 12:03p - OK guys also wanted to note that I can confirm that Keyon Brown DID NOT visit Tennessee this weekend. I've heard that form not only Vol sources but also Brown himself.

He texted me when those rumors surfaced on Saturday and I just COMPLETELY MISSED the text.

So, that's on me (and again, my honesty will win me endless praise, I'm sure).

But here is what Brown said:

"No that was my brother he was on my page trolling he thought he was logged into his account," Brown said.

I know he was a guy that L'Damian Washington was by to see late last week and the Sooners seem to be in very good standing there and though I never rule anything out, all seems fine with him.

UPDATE: 11:36a - A quick note that you all will like, Anthony Evans did NOT visit Texas A&M as was reported late last week. I'm told he was expected but did not come though his teammate Johnny Bowens did.

So obviously that's a good sign and matches with what Evans has been saying about the Georgia visit being about taking his mother to a school she grew up cheering for.

UPDATE: 11:20a - I had a chance to check in with a few people this morning, including someone very familiar with the situation at Ohio State and was told that the Buckeyes also seem to be in the dark in regard to the decision of Kayden McDonald.

I take that as a positive bit of news but again we'll keep checking throughout the day.

ORIGINAL: I know everyone has been waiting for some Kayden McDonald information and I've chatted with several people tonight and thought I'd put together what I've heard.

First, I don't think Oklahoma is out of it as there is some interesting activity that makes you wonder if they are still hanging around.

That being said, my information is that he has not informed Oklahoma of anything and that's usually NOT a good sign. It's not a definitive thing but when you combine that with Oklahoma offering Markus Strong today it's hard to not make some connection.

I spoke to someone who had been in contact with McDonald over the weekend and was told that "I would think with the way he acts that Oklahoma has a good shot" before adding that he got an Ohio State feeling from his conversations with McDonald. Again, that was just one person's take but it was an interesting one and one that felt this could be an Ohio State win in the end.

What's interesting is that his mother has always seemed big on Oklahoma and has a great relationship with Todd Bates and co. but I'm wondering if all that will be enough to beat out the Buckeyes who feel like the Sooners primary competition at this point - I can't write off Clemson but a few people are SO definite that it won't be the Tigers that I just can't ignore it.

We'll keep checking around tomorrow as McDonald is set to announce at 5p (central) but right now while I don't believe Oklahoma is out, they also aren't who I'd be betting on.

Given recent events, user turnover, and division of "youngs and olds", I was just curious as to the make up of the members. Since it is rude to ask a lady her age (here's looking at you @Runway18L ) I thought we could measure it kind of like dog years, except using how many National Championships have been won in your lifetime.

In case you don't know and don't want to look it up, the 7 championships were won in 1950, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985, and 2000. It is waaaaayyyyy past time to add to this list.

Trolls, etc...

Guys, we've cleaned out some of the trolling and etc. that I think was fair to have an issue with and many of you had voiced opinions on.

That said, I'm now getting people who are claiming 'trolls' or whatever for people who seem to just disagree with what someone else said.

Trolling:

A) Bombarding people with the same messaging over and over again.

B) Saying clearly insane things for reaction.

C) Trying to wind people up, whether it's one poster or the entire group.

A guy who just happens to disagree with you isn't inherently a troll. Take a step back, realize you all want the same things - OU to be good, etc. It doesn't make anyone ill-intended if they don't see things like you do. It just means they disagree and that really will be ok.

PLEASE continue to send us reports and we'll look at it but try and consider 'is this person doing anything truly incendiary or do I just not like what they have to say?'

Also, I'll continue to repeat if a poster is taking way your joy of the board, ignore is an incredibly easy way to take that power away from them.
