Golding vs Grinch.......You Decide!

Now looking back at the Grinch hire over Golding (even though I believe Golding turned us down), which guy would you rather have? While Golding can make the argument that injuries have hurt them, they are absolutely loaded with talent. Im going to keep this as bias free as possible but it’s hard to imagine a situation where Bama’s backups in their secondary wouldn’t be sure fire starters in our current lineup. Thoughts?

One of the craziest things about last night

That Brooks run late in the game where no one touched him for 40 yards.

Iowa state was sitting so hard on hurts and him Throwing that they didn’t even bother to keep tabs on Brooks.

amazing late in the game that it was that predictable and that they were sitting on a hurts pass or scramble.

our offense doesn’t help our defense and our offense Doesn’t even know what they are. And it’s game 9!

Is it the heavy personnel that is our kryptonite?

How did we get figured out so quickly on D?

The blitzes aren’t timed right and rarely get home which is also concerning.

Murray is ok but he’s not flying around like he was the first 6 games.

only thing I can think of is that ISU and KSU like to go with heavy sets, extra blockers, and tall receivers.

And why in the F can’t we tackle these dudes like we did Devurnay.

offense shares plenty of blame too for keeping the D on the field all second half.

my only other conclusion is that JMT is worth 21 pts/game

Riley getting out coached or just hard headed?

For all of his accolades the one obvious issue is Rileys lack of adjustments to his play calling.I know most of you were screaming at the TV (like I was) as you knew damn well we were going to run on 1st down and most likely 2nd down. If I can see what is coming you know damn well opposing coaches do.

YES, it was working in the first half but it was obvious IS was determined to stop it in the 2nd half and they did. Riley i kept pounding the ball regardless of what he was seeing the defense do.

I am at a total loss as to WTF he was doing with the play calling in the 2nd half.

Friday Notes...

I've been sitting on this one for a little bit now but I'm told that Oklahoma has their first five-star official visitor of the season on campus at the moment.

The player?

Texas A&M wide receiver commitment Demond Demas - the nation's No. 16 overall player.

I'm also a bit sad no one noticed the Dominick Hill section of WOKElahoma (D-E-M-A-S) nor the paragraphs of Latrell Neville's segment (FIVE S-T-A-R) in today's Scoop.

But as far as more important things this is something Oklahoma kind of took a flier on recently and Demas gave them good feedback and wanted to get up to Norman a day earlier than expected - my initial information was that he would be in Norman tomorrow.

Initial Playoff Rankings a dose of Reality

This board is always split between the unrealistic optimist and the realist. With two PAC 10 teams, two big 10 teams, and 3 SEC teams ahead of us in the initial rankings, the hopes for another playoff year are almost certainly out the window. It is an out right shame, this team is more balanced than the 3 previous playoff teams. Not to be prepared for that game in Manhattan is inexcusable. There are not many teams that lay that type of egg every year when they are overwhelming favorites. Other teams will shit the bed here and there, but the consistency in which Oklahoma does it is just mind boggling. Kirby Herbstreit is right, even if Oklahoma wins the big 12 the other four major conference champions will be in ahead of them in the CFP rankings.

Bob Stoops is not going to Florida State

Traded texts with Bob this morning. He says there is nothing legitimate about reports or rumors he is interested in becoming Florida State's next head coach. He says he was in Florida yesterday, but just at the new Hard Rock Casino opening in Miami. It's shaped like a Les Paul. It's pretty badass. He sent me a picture. He spent the evening at a Dan Marino Foundation party. So he wasn't anywhere near Tallahassee making a deal to be their next head coach.

He's happy doing what he's doing now. But goes to show you how bad FSU wants a good head coach.

Conference Power on Selection Committee

I did a little research and put in their leanings and put the conferences in order of power. If they had possibly had more than 1 loyalty, I recorded it as 'shared'. Let me know if I should add a leaning not mentioned.

1. SEC - 2, 3 shared
2. Pac 12 - 2, 1 shared
3. ACC - 1, 2 shared
4. Big 12 - 1, 2 shared
5. Big 10 - 1

The current selection committee is made up of the following individuals:

  • Rob Mullens, Oregon AD - Pac 12/SEC
  • Gary Barta, Iowa AD - Big 10
  • Frank Beamer, Former head coach - ACC/Big 12
  • Paola Boivin, ASU professor - Pac 12
  • Joe Castiglione, Oklahoma AD - Big 12
  • Ken Hatfield, Former head coach - ACC/SEC
  • Chris Howard, President of Robert Morris University - Unbiased (Armed Forces)
  • Ronnie Lott, Former player - Pac 12
  • Terry Mohajir, Arkansas State AD - SEC/Big 12
  • Ray Odierno, Former Chief of Staff, Army - Unbiased (Armed Forces)
  • RC Slocum, Former head coach - SEC
  • Todd Stansbury, Georgia Tech AD - ACC
  • Scott Stricklin, Florida AD - SEC

NFL Should Create Minor League Football Franchises

1.) Extremely physically talented H.S. grads/drop outs could/would begin a financial career.
a.) Some lads are not mentally or emotionally, prepared for higher education.
b.) Some very able lads have no interest in continuing academic endeavors.

2.) MFL athletes would receive optimal football adeptness without time restraints/rules impeding fast-tract development. Rapid physical and mental refinement.

3.) Best MFL athletes (akin to Barry Sanders/Hershel Walker e.g.) could/would immediately be financially compensated according to ability. Lessor talented athletes would have no reason to be disgruntled.

4.) MOST IMPORTANT: College football programs would be for (4 year) scholar athletes only. 300 lb. linemen and exciting skilled athletes would STILL readily be available. Some would also go to the NFL, but most would be our future educators, lawyers, doctors, engineers, et al. Paying any college athlete WILL increase cheating in countless ways. All records going forward become meaningless.

OU makes a splash, offers 2022 QB

This is one to watch, as Riley and Gundy have identified 2022 QB Alex Orji as a target ... they offered at quarterback, which is significant. Freakish talent here with positive vibe on OU after visiting for Texas Tech game

Why we never leave the Big XII...

Just look at the current Nebraska football roster and the current Oklahoma football roster.

Nebraska - 6 Texas players (one is a long snapper) and way too many players from Nebraska!
Oklahoma - 40+ Texas players (I quit counting at 40)

Texas kids can play in front of their families at OU due to all the Texas schools in the Big XII, not so much at teams like Nebraska who really killed themselves with the move to the BIG 10.

So sprinkle in a few quality players from around the country and recruit Texas hard while playing in the Big XII and you have a winning formula.

We don't want to screw with that my friends..........thoughts.............anyone...............anyone........

Win and we are in. (Kinda)

However 4 variables could come into play

SEC title game - we don’t want and undefeated SEC team losing to a one loss team.

Oregon - If both teams win out good chance we get in above them. Their loss was better but it was on a neutral
Site to a team with the same record as KSU.

Big scare - is a one loss Ohio state in If they end up losing a close one to a top 5 penn state.

Performance - like the last few years OU has to respond and dominate.

Good news - lots of football left and we can count on some crazy stuff happening.

Even if crazy crap happens and the top 3 win out 538 still has OU at an 80% chance to make the playoffs and a 70% chance even if Oregon wins out as well.

I know this is more sunshine than we can typically take but until we lose another we can step Back from the ledge.
