BYU AD wants to join Power 5 Conference

NBC Sports reported the BYU AD wants the school to join a Power 5 conference. Would you want BYU to join the Big 12, if the conference maintains its current makeup right now? What other teams would most interests you? If BYU does join, I would like to see Colorado come back. I also would like to see Arkansas join since I live less than an hour from Fayetteville, but I know that will never happen.

Rattler's maturity helped by Hurts

Hurts on the field? Eh, debate all you want. Hurts off the field for someone like Rattler? Yea, huge benefit.

“Just his demeanor. How he handles himself with the team,” Rattler said. “How he leads the team. How he handles himself off the field with media, a bunch of different stuff. I've learned a lot of things about work ethic. His work ethic is great. Just a bunch of other things, but I can say for sure those two things stand out.”

Did anyone else root for Texas?

As every Big 12 team has dropped their bowl game to date, it not only made the conference look weak but diminished the accomplishment of OU winning the conference and beating Texas.

For the first time since Texas beat USC several years ago, I rooted for Texas to win against the PAC 12 runner up and 7 pt. favorite, Utah.

I always root for outcomes that favor OU even if it is Texas.

We can let the 2020 schedule and OU victories determine recruiting for 2021.

Recruiting to Oklahoma... It is just hard

The state of Oklahoma does a good job of producing D1 talent given our size, but it is just really hard to compete with the SEC. The Deep South produces an alarming amount of top tier talent. Unfortunately, for almost none of those do they want to come to Oklahoma. Given the bag men in the SEC and the distance of travel for most of those guys to want to come to Oklahoma, it's amazing we recruit as good as we do

OU Decade in Review: Favorite Conspiracy Theory

There is a thread on this over at the CFB subreddit, but it's like wading through a TFB open post for stories, and I am not trying to give my work computer the AIDS.

What're your favorite OU conspiracy stories from the last decade? Just to kick things off....

-Mixon situation
-Mike Stoops v Curtis Bolton (RRR 2018)
-Mike Stoops v Julian Wilson (Baylor game 2014)

Observation

It feels like we have been over achieving with average teams which is why we get smoked in big games. For example...This team is probably more like a 7-5 or 8-4 team that keeps getting to the playoffs because of schemes, strategies, a couple of breaks and the fact that the Big 12 doesn't offer elite competition. We're a neighborhood bully that keeps getting thumped with each attempt at the MMA. If we can keep recruiting good and keep Grinch I believe we can get there. We're at least 2 more seasons away though.

What would Saban had done?

If he were coaching OU last night, would he have pulled Hurts again like he did at Bama? It seemed a strange situation for LR. This kid was pulled once on the big stage. Does he do it again? Surely that didn't settle in his mind. Surely he'd put the team before an individual, right? I mean when you see that it is over, and it was over at half time, you try and mix it up - do something to bring a spark. Even if Rattler sucked, at least you tried and then put Hurts back in.

I'm just glad this season is over, Hurts is gone, most of FUMS recruits are fading away, and OU can become what it needs to become - a champion again.

Anyone tired of reading that LSU is recruiting harder?

Last night was a vivid picture of how far below the top 3 teams our talent level is currently. Yet we hear too recruits frequently saying “LSU is recruiting me the hardest.” We hear the same about several teams that are getting better recruits than we are. What’s it gonna take for our coaching staff to see that they need to out-work the competition on the recruiting trail if they want to upgrade the talent and compete on the field against the top teams?
THAT issue is what most concerns me about LR and this staff. That approach to recruiting is what got us into this ditch to begin with.
