Home sweet home...

Gentlemen,

Good to be back. I'm excited to be on the board and contributing like I had been for almost a decade. I currently own an insurance agency and do a lot of business coaching, but plan on checking in daily and writing up some good summer time stories from 'yesteryears' and spend time breaking down some of Schmidtys philosophies for summer overall and position groups.

As we get closer to Fall Camp and actual season...I'll be going back to my "Ten Thgts" after scrimmages and games and some pre-game scouting reports based upon key players and film I get to watch.

Anything else you guys specifically wanna chew on, let me know...and I'll do my best to accommodate.

Also Barry and I will be podding at least once a week during summer. If you guys have stuff you'd like us to hit on...let us know and we'll be sure to do so. My goal is to be a major value add here. I love the program and am grateful to be back here. Those who know me know I try to stay humble and usually won't talk about things I don't know. I like to mix it up a little bit, so come correct if you disagree with my take (I absolutely make bad/wrong takes).

Anyway...salute. im going to do my best to get some of my boys up in here as well. Get things rolling on this board.

With the Lole decommit, how long?

How long is it before college programs have these kids signing legal binding contracts? Like maybe Lole did already, I'm not sure, but still. When kids start jumping around like this and this is just the beginning of breaking a "commitment", who's ego gets hurt enough to start pushing the NIL deal is on paper, a full fledge contract, with legal ramifications if such "athlete" breaks that? Something to watch in the future. On a side note pertaining to this topic, my daughter is pursuing a sports management degree. I have told her go on and get your law degree because the next 20 years is going to need people who serve as legal reps (agents) for these big time college athletes. Any opinions? Work done for the day so thinking!!

OU Softball “playing with a different swagger” right now

After last night’s 13-2 loss to Oklahoma, BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said there was something different about facing the Sooners this time around.

That aligns perfectly with what we’ve heard from Patty Gasso this week.

Anyone see lard ____ Ketchum stating OU is no longer a rival and its now A$M

Because before OU has taken the Golden hat (OR) put the Big 12 trophy in the Switzer center 17 of the last 24 seasons..and before OU started in 2000 A$M had beaten Texas 14 of 17 seasons from 1984-1999.. So for 41 seasons OU and A$M has been wearing Texas out..Also he no one cares that OU won in Dallas or how OSU was 122nd in TOTAL DEFENSE or 123rd in PASSING YARDS ALLOWED...and supposedly OSU's RB is a Heisman contender...but is I was 67th in RUSHING OFFENSE....He also said OU has to prove we are SEC ready... After all these other series where Texas has Bern smacking OU and we go to Dallas and crap that. .We better win...

DrummBeat: Note on SFA transfer DT Brandon Lane and Oklahoma | Can OU beat out others for upcoming visits? (Thurs 4:45 PM)

Okay, so I have exchanged texts with the transfer DT Brandon Lane today. He has become a hot name for OU after Jermayne Lole flipped to Texas.

What I can tell you so far is that Lane will be “hopefully visiting OU sometime next week,” the transfer DT told me a this afternoon. However, it’s not that simple. More on that below.

Lane also added, “I am still looking through things, but OU is an option I am learning more about so I hope to visit soon.”

The bigger issue is that he only wants to take two visits and he’s choosing between OU, LSU, USC, Colorado and Minnesota right now.

“I should have that out on social media by tomorrow or Saturday sometime,” Lane said of visit date announcement. “The hold up on visits was because I had graduation so I want to have it lined up and visits started by Sunday. All are trying to get in that spot right now, though.”

Lane is confident and feels he is ready to take that step up in competition, as well as immediately help his next team.

“I am bigger, stronger, more mature, faster and more developed,” Lane said. “I am ready to come into whatever school I choose and compete and help them from day one.”

As far as where things stand with Oklahoma and Coach Todd Bates, I do feel as if OU has a decent chance for the visit to take place, but he is still hearing overtures from multiple programs as of the time of this note.

I will say that Lane did tell me that those two visits will make things over quickly and he hopes to be done with the process in the next 5-7 days.

“Just not wanting to go through all the recruiting this time around.”

Stay tuned.

DrummBeat: Intial note on Lole’s surprising flip to UT (UPDATE 12:55 PM)

Update 12:55 PM

After discussions with a bunch of sources, it became clear that Lole saw a better chance to see the field, along with UT offering more money than OU, much like what was said in my initial update.

It wasn’t easy for UT, though. To begin with, Texas wasn’t getting Lole to bite on the NIL deal — even if it was more than OU. After a bit, Lole saw the difference and the fact it came with potentially more PT and that ultimately is what turned the tide.

Make no mistake about it, the Sooners’ staffers aren’t thrilled with this turn of events.

At the end of the day, Oklahoma still feels great about the NT/DT room so this was a blow, but not one that OU can’t still be really good at the position.

********

So far, it’s a bit of a shock but rumors are that UT used money they had set aside for Damonic Williams to lure Jermayne Lole to Texas.

So why was this shocking? Well, Oklahoma was in California last week and did an in-home of sorts with Lole and his whole family. At that time, all was well and all was pointing towards Lole being in Norman when summer school and summer workouts began.

Again, the NIL portion is nothing but fodder until I can confirm, but the fact still remains this was shocking.

I’m still digging and Parker is as well. Will find out more and update you all once I get more info.
