Recruiting DrummBeat: 2025 DL target Brandon Brown note (Wed 11:05 am)

Look, I don’t want to get your hopes up here, but what I’m hearing right now is that OU is battling LSU for current Texas DL commit Brandon Brown. Not counting out UT, obviously. And for obvious reasons.

Most of the sources that I speak with (and spoke with again this morning) have LSU in mind when it comes to Brown, but the Sooners and Todd Bates haven’t waved the white flag on the July 5th announcement. More on that below.

Also, I know some have reported that it was gonna be a July 4th decision, but I spoke to a source close to Brown this morning and was told that he decided the Fourth of July should be “a family day.”

We will see if that stays pat, but the source I spoke with was directly in the innermost circle of Brown’s camp.

Source also told me that OU and LSU seem to be the two biggest players — even though Brown is still committed to Texas.

That part is interesting.

I say that because sources in Norman have some confidence, but even so, sources in Norman also are aware that LSU has very much made their mark with Brown and his family.

On the flip side, so has OU. But the question is to what extent, right? What I do know is that Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis have been putting in a lot of work with Brown.

“(OU) made a big mark on that visit and sold Brown, his mom and his family well,” the source noted. “Bates and Chavis have been really putting in a lot of work.”

I’m still doing some digging but this is one I would just be pleasantly surprised if Brown chooses the Sooners here. The family has kept things very close to the vest, but there is some LSU buzz out there. Just not anything I have been able to 100% confirm just yet — as far as decisions go.

Will keep digging and update as I get more.

Recruiting DrummBeat: 2025 Rivals100 OL Andrew Babalola note

Quick note on Andrew Babalola after speaking with a few sources today.

I have been thinking OU was more the proverbial a hat on the table than anything else, but I have been mistaken if my sources are speaking facts.

Now, I still am not sure that the Sooners are the top school. As a matter of fact, I think they are two or three. However, it’s not over and communication with Bill Bedenbaugh remains strong. So much so that OU doesn’t feel they are out of this one — for whatever that is worth.

So, who are the three programs that sources feel have the best shot as of July 3rd? Right now, I’m told it’s Stanford, OU and Michigan.

I’m also told that NIL will play a bit of a role here, but academics and the schools program that he wants to major in is vital for Babalola, according to sources.

Finally, I know you all are wondering if Mizzou is still a player. From what I’m told, the Tigers are still in it but seem to be in that second tier with Auburn.

That said, as long as the Tigers are still in play, I will always consider them a threat due to logistics and the fact Mizzou is also a decent academic university as well.

Just wanted to pass this along and will have more on the Rivals100 OL as we get it.

Stay tuned and back to my “family vacation.” 😉

INSANE Major Update: Warchant

Discovery is going to be a blast. The FBI doesn't take kindly to bribery, corruption, collusion, schedule manipulation, and a thumb on the scales affecting athletic competitions, with playoff spots worth millions of dollars.

Not to mention, all the sports betting implications of directly manipulating conference schedules to benefit one conference member over another. Over/Under Win-total bets have been compromised and improperly influenced by the ACC-Clemson email showing a pattern of misconduct and collusion by the ACC and its media partner.

I am told state, local, and federal authorities, the NCAA, as well as the Las Vegas gaming commission have been notified accordingly. Forensic Accounting is undefeated and won't be swayed by improper behavior and a corrupt playoff selection committee. Wrong, permanent, and unforgivable. And those decisions have consequences, as the ACC is about to find out.

It's Independence Eve, in more ways than the fireworks!
