I am about 4 people removed from my source and stated as much when I posted the same info.
Hope we are both right. After thinking about it for a couple of days, I would be excited about Brent.
Remember his energy when he was here?
He was always regarded as our best recruiter then.
And, I think his defenses looked porous because Bob reined his aggressiveness in the last few years he was here.
He went to Clemson and immediately started fielding top 10 defenses.
Only thing I keep going back to: If BV wanted to be a HC (currently makes $2.5 Million), why hasn't he taken one already? He's had lots of opportunities.
We will see.

I'll believe it when I see it, hopefully we see something soon. I would love to have Brent, if not then Dan Lenning the Georgia DC. After that Matt Rhule if he had any interest coming back to college. Rumors are everywhere and until something is announced, that is all they are.

My question is this: we know Brent did well at Clemson as the DC but here he’d be the HC. Who would he be bringing as his OC and DC? To me it seems like the kids these days need to know that more than they care who the HC is. It’s all about me attitudes. What OC am I going to be coached by etc.

Yes. Venables is on the road recruiting today, and he has more recruiting visits scheduled for Clemson the next few days. If Swinney was confident that Venables was going to be the next head coach at Oklahoma he would not be on the road recruiting for the Tigers.

So hopefully, "The Norman Police Force" won't waste too much overtime waiting for him to show up.

Joe C touched on the fact the other day that if it takes longer than anticipated it could be a guy that has a CCG left or a Playoff Game to Coach in. I immediately thought Aranda but if he was going anywhere I thought it would be LSU. At this point its anyones guess.

Ya I can't see it being either of them either. At least I hope. Deano is now saying that they are waiting til after this Saturday to interview Fickell. I say its either Fickell, Venables, or Beamer.

I don't respond to speculation threads; I respond to "confirmed" threads that do not have any corroborating evidence. You know, like the ones from a couple of days ago that "confirmed" Brent Venables was at the airport and on his way to the press conference. Totally bogus, unless something happened and he's been hiding out in a broom closet at Will Rogers World Airport for the past two days.

I couldn't find any info on Kiffin getting a raise or extension recently. I read he is making 4.5 to 5 mil currently and an extension or raise would happen after they know which Bowl Game they are going to.
Everyone in Miss believe Kiffin won't be going anywhere unless its for the NFL as a HC but thats what everyone thought about LR as well.

Rhule is ripe for stepping into the job. He’s not doing well in the pros because he doesn’t have a great quarterback or enough solid players. He makes $8.8M which is a number OU can top, IMO. He has recruited well in Texas and been successful building a college program so coming in at OU should be a positive for him. He could bring pro assistants. A lot great opportunities for OU and him in the SEC. Saban didn’t do well as a pro. Lou and Pete didn’t either. College is better for guys like Rhule.

No thanks, he didn't exactly tear it up on defense when he was here before.
I think he is making 2.5 mil at Clemson, I doubt OU would top that for a DC and doubt he would come back to make the same he is currently making. Maybe he is holding out at Clemson until Saban retires. Dabo to Bama and Venables gets HC at Clemson. Speculation of course.

His name has been mentioned before with HC searches, Arkansas was one a few yrs ago and a few others I forget. Maybe he interviewed for some and it just wasn't the right time or place for him or the Schools felt the same way after interviewing him and went with someone else. Maybe he just has no desire to be a HC and is content with where he is right now.
Not a chance that he has not been contacted by quite a few after winning 2 National Titles while DC at Clemson.
