Recruiting day thoughts

Just now getting his players?? Was he just being coy the last two years??
You know what I mean. He has been playing with mostly Mack B players. He kick a lot off the team. Had at least 10 freshman play last year.

Good excuse. texASS still sucks. 5-7 followed by? 5-7. No bowl. Give ol' Charlie credit though, he's a bit better than John Blake, yet not as good as Howard Smellmyburgers...

Oh, not to forget, every time I look off of I-35 south in Austin, I see the name of an OU All American on Uterus' stadium. Fact is, the only coaches to win a NC at Uterus Whorndom have ties to OU.

Damn those facts... bites you in the ass every time...

CS has only been there 2 years

Gramps look at what Harbaugh did at Michigan his first year. Look at what our coach did his first year. Saban, Meyer as well. There is no excuse to not come in and win right away in Austin. You guys are delusional, not happenin with Mr. Strong.

We will see.

What would OU be if it wasn't for the Texas players they have gotten over the years?

Personally speaking, I'm all for recruiting Texas. I think it's important that even the kids from Texas have a chance to be Champions.

Gramps, how many players from that UT class of 2012 even ended up staying with UT their entire college career? Or were many of them part of the players that got booted by Strong?
There r 5 that r gone.
Brewer xfr
Estelle kicked off

jones kicked off

Overstreet xfr

Riser kicked off
Brown nfl

Sanders kicked off

Thomas xfr.

CS had to clean up Mack B mess. I probably miss some.
This just from the 2012 class.

Here is Texas players now. Not counting the new class.

I'm not a big fan of the national recruiting effort. We got away from our bread and butter and it shows.

OU doesn't recruited Texas like it use too.
4 of the 5 commitments for OU in 2017 are Texans. The other one is an Oklahoman.
2016 was only one exception of OU not getting so few Texas boys. OU recruited 11 last year, 7 in 2014, 13 in 2013, 5 in 2012, 12 in 2011 and 17 in 2010.
No doubt that OU has a more challenging job recruiting Texas talent with Baylor and TCU rising to their current levels, Texas starting to return to better days, Houston ascending and Texas A & M opening up the state for the SEC. OU can overcome these things by beating Texas, TCU and Baylor more often....that is, by taking care of business on Saturdays in the fall.

I also consider Kyler Murray, from Texas, as a 2016 "recruit".
He will not play this year but his presence will be felt by having the defense defend against him in practices in 2016. That has to be a plus for OU both offensively and defensively.
Personally, I believe that barring injury, Murray is the starting quarterback in 2017.

And Harbaugh did it without playing the race card.

Pay your ten bucks and you can go read it here on the pay board. Multiple recruits talked to the staff writers here about it. Mostly it was about his staff being dominated by AA coaches while OU had the SAE video.

Guys like Quentin Griffin? No D1 school offered him, except OU. Not Uterus, not aTm, not even Baylor, when they totally sucked.

How about Daniel Brooks out of Port Lavaca? Who offered him? Did Uterus? Nope. Did aTm? Nope.

Ah, those damn facts again. Texas has too many quality players coming out of high school to not recruit there. Even if Uterus Whorndom got the top 25 Texas high school players, every year, they'd still suck, until you hire another Okie to teach them how to play. That is why they get better when they go to OU, it is the home of champions.

I guess you could brag about having the largest alumni base infected with AIDS... that's not something Sooners have to worry about since you whorns have that all wrapped up.

Mack NEVER had issues recruiting...he just couldn't coach. That tells me Charlir had good players, and has the same problem coaching Mack did...maybe worse

  • How quickly Texas fans forget their team this past year. My guess is Strong is in his last year. Why are Texas fans so obsessed with anything and everything OU?

I wouldn't exactly claim Mack Brown couldn't coach. Check to see how many 10+ win season he had in a row, winning a national title, plus playing for another one. He just underachieved considering the recruiting classes he hauled in every year. Compare Texas hauling in those recruiting classes back them to Alabama hauling in similarly ranked classes each year and the difference is striking.

I can't remember who all offered, but Baylor offered Brooks and he was actually a legacy recruit as his dad played ball at Baylor.

It's silly to think Texas will never be good again and then throwing Coach Strong under the bus so early in his UT career. He inherited a dirty diaper and it will take a few years to clean things up, which I believe he is doing. He has had to take a few steps backwards before he can go forward.
And for all I have read here about how lousy Texas is and how much better OU is, how come Texas has won 2 of the last 3 (2013, 2015) and damn near rallied to win in 2014 ? OU lost those two games to inferior Texas teams....and now, Texas may be up and running again very soon.
OU needs to play better against Texas so it can recruit better against Texas.

Not as silly as a Texas fan saying Texas has sucked since Strong took over because he's had to play with Mack's highly rated recruiting classes. Mack couldn't coach. He hired some guys that could, but he ran them off. And I'm someone that WANTS Texas to be good. The best thing about Mack was he had Texas good enough to help OUs SOS, but rarely good enough to beat us when it mattered.

Tony Brooks played for TCU, who didn't offer, neither did Baylor. Uterus offered early but wanted him to be a DB, a position he'd never played. The offer was pulled quickly. Daniel Brooks grew up a whorn fan and his whole family is as well, even his dad, although not so much anymore. His dad is on Twitter @bigfrog15 cheering on his frogs and the Sooners.
Uncle Donny played for Texas Tech in the early 90's.

I stand corrected. I met both Dad & Uncle along w/ young Daniel. I knew both played. Both are very big men.

They project by 2040 that Hispanics will be the majority populace in Texas. Remember the Alamo. I love San Antonio it's a cool place and I love Mexican food so who cares. Besides that I'll be dead.

The actuaries and following the trends of the fellows in the family...I've got 15 to 20 more years to 'entertain' you blokes...

Ah, good times are a coming!

No, incoherent. Meaning my brain won't care what's going on around me. Unable to comprehend. Old, useless and not cared about, except by somebody with the same affliction. And maybe their children will be helpful.

But I'd be very surprised to make it to 88 or 89.
