Parrish Cobb is getting locked up for armed robbery

FIFY. Duncan had a worse % than Seibert did last year in the FG dept. Ferguson was solid though.
Duncan had clutch field goals in the OSU and Florida State games....to enable OU to win its 7th national championship. In both those games OU scored only one touchdown.
Who cares about field goal percentages ?

Until OU gets the snaps and holds consistent it won't matter who the kicker is...

Seibert hit the ball well this year, much too often he was hitting the laces, or a ball laid at different angles...

Snaps were inconsistent, holds were inconsistent, it should be of no surprise when kicks are inconsistent...
I don't recall Connor McGinnis having problems on holding the ball for Siebert. No doubt there may have been issues on a few attempts however.
Several media people were saying (and I agreed) that he was suffering from a tired leg since he did the punting AND all the placekicking, including kickoffs (where he also had to run down the field or at least be in position to make a tackle.....which he did on at least two occasions).

LOL tired leg. Those guys back in the day played both offense and defense. They were tired! Didn't the QB used to do field goal duty too?

Sorry, I know that's not positive but seriously how many total plays could a kicker be involved in compared to an offensive or defensive player? If he's got a tired leg, they better work the hell out of him...his legs should be looking like Popeye's forearm.

BTW don't take offense CT, I don't mean to be a dick...I just find that funny.

No offense taken. I just don't believe McGinnis' holds were an issue, otherwise he would have been replaced......either way, Siebert's kicking tailed off as the season wore on.

Not really. The attempt in the Sugar Bowl was tipped at the LOS. His last miss before that was against ISU Nov. 3. Three of his five misses were in the first 5 games.

Misses were 53, 27 (hit upright), 49, 49, and 42 (tipped).

Incoming freshman KS Reeves Mundshau may determine how the coaches feel about having Siebert carrying all kicking chores. (I prefer Mundshau redshirting with Siebert successfully doing all the kicking).
After Michael Hunnicutt's late season problems a few years ago, it is worth keeping an eye on.
Siebert's kicking against Ohio State early on spawned at least three articles (Oklahoman, Tulsa World, OU Daily) to be written on his kicking woes and Stoops, who believed at the time that Siebert was okay with doing all the kicking chores, still had to reassure him to just "let it go" as far as thinking about his Ohio State problems.
Siebert finished 2016 with an 11 for 16 success rate on FG kicking.
As for his Sugar Bowl field goal that was tipped, that can be the kicker's fault as well as poor blocking if the kick is made with too low a trajectory.
With Perine, Westbrook and Mixon gone, the kicking game in 2017 will have no margin for error, even for one game.

#54 for Auburn made a great play. His leap of faith got the slightest tip of a finger on a well kicked ball. An eighth of an inch could have been the difference. From 49 yards out, trajectory has to be lower to have any shot at distance.

Still, hoping games in 2017 don't come down to a Siebert FG to win. Accuracy is an issue. Isn't getting fg attempts tipped generally a kicker issue in not getting enough trajectory?

To a certain point, yes. But it works both ways. If there is too much trajectory on a FG of 40+ yards, watching the ball fall short in the end zone or being returned are the alternatives.

Accuracy comes from several things. If it was easy, anyone could do it. It is very similar to hitting a golf ball. It is one thing to tee it up and rip a straight drive down the center of the fairway. It is quite another to land one on the green with a 3 wood...
