He is 6'1 235 fast and physical What a very interesting move by the coaches.

Also our DE Amani Bledsoe apparently will be eligible this Saturday

I have to believe that the coaches feel good about the linebacking depth to do this change. At this time, I don't.
Maybe they like what they're seeing of Terry, Gumbs (DE/OLB) and Jackson (DE/OLB) and maybe Daley gets activated from being redshirted.
Losing Bolton for the season won't help.

Wow!. With the depth at LB and starting a true freshman. This doesn't feel like a good move.

Or maybe they just didn't think he was a very good linebacker, at least not good enough to see the field, but could possibly contribute on the other side of the ball. He was in the 2015 class, and I'm thinking he may have been an early enrollee, so he's had time to "get it". Seems like a great kid, so I hope it works out for him.

I believe there is an element of truth in that 59.

I saw that Iowa State moved their starting QB last year (most games) over to LB. That seems like an even more odd scenario than this move for DeBerry. From all looks of things the Iowa State move has really worked out.

He's been a bust. I doubt we'll ever see him on the field again. Some believe that Riley doesn't want to pull his scholly but rather move him to 3 rd string HB hoping he'll transfer out and open another scholarship.

What little we saw of him, he looked better than a lot we've had over the years.

One thing that sticks out to me is his height. He's listed at 6'1"...my arse.
