The Republican Congressmen were playing a baseball game to benefit charity when an Anti-Trump shooter shot Congressman Scalise as he stood at second base. What is going on in this country?

TRUMP is whats wrong with this country!!
Trump didn't just suddenly show up and wreck the country. Trump showed up and clearly said a lot of things that a lot of American's were already feeling. So Trump simply spoke for a large portion of the country who were quietly ticked off about politics. That being ticked off about politics didn't just happen overnight. Just saying Trump is what's wrong with the country isn't looking at the bigger picture.

"Spoke for a large portion of the country"...he lost the popular vote by over three million votes. Please. He is the president because he duped approximately 77K people in four Midwestern states into thinking he was going to fix everything. He is a charlatan and a con man and totally unqualified to be president.

Large portion does not mean majority. And one state alone tipped the balance of the popular vote to Hillary. California being such the liberal stronghold it is. Trump lost California alone by 4.5million votes. That means Trump won the other 49 states (98% of the country), by around 1.5mil votes. The electoral college did it's job in electing the candidate who best represented the country as a whole. And not allowing the east and west coast liberal population centers to dictate the outcomes of elections.

And what exactly makes a person "qualified to be president" in your book?

Who in politics is not a charlatan and a con man/woman?

He spoke to a large portion of a certain type of people. # Deplorables!!

We are a divided nation in terms of politics, race, gender, geography, religion, sexual orientation and the division widens more and more.
I put this division on a voting public that is driven by fear by the media (ALL of the media, including the entertainment media) and a lack of knowledge and understanding of history.
These two main factors, in my opinion, seem to get lost by most people.....and they proceed to discuss and debate politics, which nowadays is akin to discussing the legitimacy of professional wrestling as a sport.
We get the "leaders" we deserve.

I voted for Trump and I'm proud of it. This country desperately needed a political shake up from the top down. He was put in office to get rid of "business as usual" and create a "America First" agenda. I've agreed with 90% of what he has done so far and I continue to support him and the office he represents.

This is the brain power that the left has riding in their wagon. It's easy to see why Felonia von Pantsuit lost. These braniacs nominated that bag of chewed bubblegum as their candidate after 8 years of Obama carving up the Democratic Party like a fat kid with a chainsaw opening a pudding pack.

I'm a former Democrat and I hope that somebody will step up to take the party back away from the identity hustling Obama style ideologues. Put them in New Mexico to keep the hot air balloons flying on the coldest days. Seeing posts like the one I quoted gives me no hope though. These people are eating glue with double fists like it's their usual mayonnaise.

You know it hit rock bottom when the sleazy union fat cats bolted to Trump, the guy who made a career out of shafting people in their membership. But I fear the current DNC leadership and liberal voting block won't realize they've hit rock bottom because they are too busy trying to claw through solid rock with bare hands looking for any fossils to identify some new species of victim class to catalogue, rescue, and put on display in the Museum of Obama.

Trump's treatment by the media has been disturbing.
His legacy will not be for anything good because he's shackled by opposition hatred, the likes of which have never been had for a president.
The shooting in Virginia yesterday by a Trump hater......following all the riots, the besieging of Trump/Republican supports in buildings, the looting and vandalism and the dangerous and vicious remarks made by the likes of Ashley Judd, Madona, Bill Maher, Kathy Griffin....are byproducts of the media keeping so many in fear. They attack Trump without acknowledging that it was the weakness and corruption of Hillary that lost the election for the Democrats.
And where has Hillary been in condemning the viciousness of the backlash against Trump, both during the campaign and presidency ? I guess a shameless corrupt mercenary hack like her has no room for any degree of statesmanship.

“He became the first person, Republican or Democrat, who refused to say that he would respect the results of this election. Now, that is a direct threat to our democracy.” Hillary Clinton

“I’m back to being an active citizen and part of the resistance.” Hillary Clinton

Surely you haven't expected to see anything but the crap I've quoted (rhetorical). She's a career sleazebag.

Forget Trump for a minute and consider how so many deified Hillary and all her "accomplishments".
I'm expecting Hollywood to make a movie about her "greatness" and her noble fight against the GOP and those who attacked her predator husband. My guess is that Meryl Streep will get the lead role. Monica Lewinsky will be played by Kathy Griffin in her comeback bid to get off her knees. Bill Clinton will be played by Mathew McConaughey. Al Gore will be played by Tom Hanks (think of a gay Forest Gump for this part).

The majority are political whores who will do or say just about anything to win an election. Not all but most. I am not intending to be sexist. It's just that "whores" best describes how I feel about today's Congress regardless of party, but nobody... nobody....deserves to be targeted. People like Madonna and Kathy Griffin have done or said the exact same things that the asshole who tried to kill those guys yesterday. They are guilty too.

Trump is a board room bully. I have worked for and with guys exactly like him. He is not used to opposition in his daily endeavors. There is one trait that is consistent with men of his caliber. Progress. No time wasted and no feelings considered. I voted against Hillary and Bernie for simple reasons that are obvious to conservatives. I am not impressed with Trump's egotistical ranting but if that is part of what we get then I can overlook this character flaw. The left wing liberal press or voice is not doing our country any deeds of merit by their consistent bitching about our president. Life does not always give us a clear path so let's buckle up and go for the ride. Some of you know that I am married to a Russian (now American), lived and worked in Russia for several years. The media induced "Russian" problem is a joke.

Medic, your post is an absolute masterpiece!!!:cool:

Greatness sir. But I do like Al Gore. I got to spend an entire day with him (as his personal medic detail) when he came to Norman for his the earth is dying show. He was actually funny as hell and very personable even behind closed doors. Quite the opposite from the usual elitists who only put on that show in public but are unbearable behind the curtains.

He had a smarmy staffer with him that he pulled a joke on. On the way to Max Westheimer after his gig (yes it's true, he travelled in on commercial flights but left on charter jets), he told the staffer that John Wilkes Booth was buried in a secret grave on the old North Base property right next to the airport. Told him the body was moved quite a few times over the years but finally settled at the old military base. He told him he knew exactly where the body was buried and would show him the non-descript marker if he wanted to see it. Staffer asked how he knew about it. He replied "you get to know stuff like that when you're a vice president." The staffer was obviously delighted to know a secret. Staffer asked the OUPD cop that was driving if he knew about it. He went along and replied "yes, because it's on university property and we are responsible for it." Cop even told the staffer that part of the oath of joining OUPD was being sworn to secrecy about it and he didn't want to talk about it anymore because he could lose his job. It was all I could do not to piss myself laughing. When we got to the airport we escorted them to the plane. Staffer asked if we were still going to check out the grave. Gore replied "No, I was just yanking your chain" And walked up the steps into the plane. I'm pretty sure that the staffer would have shot himself in the head right there if he could get a gun. I started laughing my ass off and told him to have a good flight.

Give me another Conservative Supreme Court Justice before he gets impeached or leaves office and I'm good. The rest is political theatre and fodder. The Supreme Court Justices are really the key to any of this crap. At least IMO.

BTW, Scottsdale, we are planning a trip to the Baltic next May for our 40th anniversary. I'm fascinated w/ the visit to St.Petersburg. If the visit is as good as the learning & planning, this will be a good time.

The media induced "Russian" problem is a joke.

It's certainly no joke. Yes our media makes it sound like Russia and China are the only countries hacking, but it's true that cyberwarfare is the new front line. I've read that the U.S. is actually the source of about 80% of hacking (questionable sources), but Russia contributes nearly the remaining 20% (China is involved but not like Russia).

They are at a far more evenly matched playing field in hacking which is a major concern if you believe that this is the future war. Militarily, the U.S. still spends nearly the same amount as the rest of the world (U.S. expenditure is 611B vs 1.6B for the world, only 69B for Russia).

The bigger issue is that there's almost no barrier to entry in the hacking market, so at some point, you can't say, "Well we have more advanced hacking."

I legally can't talk about specifics, but there is a reason the U.S. government is investing heavily in and extremely concerned about the race towards quantum computing. I'm pretty sure the U.S. government isn't being influenced by the "joke" that the media is feeding them.

We're trying to win by increasing the barrier to entry.

I promised not to talk 'tics anymore during the WCWS so I apologize for my transgression. The one thing I can't figure out is why Queenie, with her record didn't have Bill snuffed when it's obvious he can't deliver anymore; she probably would have picked up those 80k (at least) sympathy votes...

For me it took watching the last year of Senate Intelligence Committee hearings for me to realize what a dog and pony show our government is. Really, what's the use of these hearings when nothing comes of them? I know, it's so "we can try to learn from this and prevent it from happening again". All a huge waste of taxpayer money and there is absolutely nothing any of us can do about it. Mueller would be better off asking Obama why he meddled in Israel's election rather than wasting American tax payer dollars trying to find something that they've already said didn't happen.

It's so bad that Donald Trump won the presidency. Think about it...

I agree bcsoonerfan.

There were two very flawed people running for president.
Hillary would have been a gigantic, gigantic, gigantic disaster and Trump is also a disaster.
I hope before he is impeached he does not get American into a Nuclear war.

Being a conservative Republican I think Pence is the man. He is presidential solid, and I even think our GOP Congress would function much more smoothly with him unlike what is happening now with Trump.

And whether you know it or not, Trump is not a"real" Republican. He has spent most of his life as a Dem.

If you don't mind me asking, what makes Trump a disaster (about 150 days in office) and worthy of impeachment? Are you reading Maxine Waters political newsletter?

I'm also a Pence man.

I believe that for the remainder of my life and beyond, our presidential elections will forever be like the one we just had. The debates will be more about demonizing the opposing side and fear pimping by both sides.
As for Trump, he won because of Hillary and her crooked reputation and because of our sociopathic and divisive leadership in Washington. Throw Trump under the bus all you want.....but remember it was the stench of The Left that put him in office.

Too many of you are already succumbing to the negative banter of the press in regards to Trump. The negative drumbeat has been beating so long and so hard that after 150 days, some appear to be 'giving up'. Typical though for most Americans these days. We are a fickle nation. BTW, the minute Pence is in charge, and/or is on his way to being in charge, the tide will change. The media and the Dem leadership will turn their attention on him and begin the same ugly narrative of demeaning him, his family, and his policies. He just isn't the man yet.

CT, if Clinton beat Sanders, Trump would have beat Sanders badly. Trump also beat all Republicans. He beat everyone that ran against him. We as a people can complain about him, but the fact is, the people put him in the office.

Hacking is a part of warfare now. Cyber Wars are real and certain for sure. By "joke", I mean all this bullshit about talking to ambassadors and party line people in Russia. Back channels have been a aprt of our system since we became a system and it has been a political battle field ever since. The liberal left media is "selling news" when they create these open air controversies that are nothing more than selling news. The USA got caught trying to manipulate the Israeli elections and little was said then or since. Our political system is often for personal gain. I think, as many do, that it's better to keep an open dialogue with Russia. I will admit that personal experiences play a part in my opinion.
