OT from the OT, but this post reminded me to share a couple of good Paterno jokes now that more evidence has been released that he knew of the sexual assaults for quite some time:

"They shouldn't have torn down his statue. They should have turned it around so that it would face the other way."
"The statue was almost 11 years old, so they had to remove it or Sandusky would come back and try to have sex with it."

Any one up for some donations for airfare to New Zealand for Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg?

I will cough up $100 for any spot on the earth that Ginsburg wants to go after Trump Wins.

Thank our lucky stars for "Freedom of Speech" as now we know what is in that woman's brain. It is just all far, far, far left wing hocus-pocus and she exposed herself for exactly what we all know she was. I don't know if Supreme Court Justices can be impeached, but she sure needs to be. What a gaff for a sitting Justice.

Any drop of doubt about her impartiality was thrown out the window with her Trump comments.

While we as a nation of people don't like it, and we think the court should not politicized, unfortunately, she is entitled to speak her opinion. She isn't the only judge to do so. O'Connor spoke openly & positively about Bush. Scalia went hunting w/ VP Cheney often. But this, imo, helps Trump. It gave him more talking points and reminds us how important the election is regarding the appointments of future judges.

I think the comparison is apples to oranges. O'Connor, as I recall, I don't remember her saying anything about a candidate during an election cycle ... I could have missed it or never heard it. What I do remember is that she discussed the Florida recounts in the Bush Gore election. She was quoted as saying the Supreme Court made a mistake in getting involved. I don't see a big deal with a judge hunting or playing golf with a long time friend as being in the league of what Ginsburg said about Trump. My guess is that a large number of Court appointees have lots of friends in high places so it is impossible for friends to not socialize at times. But, that kind of stuff shouldn't happen.

I think the comments Ginsburg uttered about Trump could cause her some issues as a Justice if Trump wins and the court has to deal with election outcome issues or as a sitting President.

They can be impeached
It's never happened though.
They had
Sam Chase on the ropes, the Senate acquited him.
They have to do something really bad, like running puppies through a wood chipper bad.

This is not going to be well received and it is the only time that I have ever post anything about guns or anything about this shit. Why can anyone buy body armor? Why does anyone need a weapon that can fire so many rounds so quickly? Why is anyone surprised that police officers are murdered while people parade around chanting "pigs in blankets" and other suggestive phrases about killing law enforcement people? Why has the world's most powerful leader decided to divided our country? Why do US citizens have the absolute worse choices in history for the next POTUS? Why does anyone care about anything except what will benefit the USA? Do you really care about someone from another country that isn't allowed to come and live in America? I could go on and on, but I won't.

This is just sick. Another three police officers killed today in Baton Rouge and three more injured. Something has to give here. I don't think what is going on here is a huge mystery. Some person commits a crime, evades the police and gets himself killed in the process. People get mad, some of our politicians fan the flames of race and we have a recipe for cop killings.

I put the blame squarely where I think it belongs and that in on the left wing demos who act as enablers in this mess. These killings by ambush aren't a coincidence. This looks more like an organized effort to target our law enforcement for killing.

It is domestic terrorism, pure and simple.

My brother forwarded a good email today. The message compared Illinois to Oklahoma politically. Illinois is all democrats running the government. Oklahoma was the only state without Obama winning a single county. I wish I knew how to post it. Showed you men and women have more intelligence than other states residents. Texas is Republican but the democrats the majority in Austin.

Well well, Brian Rice acquited on all charges in Freddy Gray case.
That's 0 for 4 so far, 2 to go.
What a travesty, using the court of law to determine innocence or guilt. WTF? The vigilante justice minded public already decided the case so I'm not sure why anyone is wasting dollars dragging this through the court.

To be fully technical, the judge that acquitted Rice did suggest that he believed there was civil negligence just not criminal negligence.
I haven't seen his precise words, but that says to me that even the judge believes the officers in that case were guilty of miscoduct, but the burden of proof for criminal wrongdoing was not met.

You are correct good sir.

Oh, this is really good. You haven't seen his precise words, but you do know what he was thinking. Well, at least you can feel good now. :D

Well this is good news for the 4 defendants, but the damage is done is the court of public opinion w/ 12 LEO murdered in the past few months, including the 8 in the past two weeks.
Make that 26 LEOs dead this year.
44% higher than this time last year.
Tell ya what, most communities allow 1 or 2 'ride alongs' per year per person.
Sign up for one, very enlightening.
So glad they're willing to do that gig.
I couldn't.

Well, Roy, before I can answer that, I'll need to calibrate my English with yours.
To be straight, I'm seeing that "leads me to believe" is equivalent to "know" in your language. Is that correct?

I did a ride along w/ my son. Eye opening experience. As soon as we got in the car he said, "Dad, from this point forward you are not my Dad. You're a citizen on a ride-a-long. Please understand that I love & respect you, but tonight, I'm in charge and you need to follow my directions."

Gulp. "Yes Sir Officer."

By the way, may I suggest that to all that have posted political commentary to go back & delete your content. Not that I'm offended, but sooner or later this thread will be found and bans most likely issued. With football right around the corner, I'd enjoy reading all of your upcoming posts and want you around. It's for the reason, I deleted mine.

I went on one in Tulsa about 10 years ago.
Went fine, about 8 encounters ticketing errant drivers, then he had to help on a high speed chase toward Owasso.
Bing bang, screeching into Quik Trip.
"Get out! I might be back!"
I waited an hour, took a cab back to my car at the Mingo Valley precinct.

A couple traffic warnings, a couple of traffic tickets. One disturbance, one domestic dispute, one drug bust during a traffic stop, a few police energy rings (donuts), and then he dropped me off at his house. Good times.

I read every word. The judge kept his feelings very close to the vest, but continually harped his reasoning as simple failure to accomplish burden of proof.

Proof that Brian Rice had received written notice of policy that seatbelts were to be provided regardless of circumstance. However, the State couldn't prove that he had read the policy or been read the policy, but the judge comments, "even though he's a supervisor."

The judge admits that reckless endangerment was a possibility here except that reckless endangerment in Maryland cannot be the result of a moving vehicle, and again lack of proof that the officer knew the lack of a seatbelt could lead to injury or death. I'm a little confused on how an officer does about 50% of their job if they don't know that not wearing a seatbelt can result in gross injury or death.

He also threw out the fact that criminal negligence requires more proof than civil negligence. His opportunity of use in this statement was quite random as well as if he was alluding to more.

And lastly towards the end of his verdict, Judge Williams admits that evidence that was provided "illegally" by the State had to be precluded from presentation to the court. His statement here is seemingly an admission to me that these documents would have changed the outcome, but that they could not be admitted in court.

"The court is mindful of the fact that as a discovery sanction, the State was precluded from presenting certain documents into evidence and that those documents may or may not have been relevant to the defendant's training concerning seat-belting a prisoner in a transport wagon. But again, the inability to present that evidence was based on a discovery violation by the State and the State must bear responsibility for its failure to provide discovery."

Why would the court have been mindful of this had it not have mattered one way or the other? Seems like wasted breath.

WNAS, I appreciate your son serving his community. Ban me for my political beliefs? That's unconstitutional it is to me anyway. You can't muzzle a concerned citizen. I'm anti-political reminds me of UT. Bunch of bullshit lies usually, with no repercussions. I really like those republicans trying to throw a monkey wrench in Trump's nomination. They made my decision for me.

Hey man, I went off a tad as well. I shouldn't have but sometimes the stuff riles me up, but in reality this really isn't the place. And hey, I really don't care what you post but admin/ownership does and I really don't want to see myself or anybody get a temporary ban/ax etc.

Carry on as you wish. :)
