Oklahoma's Mayfield takes Manning Award as nation's top QB

I'm still haunted by what might have been.

As a 59-year-old, lifelong Sooner fan, I can tell you that you will be haunted the rest of your life.
I remember looking at our recruits and underclassmen after the 1973 season and thinking "We're going to be set up for the 1976 National Championship". All of our young talent would be upper-classmen. When we won in 74 and 75, 1976 looked like a lock.
Did not happen.
Also, Billy's last season (1979), 1987, 2003.
Those will all "haunt" me.

On a positive note, there are fans of about 120 other schools who wish they could be haunted like that.

Congrats to Baker on earning this award. He deserves this one and every other award he was presented this season. He will go down as one of the most legendary players at OU and certainly will top many "fan favorite" lists.

I wonder why the Mannings chose to make their award presentation nearly two weeks after the season? Maybe it's a prestige thing and they don't want theirs to get lost during award season with the other QB and Player of the Year awards.
