Legondary Former NFL QB & past Heisman winner says "My life sucks"

Yeah I only did sports up until HS and weightlifting up until a few years ago and I hurt everyday. I am 50 now, shoulder hurts, knees, lower back ankles. Its called growing old and paying for what you did when you were younger. Sorry for Jim but pain can come from many different things in all walks of life.

As the article states, Plunkett got creamed a lot during his first few years in the NFL. Another QB in Plunkett's class was Dan Pastorini who was 3rd QB taken by Houston behind Archie Manning....Plunkett being #1. I was living in Houston back then and watched Pastorini take some of the most brutal hits I ever saw. Houston had nothing until Earl Campbell. Once Earl got there Dan's big hits lessened and so did his INTs. Still he threw more INTs than TDs over his career, but he was a damn good QB in my book. He was definitely as tough a guy as anyone could want to QB for the Oilers during 1971, 72, 73. He was there until the late '70's and while Earl was in the back field ('78-84) Pastorini and the Oilers were fun to watch. My favorite time for pro football. Too bad that Bum Phillips ran Earl as much as he did. Earl's paying the price today.

Ironically, all this connects in a strange way. Stabler is traded for Pastorini and the OU connection of Kenny King. Plunket takes over for the Raiders when Pastorini goes down. Plunket & KK go on to get a SB ring, I guess Pastorini too. (not sure)

BTW, Pastorini still occasionally makes a public appearance around Houston but he's pretty quite these days. You're correct Oklabama, they both took a beating.

I guess I favor Dan because I had the opportunity to meet him a couple of times when I worked for Ford there in Houston. Pastorini was a real car guy and also a really pleasure to talk with. He was also a pretty good ladies man back then. Lol. I think he married a Playboy bunny. Wowzer! Glad to hear he is still walking and in the public' attention down in Houston.
