If you were elected President of the United States

That's a lot of not worth actually reading. Where are all of those "so many" that want to bomb Iran? Just because people don't support this deal doesn't mean they support no deal and bombing. To suggest a majority of any kind prefers bombing is just being dishonest for dramatic effect.

This "deal" goes beyond the confines of what the negotiations were meant to address. Do you think the lifting of the arms embargo of Iran is an intelligent thing? Russia agrees to it because they can sell their advanced air defense systems to Iran. $140 billion also buys a lot of shore to ship missiles to control the Strait of Hormuz. Iran will be able to easily pursue ballistic missile technology to put the nuke they'll eventually develop closer to our doorstep.

Do you think allowing Iran to delay any inspection up to 24 days is a smart thing? What happened to "any time, any place?"

There are plenty of good parts of this deal, but the last minute additions just to get a deal signed was not a smart play. There's a reason that even Obama allies just raised their eyebrows. Obama and Kerry just got played.

I'll add on one more addition. You mentioned the joy of Russia, China, and Germany over this deal. You do know that all three stand to significantly benefit economically from the lifting of the Iran arms embargo right? While Russia and China sell arms to the newly cash rich Iran, Germany will be selling arms like wildfire to the Saudis and other Sunni Arab nations to combat what Shiite Iran is getting.

You really should take off the partisan glasses and look outside of the administration talking points.

Spoken like a true Socialist Sybarite. Not saying you are.

Diplomatic passivity - an Obama trait - is a sign of political weakness, not strength. We are the most powerful country on this planet and, fair or not, we are called upon to use our strengths, resources, and resolve to protect and defend our country, allies, worldwide interests and to bring stability to a chaotic world. Yet we are being constantly dictated to by an inferior opponent under this derelict Commander-in-Chief.

Customarily, we have used those strengths and resources (diplomacy) effectively without tipping off - in advance to our adversary - our every move and intent. Done properly, this can be a strong deterrent to war. Yet, he has repeatedly "shown all his cards" as a pre-negotiation tactic thereby giving the upper hand to our opponent and we're left to eating whatever remaining scraps that fall to the floor. Thus far, this ridiculous ploy has resulted in grave consequences. It's like he is shilling for the other side

I get so tired of the Left's continuous and whimpering mantra "what else could we do"? Then they errantly and cheap-shot those who oppose their self-serving propaganda as war mongers. You appear to be in lock-step with this position. Through his inaction/ineffective posturing, he and his administration have allowed the irresponsible destabilization of the entire Middle East region making eventual war a likely reality for the next administration. As has been posted previously, Obama is more concerned about his personal legacy than the security and well-being of this country, its citizens and our allies.

In true "Chamberlainesque" style, Obama has acquiesced to, at a minimum, Putin, China, N. Korea, Africa, Libya, ISIS, and Iran. He's made a mockery of the brave Americans that paid the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq by not leaving a sufficient military force to maintain our gains and repel ISIS while in its relative infancy. He has dissed Israel (our long-term and staunchest regional ally) and thrown Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt under the bus. He's allowed Syria to become a shambles and allowed our Ambassador in Benghazi and his limited number of bodyguards to be executed.

These are the miserable conditions we now find ourselves in. Good luck to the winner in 2016. Their predecessor mucked things up royally.

If we're going to discuss unprofitable services, one must discuss Amtrak. This is a venture that continues to line the pockets of big labor with currently over 145 unionized contracts. It's the biggest farce in this country yet we all tend to just turn our heads and ignore it.

Someone brought up the idea that Israel might fall as a result of our dealing with Iran, as well as the idea that terrorists might gain access to nuclear weapons.

I think we can stop the discussion of Israel. Nobody is going to let Israel fall. They may as well be a fifty-first state. There will be disagreements as they and we go through different types of leaders, but all discussion of a collapse in the relationship are nothing more than political posturing. Having friends in Israel, they indicate that there is as much dissent within Israel as from without. Once told me that if it weren't for the enemies, Israel might well fall from within due to the different groups.

Iran as a source of weapons is rather unlikely. We have lived with nuclear weapons now for seventy years. For the first time, the world has become too afraid of its largest weapons to use them. We went through a fifty year Cold War with the US and Russia having nuclear weapons, and we were both afraid to use them. It resulted in a lot of posturing, and it did result in a rather profitable industry, for awhile, in building bomb shelters. Generally, countries that have had nuclear weapons realize their danger.

We have a very misguided sense of Iran and who they are. We kind of lump them inn with the Arab world, but only about two or three percent of Iran are Arabic. About seventy percent are Persian or Indo-European and speak Persian. They are not a nomadic people. They tend to be more educated than we might believe. They were pretty much into education until the Islamic revolt, and they still do have extensive education and industry, although having it controlled by the religious leadership which tends to promote industry and only involve itself in religious matters. They are a nation of about 78 million, almost the population of Germany. The area of Iran is about half that of western Europe, if not more. It is an old country and civilization, quite different from the Arab world.

If terrorists were to gain access to nuclear weapons, it would be more likely that it would be from a privately-funded source than from one of the nuclear powers, either than or from the corruption of individuals that might assist in theft. Even then, you have delivery problems. I doubt that a nuclear power would ever be involved. It is in Iran's interests to generate industry, not weapons. They have no enemies that plan to attack them, and I don't know if they have attacked anyone in the past two thousand years. The fact that they are at the table with the US indicates that they are more concerned abut their economy than in weapon systems.

We''re in a new era, and the economy will have more power than weapons. Despite our problems, we are still the major economy, as athe Chinese stock market is proving.

You preach 'Desth to America' repeatedly, in a continued fashion, in any country & you'll eventually be successful in finding a people that will believe it. It's been close to 40 yrs of their revolution. The are beginning on their 3rd generation.

They are and have been a very dominant country not only the Middle East but the entire world.

BTW, the Persian women are absolutely beautiful. In my books they rival the ladies in Spain.

Dirty before the revolution Iran was pretty westernized. Their women are indeed very attractive. Google is your friend on this subject too

Let's make this somewhat clear. This treaty will very likely become effective. Nobody has a legitimate alternative. The anti-Obama crowd will yell, but they have yelled since 1948. It isn't just that Obama is an African-American. They tried to impeach Clinton, and they threaten impeachment on everyone who is not a Republican.

Despite your outrage, the world is much more comfortable with a United States that has Obama finding ways to do things peacefully as opposed to a Bush/Cheney inventing non-existent nuclear weapons in order to start a war. Our image has improved, much to your despair.

Chamberlain---if you ever go back and actually study the alternatives, you may quit using such silly comparisons. Wilt Chamberlain had more import in WWII than Neville. He might have been thrown out of office had he done otherwise. It did become a nice little excuse for those who wanted to make war-like points for the next 75 years. Now, nobody remembers who he was, and I doubt that anyone remembers the situation.

Yes. We intend to seek peace rather than continue the self-destructive trend that an over-extended Cold War mentality has bred. There will always be someone under every bed or behind every rock. But, our forefathers were right. If we lose this country, it will be disguised as fighting off a foreign enemy. No enemy is invading the US. The last was Canada in 1812. Now, they don't want our problems.

Scream if you wish. Rant if you must. The future will be different from the past. Obama is the least liberal President you are likely to have, and you don't appreciate it.

This is an extremely "conservative" board, if you use the term as it has been used since 68. But, let me try to tell you what the future will likely bring.

We will keep the Affordable Care Act. It will become a lot more like those of Australia and Germany in that everything will be covered from first dollar.

We will re-institute unions. I don't know if they will have the power that they have in Europe, but they will probably eliminate right to work states within thirty years.

We will have free education. I suspect that the charter schools will not last beyond about 2025. I don't know how we will limit the number of people going to college. I suspect that it will be somewhat like the countries in which a student makes a decision by age 15 as to whether to pursue a university degree or work-related certificate type school. The free education will probably begin as soon as 2024.

We will have some sort of energy and resource regulation. The level of involvement of any private industry will largely depend on how hard they fight it. I suspect that Exxon and Koch Industries will not have a part in any of it. The regulation will be for two reasons: global warming, and distribution requirements of diminishing energy assets.

We will probably have international food and water agencies to deal with the inadequate food and water supplies in large areas of the world. Either resources will be made available, or borders will change as immigrants search for food and water. This will begin as soon as 2040.

I suspect that Theodore Roosevelt's idea of regulation of assets vital to the US will become effective by 2024. Profit is an absurd way to deal with things that are vital to national survival.

I suspect that there will be a re-instatement of tariffs on imported goods. The American worker will insist on something that will keep him alive and rebuild the middle class. Those companies who move their production overseas may find that their exports can not be brought back into the US. We can live without Nike shoes if there are no Nike jobs.

The biggest failure of the Obama administration has been the failure to do anything about Wall Street. The crash would not have happened if regulations had been followed and laws had not been broken. Nobody was punished. I suspect that the most moderate Senator of the 2020 Senate will be about like Elizabeth Warren on Wall Street. The Tea Party was originally founded because of Wall Street, not to become the foot-soldiers of the right wing. There is anger on the left and right about Wall Street.

I suspect that private prisons will be abolished by 2024. This has been costly and useless. Some people have made a lot of money.

We will not likely find that it is easy to motivate the American people to fight any war. The young aren't influenced by ideologies that tend to lead to war. Those ideologies are somewhat on the wane, although the ashes are emitting a lot of noise as they cool. It is interesting that the death of the Confederate flag displays was brought about largely by southern Republicans who had supported the confederate flag for so long. The mood of the nation has changed enough to remove a symbol. That made it entertaining when the Durant natives displayed it upon Obama's arrival as though he had removed it from the SC statehouse.

Nah WNAS. I'm not mad. Your standard of "what's hot" in a lady can be dismissed based on your own words. You disqualified yourself.

Yep... you're still mad. No worries.

You do need all the help you can muster from anybody when it comes to women. If someone was to hand you the same image of the new Bruce Jenner that made the Rolling Stone cover and you were not told who it was, you would have found the image attractive. If you wouldn't have, then you are the one that needs help/advice.

Further, have you ever met a Persian woman? Have you ever seen a Persian woman? I seriously doubt it by your comments. If you think the Persian women look like Syria and/or Saudi, and other middle eastern women, you need to educate yourself instead of attempting to insult others, specifically me. I recognize that you're still pissed at being called out for your bigotted ways.

Having said this, your are an easy troll ticket for entertainment. Because of this, I'll keep you around.

There will be civil war before too much of this happens, and frankly I think by 2030 it will already have happened. I don't see how the US can keep itself together with such a high degree of discord amongst race/sex/religion/whatever other label people feel the need to apply to themselves to be special.

I do agree with you on Wall street though. If we rounded up every major player in finance and every federal politician and put them in prison, I wouldn't be sad...well I'd be unhappy about the cost to keep them alive, but I'm a humane kinda guy like that.

With Bush in office, we had plenty of angry liberals around here. I believe legions of liberal apologists are uncomfortable with defending our current economic and foreign policy disaster. I miss toto, PBHG, Feast.

BTW, simple arithmetic rules tell us "free" education does not exist. We who have a source of income are paying for our costly, miserable and failing public education system.

Oregon is the closest we have to a socialist state. I spent 12 years on business trips to Oregon from 1991-2003. I failed miserably in finding a single high school senior or junior who could define economics and civics.

I grew up learning a little about racism. I have read nothing here to suggest anyone here sees a skin color as superior to another. Medic, et al are most likely just as I am. It's this stiff's policies that sicken us. Not his color. However, the angry liberal always charges "racism".

Speaking of easy troll tickets, I don't think 22 mentioned anything negative about Persian women. But then again, I can read.

Regarding Bruce Jenner as a "woman," I think you're probably on an island unto yourself. Anybody who has half a nanogram of testosterone would recognize the dude from the Wheaties box with makeup as the dude he is. Maybe you have a quarter of a nanogram? Just because you might find a dude in drag attractive doesn't mean any other dude would. Feel secure in yourself. Society is accepting these days. Projecting is so yesterday.

WhyNottheLastWord, grow up bro. You won't get any actual trophies here, I promise.

How could I possibly say anything good or bad about "Persian women" to this guy? We'd have to agree on what a woman is before we could even begin to discuss ethnicity.
