Gentlemen and Senior Sooner...

You should be blessed to have their cat coming around. Cats are about the only way to keep away roof rats.
 
Are they cats owned by a neighbor, or feral cats, living off the land?

You can use a Have a Heart trap, raccoon size, baited with cat food and after you catch it, take the cat ten miles and turn it loose. Not allowed to recommend anything else, but it's been done.

It's not a big deal really.
It's a male, fully blessed with all his wedding gear looking for a mate.
I live in a dead end cul de sac.
A favorite dumping place for all manner of dogs and cats. He'll get adopted by someone, at least long enough to find him a crib to live at.

We'll kill any number of creatures out here, but cats, dogs, we'll take less lethal measures with them. Unless they're rabid.
