Sanders had been committed to OU since November 2017 to play tight end. The joke was funny about quarterback, but we all know it was for tight end.

Outside linebacker has clearly come into play in recent months, including an unofficial trip to Alabama. OU had to be hoping the official visit for spring game weekend would shut the door, but you never saw an outward or public sign that Sanders was set with Sooners.

Then the next trip to Bama, and here we are.

I know it will get going and Lincoln will get it rolling, but I really thought coming off conference title, playoff appearance, Heisman, new DC, we'd be little hotter right now with recruiting. I know it's known, but damn, Bob and Mike stoops set us back years with this damn trainwreck defense. I have full trust in Lincoln/ grinch and co, but damn. Unfortunately, only way to right the ship is to turn it around.

That seems aggressive coming from a guy who was in the running for the DC job. Does he feel scorned in some way from that process ? Is there some bad blood there because he didn’t get the gig?

Such a moronic decision to not move home to admin. Probably Lincoln’s only really bad decision. I didn’t agree with it but I understand why he kept FUMS for loyalty etc a half season too long.

I've rewatched several games in the last few days. I guess I had forgotten just how extremely bad they were. (And believe me, I was appalled at how bad they were during the season.) I can't remember seeing a defense that bad in years from any school.

Taking that into consideration, who do you believe (if anyone) had a good year on the defensive side of the ball?

just read the post. OU recruiting him as TE according to TOS.. One would have to think OU would be in favor/onboard for him to try LB...

Per his instagram. I assume it’s an official visit? He visited there a few weeks ago as well. @Josh_M you seem to be able to get in touch with him. Is this just a kid taking visits or should we be concerned?

As some of you know I live in Little Elm.......

Guys, had massive trouble with my flight but am now here in Atlanta.

The two guys are really focusing on or 2021 quarterback offer Brock Vandagriff and 2020 linebacker offer Philip Webb.

Just hung up with Chris Tyree and I think it's safe to say that Oklahoma did an outstanding job on their trip and in my opinion has become his leader.

Now, he has a trip scheduled to Notre Dame this summer but also told me he'd like to have his decision made before the end of the school year. So I'm not sure what that will mean to his decision timeline but regardless things are getting close for him.

I asked him what things he values Oklahoma really checks off for him and he listed 4-5 things but the one he really made clear?

"I know how I'll be used in the offense."

He told me on his last visit Lincoln Riley was really sick and only got to spend a few minutes with him but this time they really laid it out and I've been hinting at what they want to do with him and it sounds like...



They are going to get REAL creative with him and his speed. It's the kind of speed that frankly surpasses anyone in Oklahoma's program in Riley's time.

Again, there is plenty of reason for you all to get excited but there is still work to do.

UPDATE: 11:20p - A guy I spoke a lot with tonight is New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton Rivals250 offensive lineman Sedrick Van Pran.

It's clear he, and others, loved the time at the Chesapeake arena, Oklahoma definitely threw something unique at them with that idea.

"Everyone was there and we took a bus with the current players there. And it was catered and everything," Van Pran said.

I'll have more but also wanted to mention that Van Pran seemed to really hit it off with the coaching staff.

"The people (stood out). Everyone accepted me and really showed love," he said. "Also coach (Lincoln) Riley allowed everyone to have breakfast at is house and it was amazing."

I talked with Bryson some tonight and it sounds like he is nearing cutting his list to just four schools and then should be announcing his planned decision date this summer.

I think there is some feeling that Oklahoma made a move this weekend but I'm not ready to buy in that they are going to push past Texas and Texas A&M - the two long-believed leaders. I think it's Texas at this point.

ORIGINAL: OK guys, have been talking to people all evening and wanted to get things started...

*OK first, off, I know the commitment of Dontae Manning has everyone excited and while I know that some are getting really wound up about the likelihood...the things I'm hearing? I'm not convinced the next commit will be either Jacobe Covington or Akinola Ogunbiyi.

Don't misunderstand me, I think both of those visits went extremely well and I think both could go down at any point but I'm not ready to say they are the next one off the board.

*One of the two guys who could beat these long-thought upcoming commitments to the punch? How about Ryan Watts. I've talked to a few people who tell me this visit was an absolute home run.

"I'm about 99-percent (Oklahoma) got him," one source said.

Some even think that Watts could be on the verge of doing something immediately but let's keep our eye on things.

*Another that is an even bigger surprise that really loved what he saw this weekend from what Scoop has been told?

How about Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek three-star athlete Brian Branch. This is not a situation that is as clear as Watts, it kind of depends on who you're talking to in regard to where Branch falls after this weekend. But what is clear is that Oklahoma impressed him and has challenged the advantage that many have seen for Ohio State in recent months.

*I spoke quite a bit with Antwaun Powell-Ryland and it's clear he loved his trip. Mark Jackson was the guy he was told to really focus on during the game and said 'I can see myself playing that'.

"I like the way they are going to use me, everything was good. It was good just being part of the players," Powell-Ryland said.

His host was Trejan Bridges and it's clear that Oklahoma, in a short time, has impressed both the recruit as well as the short-tenured freshman receiver.

"He said that they really treat you like family and I can see that," he said.

As for the coaches? Their message was simple.

"They were saying that I'm special to them."

Now, one interesting note?

I'm told that Powell-Ryland was every bit of his listed size, he was over 6-foot-2 and 230-pounds and as such seems a pretty easy fit for that rush edge that Oklahoma is looking for.

*I mentioned Akinola Ogunbiyi already but while he hasn't made any big move yet, the Sooners definitely made a big impression and built off his previous visit.

"It was amazing and I got a feel for the place and its people," Ogunbiyi said of the differences between this and his first trip.

*I'm still tracking some more but I want to get this out before we're all overwhelmed by Dragons for the next hour, a guy that really liked what he saw from Oklahoma - Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne four-star linebacker Jordan Banks.

"I think they are a wonderful program that is going to be a national title contender again this year," Banks said.

Said we’d see a lot of him this week on the pod. Monday is in the books and not a piece of art to be found.

How long realistically or how far off are we from getting defense to respectable level? Couple years of recruiting mixed in with current group? In some ways I feel it's hard to know how well some of our guys are capable of playing being in the circus they've been put through last couple years.

The Exorcist. Never has there been a movie that messed me up like this one. When it first came out it was rated-X. Even today it will mess you up.
