Discussion - SoonerScoop Subscriber Terms of Service

On February 22nd, I engaged Carey through several eformats directly with a thoughtful, detailed list of issues about the content performance of the SoonerScoop site.
On February 23rd, Carey finally responded back to with a short note, saying that he would get back to me with a longer response
On February 24th, I asked Carey where was the followup response.
To his credit later that day, Carey responded back with a thoughtful reply. Indicating that part of his action for scheduling reasons could not happen for another 7 to 10 business days.
Later that day, I responded back to Carey saying that was fine. But I clearly requested a followup message/call from Carey to discuss the larger issues that he attempted to answer in his email. I clearly stated that followup could be scheduled for later but he needed to reply back to me in terms of at the very least scheduling that call.
On March 7th, I again messaged Carey wondering when we would be having a followup discussion. And detailed a complaint about content performance.
It’s now March 23rd, and Carey shows no signs of being able to conduct the most basic customer service interaction with a paying subscriber of over 20 years.
So Carey won’t conduct this discussion professionally in private, he leaves me no choice but to address my issues/concerns to the main customer base.
I used to recommend SoonerScoop to anyone that asked what site to subscribe to, right now I cannot make that recommendation for the first time in 20 years.
If for some reasons this critical post gets me baned, I have recorded my full communication interaction with Carey for posterity. My email address is atlantasooner@me.com
Here’s my request for the New SoonerScoop Subscriber Terms of Service.
  1. The Scoop article will be published every Friday. If that publication is interrupted, a note will be pinned ideally at least 12 hours in advance. Reminder notices for planned outages such as Holidays will be published earlier during the week.

  3. The Woklehoma article should follow the same practice as the Scoop.
  4. Employee outages/vacations impacting content publication will be communicated in a proper manner. We don’t need to know the whys. Just the impact.
  5. Every Monday, Josh and Bob should post a new update “What are working on? Where are we going on?” The first part should detail articles in production with an estimated publication date, the second portion should detail trips to scout games/interview players/going to camps or 7 on 7 tourneys, etc…
  6. SoonerScoop site will create an easy way for Subscribers to relay content issues/concerns. Those issues will receive an initial response in 1 business day. Complete followup in 4 business days. Any ongoing discussion will have proper timeline expectations set with subscribers.

OT: whatcha smokin’ this weekend?

Bacon burnt ends & brisket for me and my family...

Burnt ends made from pork belly I cured a few weeks ago were STUPIDLY delicious...

Brisket was a prime from Costco, used the ‘Franklin tallow hack’... and WOW...does the tallow make a BIG difference!!

OT: GOAT athlete

So I was watching an episode of the I AM ATHLETE show from several months ago, and we haven’t had a thread title on this topic, greatest ATHLETE of all time. Only criteria is all sports, you can also give your goat from men’s or women’s if you want, but who is number one overall in your books? 2 names stick out to me, Lebron James and Bo Jackson. My personal criteria has less to do with winning and more to do with who do I think could be the greatest high level athlete at any sport.
Now the reason it was interesting or inspired me creating the thread was that they had a woman on there who claims Serena is the greatest athlete, man or woman, ever. Her argument was the 23 individual grand slam titles. I’m not a huge tennis fan but I know Roger (20) Rafa (19) and Jokr (17) all had or have had extended prime careers compared to the norm. Personally, I think tennis is underrated as a sport from an athletic stand point, and Rafa is the goat IMO of tennis, but I wouldn’t have a tennis player in my top 10 of all time athletes.

WBB: Sherri Coale announces retirement ...

Women’s Basketball Hall of Famer Sherri Coale:

"Being the head coach at the University of Oklahoma has been the privilege of my lifetime.

"In April of 1996, I accepted this, my dream job. As a native Oklahoman, I was pretty sure I had died and gone to Heaven. Though the task would not be for the faint of heart, I just wanted to build a program that this great state and this storied institution could be proud of. Twenty-five years later, I still cannot believe the ride Oklahoma Women's Basketball has taken me on.

"I arrive here today at the ending of a chapter and the beginning of another, engulfed in gratitude. The thick, goopy kind that comes from the middle of your bones. I am grateful to my family for letting me "pursue my life's passionate obsession" (thank you Wright Thompson), for generously allowing me to take up too much room and for doubling the wins and dividing the losses. Without them, achievement of any kind would fall pretty flat.

"I am grateful to my players for letting me coach them. That's a gift I've never taken lightly and a joy unlike any other I have ever known. I want them to know that they've left pieces of themselves in me and I am better for it.

"I am grateful to my staff for the sacrifices they made through the years. The loved they toiled with breathed a special life into our program. They readied the soil so that our teams could grow. And they never get enough credit for all the good they do

"I am grateful to our leadership-to the late Donnie Duncan and his partner in big dreams, Marita Hynes, for having the courage to hire a high school coach with audacious plans; to Steve Owens for riding the early waves with Marita and I; and to the incomparable Joe Castiglione for shepherding our growth, for challenging our progress and for being there no matter what. To former President David Boren and current President Joe Harroz, I thank you for cultivating an institution that does what it's supposed to do-prepare its students for an important and meaningful life.

"I am grateful to our competitors for stretching us, our fans for lifting us and our media for covering us. Our game has grown exponentially because of the commitment of you all.

"Through much prayer and the gifts of a year that provided pockets of stillness most years never produce, I have amazing clarity. Basketball was my first and deepest love and coaching has been this wonderfully amazing life that I can't believe they pay me for. But there have always been other things I want to do. I'm ready to explore those things and I'm ready to run toward unfettered days with my brand-new beautiful granddaughter. Twenty-five years just feels right in my bones and in my soul.

"It's never easy to leave no matter how great a thing you are running to, because something is always left behind. It's hard to leave these players. This seasoned bunch of gritty competitors who built their wings in the fiercest of winds clawed their way to the sacredness of team. This season will always be one tattooed on my heart. But that's the trick about sports and the magnificent gift of team-it gets in you and it never goes away. Lucky, lucky, lucky me."

OU President Joseph Harroz Jr.:

"Sherri is an iconic coach who has made an indelible impact on the national landscape of women's basketball. In the 25 years she has served as our head coach, she has influenced the lives of so many student-athletes and become an essential part of the fabric of our community. Sherri personifies the purpose of our university — "To change lives." We look forward to the next chapter of her story and are so proud of her as a leader of the OU community."

OU Vice President and Athletics Director Joe Castiglione:

"Sherri Coale has encouraged everyone from players to peers to 'leave your story better than you found it.' She walked her talk. Her transformational impact on women's basketball at OU which, in turn, inspired generations of young girls throughout our state to play the sport is nearly impossible to measure. There are certainly milestones, from halls of fame inductions to Final Fours to conference titles to All-Americans and beyond, but it was the elevation of the program's profile to the nation's elite that will be best remembered.

"Across Oklahoma and the nation, the Sooner women's basketball program became a wildly popular and highly respected brand. Truly, Sherri set the stage for generations to come. But to focus only on the many on-the-court successes is to miss her impact on the lives of so many student-athletes. She always put her player's best interests first. Time and again, we saw the young women in our program develop in every facet of life. Her teams were super successful in the classroom and always engaged in serving the community.

"Sherri came to us as a coach and teacher and remained in both roles throughout her career. There are people who come into our lives and challenge us to think bigger, more deeply and more thoroughly. Many of us have a better story because Sherri was part of it. She is only closing the chapter on this portion of her story, and we look forward to what is next for her. What she leaves behind at the University of Oklahoma is a classic for the ages."

OT: Emails from Texas donors regarding The Eyes of Texas

"It's time for you to put the foot down and make it perfectly clear that the heritage of Texas will not be lost," wrote another donor who graduated in 1986. Their name was also redacted by UT-Austin. "It is sad that it is offending the blacks. As I said before the blacks are free and it's time for them to move on to another state where everything is in their favor."

That quote sounds like it came straight from 1863.

Kendal Daniels has been released from NLI w/ A&M

EDIT: Yep, LSU is definitely in play as well. Now Kendal Daniels himself confirms he has been released from the NLI.

Let the games begin (again). Source confirms Kendal Daniels has been released from his National Letter of Intent with Texas A&M. Look for OU and OSU to make a strong charge. And LSU will re-enter the picture.

I gave my insight into the situation earlier today (ha, talk about bad timing).

OT: Worst Sports Venue You’ve Visited

Saw this thread on Twitter and thought it would be fun to bring to the board.

What is the worst sports venue you have visited? It has to be collegiate or professional level.

Couple that come to mind:

Old Kyle Field (A&M)
Cotton Bowl (pre-renovation)
Floyd Casey Stadium (Old Baylor Stadium)
Astrodome (pains me to say as an Astros fan but Minute Maid Field was an absolute necessity)
Superdome
