Kelvin Sampson

I noticed Kelvin Sampson is on the cover, with a couple of his players, of Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball magazine. I have always wondered if he would have pulled off a National Championship if he would have stayed at OU. I know his recruiting class was going to be extremely strong before he moved on to Indiana. I also know he was sketchy in how he operated at times. I was in the room with some high school athletes in Lawton when he was making some impermissible phone calls to some of the sophomores. So he may have eventually gotten run off like he did at Indiana for violations. It wasn't like billy ball with him, but that was a pretty good era of Oklahoma basketball.

A&M Pod

Because I’m an absolute psycho, I listened to an A&M pod tonight. Their pain makes me feel better. They were talking about the season being over, and gotta recruit the guys that are on campus to stay. Play young guys. They were talking about what fake news it was all the fight rumors from the locker room. They were talking about how crazy it is that you can just make stuff up. They brought up something I forgot about. “Remember when the guy made a fake Daily Oklahoman front page that Landry Jones was arrested for dealing drugs in Norman”? Guy got fired from his job, and Landry’s dad I believe sued the guy.

OT: Mods?

A few months ago, I tried changing my username. I guess I had to send an email to Rivals to do this. Nothing ever came of it. I know why it was ignored but it was most likely just a misunderstanding. Let me explain.

I wanted to change it to "BillyB's Massive Hog." Which is a Bill Bedenbaugh reference. I can understand why at first glance that might not seem appropriate, but I can assure you it's not a penis reference.

You see, there's a picture of Bill with a huge dip in his lip on the internet. It's going to be my new avatar alongside the new username. It's a great combo imo

So, among chewing tobacco users, there is a common parlance for using. You might just say you got a dip in your lip. Some say log. Other times it's a dinger. But hog is also used and on and on. So that's the reference. It's both topical and unique, and I'm tired of SN07.

So anyway can one of you change my username?

OT: Chat Pile

Anyone on here a fan of Chat Pile? Sludge metal band from OKC who are starting to blow up a little. New album is getting solid reviews (best new music on Pitchfork). I just saw them live this week at a place down the street from me here in Brooklyn. They played two sold out shows and they were awesome. If you like heavy music, I would highly recommend. Obviously named after the chat piles in Picher, OK. Always cool to see bands from OK doing well.

Game weeks are back as the Sooners get ready to hit the road for Ames, Iowa, to take on the Iowa State Cyclones! The whole gang is here and ready to hit the road to cover some more football. In this episode we breakdown the health and availability of the roster heading into Saturday's matchup. Billy Bowman coming back? Is Marcus Major going to play anytime soon? We talk about all of our media availability this week and what we've learned while also kind of taking a look back at who has stood out the most just past the halfway point. And just before the podcast started, there was breaking news about OU wide receiver commit Anthony Evans is visiting Georgia. Josh breaks down whether or not OU fans should be worried. We also cover last week's trip to Denton to see Guyer take on Allen and the stars all over the field that night. And Jackson Arnold wasn't the best player on the field according to Josh. It's someone else OU has had their eye on. We also sprinkle in some Texas A&M talk, some NIL talk and Bob has a basketball exhibition to torture Josh with at the end of the pod. Excuse us, Carey and Eddie have to go be men and use power tools.

Morgantown advice

Best man for a buddy of mine who moved back to Boston after he graduated. He’s having his bachelor party in Morgantown because it’s the closest OU game to him and a 3 day weekend.
I’ve never been to Morgantown, and the rest of his wedding party are Massholes that went to like Wesleyan for college. (No shade, just explaining why most of the gameday plans are up to me).
So any specific advice or places you guys would recommend? What is their equivalent of campus corner? What’s the tailgating like, etc.
The more classic-collegetown-stuff the better. Staying in Morgantown on purpose.

OT: House of Dragons, so far

I looked for the other thread, up to page 6, but couldn't find it...

What does everyone think after two episodes?

I know some had mentioned the actor playing Damon, they weren't sure he could pull it off, or if he fit the part...I think he's my favorite character. I'm not liking the Hand of the King character much, but his daughter just became more important. The actor playing Damon was Prince Philip in the mini series on Netflix about Queen Elizabeth, and I thought he was excellent in that, and so far in this.

I noticed one thing, probably very obvious to others...when the Princess (heir):was speaking to her Aunt, the Queen that Never Was, her aunt said she'll be pushed aside when her father has a son, because it's the natural order of things. The Princess said when she gets on the throne, she'll change the natural order...

Reminded me of Danaeryis often saying she was going to 'Break the Wheel'...interesting parallel, to me.

I'm happy with the story and even the pacing of the story. The acting, I think, has been very good.
