Wild Stat + Some Perspective

I don't know whether this speaks to insanely good development, talent or both (probably both) but this shocked me... I don't know, maybe it shouldn't have.

When Brent got to Clemson in 2012, he literally had 12 guys on his defense that would later go on to play in the NFL. Now, not all of them started that year but holy shit... that's a foundation. And most of these guys were underclassman.
  • 7 DL that would later go on to play in the NFL.
    • Tavaris Barnes - Sophomore in 2012
    • Vic Beasley - Sophomore in 2012
    • Kevin Dodd - Freshman in 2012
    • Malliciah Goodman - Senior in 2012
    • Grady Jarrett - Sophomore in 2012
    • DJ Reader - Freshman in 2012
    • Carlos Watkins - Freshman in 2012
  • 3 LBs that would go on to play in the NFL.
    • Stephone Anthony - Sophomore in 2012
    • BJ Goodson - Freshman in 2012
    • Tony Steward - Freshman in 2012
  • 2 secondary guys that would go on to play in the NFL.
    • Beshaud Breeland - Sophomore in 2012
    • Jonathan Meeks - Senior in 2012
----------------------------------------------------------

I know this year has sucked and some are afraid the development isn't there. I would say though... I don't think Brent just suddenly forgot how to evaluate and develop talent. Now, sure some of these guys weren't scrubs to begin with but Clemson wasn't landing top 5 classes by any stretch. Their average class rank for the 4 years prior to 2012 was 19.

D-Line Portal Expectations

Did some quick research to see how other linemen from the portal are performing at their new school this year. Here's the best I could find....

Jared Verse (Albany>FSU) 12 TFL, 5 Sks
Ochaun Mathis (TCU>Nebraska) 4 TFL, 2.5 Sks
Landon Jackson (LSU>Arkansas) 2.5 TFL, 2.5 Sks
Jared Ivey (Georgia Tech>Ole Miss) 5.5 TFL, 4.5 Sks
Lonnie Phelps (Miami OH>Kansas) 8 TFL, 6 Sks
Akheem Mesidor (WVU>Miami) 8.5 TFL, 5 Sks

Keep in mind most have only played 8-9 games and stats don't reveal the entire situation. Out of this group only Mesidor is considered an interior lineman. The majority of edge/interior transfers have stats very similar to Jonah Laulu (1 sack).

TLDR: The portal likely won't solve any of our defensive line issues.

Prospect Watch: Florida 2024 WR Terrance Moore

TJ Moore is one of the hot recruits in the Southeast this fall; teammates with Lewis Carter. He wants to visit OU coming up. Update on Rivals:

Mentally prepare now

We may be entering the dark era of ou athletics.

Ever since we fvcked over the big 12 (rightfully so) we have been absolutely snake bit in major sports, in the following season.

If OU bball is at the bottom of the big 12 again this year, Joe C is going to have to make some very uncomfortable decisions.

Am I overreacting about 1 basketball loss? Absolutely, but almost everything has not gone our way in the past 10 months.

Sooners stunned in season opener, 52-51

You can tell Moser knows full well Noland/JGroves/JHill are not going to be able to start together. Not enough athletic ability, not enough scoring. But boy paid a pretty price to figure that out.
