This article/link proves my and others' points about where we are and how we got here.

Nobody can argue the facts of what has happened regarding the losses we have incurred. People can piss and moan all they want, but the fact remains we are an empty shell of a team—holes everywhere with no experience. QB play means everything.

Look at the rattler failure and where we would have ended up if not for Caleb last year. We were not good last year and we are not good this year. As I stated before....time...we need time.

L’Damian Washington

Maybe this has been brought up recently, but I hadn’t seen it in a while. Obviously, this season was an opportunity to have a season long job interview at The University of Oklahoma.

1. So far, how do you rank his interview?
2. Should he be here next year?

I personally think it is interesting because I think it may be one of the most “ehhhh they are pretty good” positions on the team

OU media Monday

Bedlam edition.

- Dillon Gabriel
- Eric Gray
- Drake Stoops
- Jovantae Barnes
- Marvin Mims
- Woodi Washington
- Ethan Downs

I was with Gray and Stoops, but... I was also with Jeremiah Criddell. I've been working on a Criddell story lil by lil all season, finally got the clearance to talk to Jeremiah himself. Sweet, will be my Thanksgiving story :)

REPORT CARD: West Virginia

OFFENSE:

QB: Dillon Gabriel - 70 - Passing game had some ugly moments but most weren't on him IMO.
RB: Eric Gray - 100 - Every time I think he can't carry this offense more, he does it.
WR: Drake Stoops - 71 - Had a nice spell for a minute and then was rarely seen again.
WR: Marvin Mims - 50 - There's something wrong and I don't know what it is but suddenly he can't catch.
TE: Daniel Parker - 60 - Can't say I noticed him much.
TE: Brayden Willis- 78 - Why can he not get a look in an offense with ZERO intermediate passing game? Still blocked extremely well.
OT: Anton Harrison - 81 - I didn't think he had a great game in pass pro but did a nice job leading the way on the ground.
OG: McKade Mettauer - 70 - Slow and steady keeps the position.
C: Andrew Raym - 75 - Sooners did a nice job with West Virginia and thought Raym was good before the injury.
OG: Chris Murray - 73 - Costly penalty (playing out of position) but largely thought he was good.
OT: Wanya Morris - 65 - Thought he, again, looked highly volatile. It's all peaks and valleys with Morris.

Offensive Average: 72.1 (793)

DEFENSE:

DE: Reggie Grimes - 70 - Had something of a resurgence, was definitely better all around.
NT: Isaiah Coe - 80 - Was the lone interior defender making plays.
DT: Jeffrey Johnson - 65 - I just never noticed him making an impact.
DE: Ethan Downs - 81 - His best game of the year by a mile for me, was consistent in pressure and, as always, his pursuit.
LB: Danny Stutsman - 75 - Thought he played outstanding in the first half but that miss on the final drive against Greene is brutal.
LB: David Ugwoegbu - 64 - Find a time in this game where he wasn't higher than his WVU counterpart.
CH: DaShaun White - 83 - Another really good performance from White, he's just one of the few guys really seeing what's happening.
CB: Woodi Washington - 81 - Touchdown was a tough give away but he tackled well and broke up several more.
CB: C.J. Coldon - 78 - Man it's hard to ignore that WVU just rarely looked his way.
S: Justin Broiles - 70 - Didn't notice him, which is often a good sign, before the injury.
S: Billy Bowman - 81 - Thought he looked like the guy we have all expected.

Defensive Average: 76.2 (838)

SPECIAL TEAMS:

K: Zach Schmit - 50 - The two field goals were misses but were also brutal asks, still the kickoff OOB was just bad.
P: Michael Turk - 78 - Kicked it pretty well in some awful conditions.
KR: Jalil Farooq - 83 - Give him every touch you can.
PR: Marvin Mims - 75 - Actually made a play in the return game.

Special Teams Average: 71.5 (286)

Key Reserves:

DT: Jordan Kelley - 72 - Fumble recovery at least seemed big and had some good moments.
DE: Marcus Stripling - 74 - Thought he created consistent pressure for the first time all day.
DE: R. Mason Thomas - 71 - The face mask was just brutal but Thomas did apply some good pressure.
S: Robert Spears-Jennings - 72 - Man, just impossible not to see how much potential he has.

Reserves Average: 72.5 (290)

Team Average: 73.9 (2217)

My Overall Grade: 52

Breakdown:
I'll be honest with you, I've got no idea how I can get the score lower on some of the players to get the average where it belongs. There were some decent performances but not just having a dogfight but losing to the worst team in the Big 12 that even with a win over Oklahoma (remember when that was meaningful?) the Mountaineers may STILL fire their head coach.

This is embarrassing on just about every level for the Sooners and there just have to be some severe questions asked within the walls in Norman. After wins over Kansas and Iowa State I kind of started to buy into some progress being made. Even after Baylor I was willing to say 'that's a decent team that is starting to figure it out'. But I don't care what the situation is, this tweet should NEVER be true:

Talk to me about improving talent, ok, I can get there. Talk to me about having to change the culture, ok, I can get there. But losing to a team who'd love to have your talent problems, benched their quarterback, and is on the verge of getting their coach fired and they have a better culture and talent?

Come on, again, 'that's not good enough' for a place like Oklahoma.

Scoring Standard:

100-82: Playoff Contender
82-74: Big 12 Title Contender
74-65: Bowl Game Participant
65-0: 'I'll be hoooome for Christmas

OT: 3 UVA Football Players Shot and Killed

3 University of Virginia football players killed in shooting; student suspect in custody, police say

CHARLOTTESVILLE — The suspect in a shooting at the University of Virginia that killed three members of the football team was taken into custody Monday, more than 13 hours after he allegedly gunned down fellow students in a bus as they returned from a school field trip, authorities said.

University President Jim Ryan and law enforcement officials were in the middle of a late morning news conference when they received word that Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., a former UVA football player, had been apprehended.

Two other students were wounded in the shooting late Sunday night
, which happened near a campus parking garage as a charter bus full of students returned from seeing a play in Washington, D.C., for a class field trip. Ryan said one of the students was in critical condition and the other student was in good condition at a local hospital.

Ryan confirmed Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry were killed, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.

Has the bender worn off?

Look folks - the cuppboard is bare. All this "we should have hired" talk is nonsense. Guys who actually played the game on the field - few of whom even played for Venables, are consistently saying the same thing. It's not because they are closing ranks around Coach V - it's because they know what they are seeing out there. Guys being put in positions to make plays, and not making them.

When guys are in position to make plays, and they make them - that's called ability. And right now ability is not in very long supply around here. There is no fix for that but time. Guys are not going to get but so much better, we're going to have to get better guys. And that's not a one recruiting class deal. Yeah, better play at the QB position would cover a lot of deficiencies - but that's EXACTLY what we experienced for the past few seasons.

I don't exaggerate when I say Vince Lombardi couldn't do much better with this. Nick Saban didn't forget how to coach this season, but you see the difference that not having elite talent all over the place makes this season. But again, they have a great QB and that can get you over the hump on a lot of days - but not to the championship.

Texas has a much deeper roster than we do. They know it, and we know it. So does Texas A&M. Neither one have first year coaches - This is year 2 for Sark and year FIVE for Jimbo. That means EVERY player on Texas A&M's roster was recruited by him, and a significantly greater number of the players on Texas roster were recruited by Sark. And look what they have to show for it.

Stop asking "why they haven't gotten better over the season" - because the answer is - this is the level of talent we have. Go back to being in Math class as a kid. Did every kid in the class pick it up as fast? No. The Teacher said the same thing to everybody - but some don't ever catch it, and some catch it quick. Same sh** with football. We got more of the slow kids for now. So that means you get inconsistent play, more mistakes, etc.

So yeah, we may not make a bowl this season. Get over it and lose notion of "embarassment" or "disgrace", as if you're owed something. This is years of recruiting misses and other things coming home to roost. Dan Lanning or <<pick the guy>> would not have fared any better HERE with this talent. I don't know what is going to happen - but I do know that talent matters, and we don't have it in spades. I also know from being AT OU in the 1990s the difference between a team lacking talent, and a PROGRAM in chaos.
