One last EPL update (Wed 5:45pm)

Touched base with a few sources here. I’m told EPL and his camp had a conversation with OU this morning, and UCF staffers didn’t make their scheduled in-home visit with the four-star OL this afternoon. Two plus two ought to equal good news for Oklahoma on Friday.

What a win this would be for Bill Bedenbaugh, as the Sooners only got EPL to campus once throughout the recruitment process.

An additional reporter joins the OUInsider team next week

In another major step toward our goal of assembling the market’s finest team of insiders and content creators, Brandon and I are pleased to announce that we’ve added Blake Mullen to the OUInsider crew.

Tomorrow, Blake graduates from the University of Oklahoma’s Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. He is a former collegiate tennis player and a native of Pryor, Oklahoma. Blake most recently served as the lead reporter for Sooners360.com, where he contributed both written and audiovisual content, and he adds to the excellent program-side sourcing on our site.

Please give Blake a hearty welcome, and give him a follow on Twitter as well.

OUMBB settling in on a solid 8-man rotation

A little pregame reading ahead of tonight's game against Green Bay (8 p.m. ESPN+).

It appears the Sooners have already settled on a rotation, and it's led to huge bench production.

So many good things…

I know it’s human nature to overemphasize the bad instead of the good, but put it in perspective. Losing Green sucks, but we’ve now had the following happen.

Stutsman returning.
Bowman returning.
Terry returning.
Lacey returning.
One of the best portal WRs in.
Likely getting EPL later.

Like come on. Plenty are worried about the OL, but if you felt okay about the OL, then basically half a season starter leaves, albeit massively sucky, they have to hit the portal hard either way there. Just being positive because some could use it. This is CFB and that’s how it is. I’d be lying if I said I hated the drama like this. One of many reasons CFB is far above the NFL for me. Take the good with bad.

That’s my rant.

Venables discusses Tawee Walker, returning players, Seth Littrell

Venables hit a variety of topics earlier today, including Walker's situation, Danny Stutsman's return and the focus for Seth Littrell. He also gave an update on Julie's health.

McKade Mettauer/Walter Rouse Appreciation Thread

With all the drama and bs over the departure of Cayden Green. I just wanted to take a minute to post a positive thought on the aforementioned duo. I know nothing about Mettauer other than that he seems like a program guy and a pretty awesome dude (his defense of DG and playing thru a knarly injury also tell me that too). However with he and Rouse playing in the bowl game for the stated purpose of supporting Jackson Arnold and the team. I found that very refreshing. Yes, I realize that playing out the season use to be the expectation for seniors. However, in today’s game, that is exception rather than the rule. Particularly with Walter Rouse who I’m pretty sure has pro potential. He could also be an excellent coach or football talking head tomorrow if so chooses. Anyway, thanks guys! It means a lot. Especially right now! (I’m sure there are others I didn’t mention doing the same thing-feel free to mention them here-Tawee Walker comes to mind although I still think he may come back-no intel just a feeling).
