DrummBeat: Transfer QB note | CB and the NFL (Sat 2:03 AM)

I continue to hear that transfer QB and all-time OKPreps passing leader, Casey Thompson, will announce his decision in the week following New Years Day.

I also continue to hear OU is the likely landing spot if things stay trending in the same direction it was as of earlier this evening.

*** We have talked about on pods/Lives and reported this for some time now, but wanted to make a note that Parker and I continue to be told things are moving a bit differently for CB Woodi Washington and his upcoming decision.

At one point, there was almost zero chance he was returning and his people told OUinsider as much. However, there seems to be some strong buzz on his possible return for the 2024 season.

I’m not gonna sit here and say definitively that will happen, because WW changed his mind a few times already. That said, we continue to hear the odds are much, much better for the return of Woodi Washington to OU in the 2024 season.

Even more so, and as of last night, the idea that he was coming back was stronger than it was when we first threw the idea that things weren’t 100% to the NFL a few weeks ago. Either way it goes, we have a story ready for him staying and for him leaving just in case.

Also, if he does return, that’s another really good returner for the Sooners’ defense — and a defense that looks like it could be really good on paper next year — if Washington does follow the same path as Billy Bowman and Danny Stutsman.

Stay tuned as we continue to dig on that and more transfer info.

*** Also, I’m in Colorado (Crested Butte) with family this week. I didn’t take but one or two days of paternity leave when baby Ava was born in October, so I am getting in some family time before Parker (he is off to UA Game in a few hours) and I hit the road for our annual winter and spring recruiting, 7v7, camps and schools tours that last through May.

I will continue to look into certain portal possibilities and recruiting stuff to keep you updated, but I’ll be around a bit less over the next week or so.

Regardless, I want to thank you all for being valued members and hope you all have a blessed and Happy New Year.

The AM After

First the Bad News

1. JA's inexperience showed last night. Held the ball too long and made some bad decisions.
2. OL is a huge issue even though Sawchuk had a good game. We are not CONSISTENTLY sound.
3. Defense is solid.....or terrible. The secondary was horrific for much of this game. Stutsman had to
THROW a LB towards his proper alignment. The TE (his responsibility) makes the catch for a 1st down.
Being assignment sound, and too soft coverage is still killing us. Tackling is suspect. We miss too many
TFL opportunities.
4. Personnel accountability - Why is ANYBODY on the field if there's a better (even if younger) player
standing on the sidelines? Farouq has been more of a liability, as has Freeman this year. Can you say
Brennan Pressley or Jayen Gibson?
The Good News
1. JA will be a baller with elite talent. This game was a learning experience and he will be just fine going forward.
2. We have some young studs coming it on the OL. Mix & match them with our current roster. PLAY THEM!
3. I don't have a solid answer in the D. Mysterious how we can be so good at times, then give up huge plays & allow long drives.
With some stud incoming DL coming in, much like the OL...... PLAY THEM.
4. Personnel accountability - Upperclassmen or not if you're not assignment sound, and continually hurt the team,
WELCOME TO THE BENCH!

Conclusions
1. In spite of the loss, the sky is not falling.
2. We will not win the SEC next year, but neither will we get our butt handed to us. Worst case 8-4, best case 10-2.
3. Year 2 in the SEC we will win it, make the playoff and play for it ALL. It's been TOO long......and we're over due for # 8!
4. Hopefully this comes off as a realistic look for us going forward.

Make Thread Requirements PLEASE

Too many morons making multiple threads a day over the same topic. All the comments in those threads just talk about how there is no need for a brand new thread

Mods or Staff is there anyway for there to be a requirement or something for who can make threads? Maybe you can’t make one until you are subscribed for at least 6 months or a year? Or maybe a limit on how many threads someone can make in a week or something?
