WOW OU 3

Also just flipped on the TCU-Baylor game. Was hoping for a TCU win so no "co-champ" nonsense with Baylor. Assuming they beat the big, bad Horns. Now looks like Briles is getting some CFP love and OU win in Waco overcame the stink of the Texas loss. Go Bears!

I really believe part of the reason is that OU has a powerful brand nationwide. We're arguably the greatest program of all time, and we're synonymous with college football (e.g. 47 game winning streak).

I hope the players and coaches don't let this go to their head and get over confident. If we don't bring our "A" game on both sides of the ball, we could be in for a let down. My guess is that the Pokes will come in with something to prove. We should not take this game lightly.

First off that's one thing you will not have to worry about.... the coaches letting this go to their head. Coaches just need to keep this team focused, getting to the playoffs is one thing, you have to bring it every game going forward.

Totally agree, we play better when we know we are not favored, case and point, Texas.

I think our toughest game will be the first game. Especially if it's against Alabama. Would love to play any other team first. Not sure we can beat them if they have 30 days to prepare for us, but I DO like our chances if e play one week later. A lot.

Does this mean I don't have to lower myself and root for Nubby to beat Iowa? Sure hope so, because I don't know if I can stomach rooting for the cornstinkers and their blackskirt defense.

Not home free yet. TCU was No. 3 going into last week. Beat ISU by 52 and finished 6th. To be safe OU needs Stanford to win. And also Michigan State wins to keep Ohio State at bay. Beat the Cowboys!

If OU wins Saturday they add a conference title to the body of work. Notre Dame wont be able to do that.

Last year TCU added a split title where they were beat head to head and Ohio state added a championship title in blow out fashion. Ohio state beat #13Wisc while TCU destroyed ISU who was winless in the big xii. I agreed with the committee decision last year that Ohio State was in and TCU out.

With Stanford 11 and Okie St 9 it should be nearly impossible for Domers to make up ground adding the conference title to OU accomplishments. Pretty close to win and in for OU. Only way it becomes a question is if OU wins a game people think they should have lost.

I understand that excitement but we have 1 more game to play and it is going to be a tough one. Lose that game and we might be in the Cotton Bowl instead. That stadium is going to be insane Saturday night.
Both teams are gonna be amped up for this game. OU is bouncing back from a close call in a sort of "let down" game after the big win against Baylor. And OSU is bouncing back from the loss that ended their undefeated season. So both teams will bring it....in a HUGE way!!!

If OU and Notre Dame both win, I don't see how Notre Dame could jump OU since Stanford would then have 3 losses and the only losses by OSU would be against highly ranked Baylor and OU.

You guys may have already discussed this? Some of the posters were wanting an update on Mayfield. I'm glad but if they kept him questionable I don't think we would have moved up to 3.
That's like Heisman Trophy worthy. The winners have not fared very well in NC's however. Maybe New York at least.

The very very likely scenario is the ACC champ, the BIG 10 champ, the SEC champ and either ND or the XII champ. If OSU wins, then Baylor can be the XII champ by beating TCU with the Bears' third team quarterback. I know we don't care much about that scenario.

If Iowa were to lose to the Huskers and then beat the east winner, likely Michigan State, ,then there is a little possibility that the BIG champ wouldn't be there, but very unlikely.

I suppose that if Florida beat Bama, which I cannot imagine happening, but if they do and have already beaten Florida State, then they might be there. But as it relates to OU, I believe that if the Sooners win, we're in. Not a certainty, but hard to imagine anything else.

Baylor, OSU and OU all have one loss. So nobody is going with a loss this weekend. If Baylor wins in Fort Worth, I suppose that two XII teams could get in, if things fell right elsewhere. I'd love that. I could see Clemson getting in with a loss if UNC beat them and two from the ACC getting in.
There are still a lot of different scenarios in two weeks time. Lots can happen. But apparently, we win, we're in. The rest.... who cares?
