I told my wife after Mayfield left, that OU would not score unless it was a run or TA by the defense. All OU got was the 72 yard Samaje TD. Knight is a huge drop off and cannot complete any passes. That has to be shored up and OU definitely is not playoff caliber without #6 at QB.

Looks to me like he may have developed a ganja problem and is unable to muster the motivation to complete a pass, but perhaps he has fallen out of favor from above. :p

Every game I've seen him play as a back up before, he looked well prepared when he entered the game.

That didn't seem to be the case last night. TCU gets some credit for that. It is possible that Trevor was dinged and we didn't know about it. But that wasn't a very poor outing. We're really lucky that TCU went for two twice and failed both times.

Knight doesn't play. He got rusty. Some players can handle being a backup quarterback, some can't. I just can't believe the player I saw riddle Alabama less than two years ago has regressed so much.

The thing about the Bama game was that his performance was maybe a little overrated. He made a ton of throws the were complete passes, but more than a few were poor decisions that really worked out. He made high throws, that three or four different receivers made amazing catches on. Some were high over the middle. Even Woods, who had like less than 15 catches in his career, made a leaping catch on third and behind the chains that was a key play in the game.

He was brilliant, but he had a lot of help. And it was no small thing, that Bama mostly prepared for another quarterback, who didn't take a snap. When the defense is prepared for Trevor, he hasn't really ever been very good. And last night, he just made poor read choices, poor throws and we really couldn't figure out more than once, how to let him run in space.

I do agree that if we give him a week of reps that he'll be better than last night. But my guess is that we'll need to be in the high 30s at least to win in Stillwater. That would mean that we're playing enough good offense to limit the OSU reps. My other guess is that the only way that happens is if Mayfield is really close to 100%

More than anything, Knight played like he wasn't thinking or maybe he was panicky? Several of his throws were just step back and throw without looking at coverage, throwing it even the WR wasn't open at all, sometimes covered by two DBs. His timing was really off as well. Knight has never been the same since his scary injury and I think that has messed him up between the ears. He really should never play QB again because of this. Cody should be the backup, at least he can run the ball better with his zone reads and make better decisions.

Well, sure....and Knight had Saunders and Shepard to throw to and a very capable all around back in Clay to pass to and hand the ball to....these were three essentials he never in 2014.
If Knight's Sugar Bowl was "a bit overrated"....even though it had to be the greatest bowl game performance ever by an OU quarterback....then how was he also "brilliant" ?
I love Mayfield's performance this year and I believe if every OU team in the Stoops era had had a quarterback of his skills, there would be at least 2-3 more national championships in OU's history.....but I will always wonder how Knight would have been remembered if 1)...he had a better and healthier corps of receivers last year (2014) and 2)...if Mayfield had never transferred to OU, giving Knight more playing time this year, along with an improved receiving corps (including a stud tight end in Andrews) and the running back tandem of Perine and Mixon, how Knight's career would have panned out.
