Washington will be a tough out for sure. This years tournament is basically a SEC-P12 Invintational unless FSU crashes the party also. Hopefully our Sooners do it again and sends them all home.

Disagree. There are four PAC-12 teams, 2 SEC teams, a Big 12 team, and an ACC team.

The two SEC teams are only in because they got to play another SEC team. Everywhere else where an SEC team had to play a different conference, they lost.

I give Florida credit. They’re a legit contender to win it all. Georgia is a dark horse. All the other SEC teams that got into the regionals were fakes and phonies and riding on the bias of the committee.

I like our chances again this year. UCLA and UO both will be tough. UF doesn't have the bats, UGA without their ace pitcher, is lucky to be in. UW, is a solid team but NC caliber. We get a shot at redemption if we beat UW against the winner of UO vs ASU. We lost early to both teams but OU has been on a roll.

Sydney needs to get her bat back. Her, get a hit almost every time at bat, rattles pitchers.

We lost to Arizona Wildcats not Arizona State Sun Devils.

Both schools have good softball programs, so consider how much stronger a softball conference the Big 12 would be if the Arizona schools joined the B12 like some have suggested. :D And football. And basketball. And baseball. And golf.

I certainly agree with you about the SEC. BTW I read on a softball forum this is the first year since this format has been used that all 16 regional ( host) teams advanced to Supers

I wish the Az teams would join the Big XII.....for selfish reasons. No Az teams in golf this year. OU just got eliminated by Auburn 3 - 2 in match play. OSU was #1 all year long and favored to win it all this year.

Florida looked like hell vs. Texas A&M. Their pitching with their same pitchers looked worse.

Texas A&M had this series locked with Florid on the ropes.
In Game one A&M with Florida having 2 outs in the bottom of the last inning trailing 4-2 & had a player on 1st base a simple ground ball went to the second baseman who fumbled it but still was able to throw the ball for the force out to the shortstop in time but the A&M shortstop also fumbled the ball and the runner was safe.
Then A&M gave up 3 runs to lose in the bottom of the 7th. .

A&M then won game 2.

In game three A&m went ahead on a HR in the top of the last inning to lead 3-2. Then in the bottom of the 7th
the A&M pitchers got wild walking two Florida players with 2 outs and the batter had 2 strikes on her so A&M was one strike away from winning the series.
The A&M's pitcher then gave up a 3 run HR to lose it all 5-3.

Florida in my opinion will not go far in the World Series. They are not as good as their last season's team.

I honestly believe OU is the best team in this season's WCWS. They just have to stay focused like last season and Alo with 28 HRs and batting over 4:00 makes OU an even better team than last season's National Championship team. We are peaking at the right time. 5 of our 9 starting players are HR threats.....Romero, Alo. Knighten, Pendley, and Fale.

Lowery didn’t pitch well today. Parker did and deserve to win, but the OU bats were dead. We need our lead off and cleanup to start hitting. Penley loves the high pitch but leaves a lot of balls for swings/misses. Tough call on the out in left but that didn’t lose the game. Hard to win against good teams from the losers bracket.

These lady’s still almost came up big but the RF made a fantastic play on Knightens hit. Kudos to that Huskie defense. I still think the turning point was PL making the throw to Wodach at home to the opposite side of the plate. They had that runner dead to rights had PL just tagged her coming down the baseline but the flip to Wodach just wasnt executed. Now Washington may still have scored on the next hit but we will never know.

That Huskie D is outstanding and ours failed us a couple of times today. PP getting behind on the count every inning could have cost more runs but she showed her moxi by getting out of jams.

Saturday will be a new day and maybe OU can make history by coming all the way back. They have been there before ( last season in regional play) so I have faith they can do it again. If not still proud of this team

You’re right, 59. I don’t like Lowery’s “toss” to first even when we get the out. It becomes a habit and today when she tossed to home it needed to be a throw to the plate. The toss is always high and lazy. It needed to be quick and on the plate for the out. There was ample time but she is accustomed to making that play in that manner. But when we don’t score, it doesn’t matter so I’m not blaming our pitching. The loss is on our offense. Haven’t our 4 losses been when we don’t score or score very few runs? Oregon 5-0. Washington 2-0. I cant remember the others. Yet we are the highest scoring team in women’s softball. I’m rambling. Sorry.

There seems to be a lot of joy on the forum I linked over OU losing but thats pretty normal for fans of other schools who love to gloat when games go their way. Would really love to see the girls battle back and get in the finals again but its a tough road ahead for sure

Nah your not rambling just speaking the truth. I know this may sound crazy but sometimes tough losses like this can actually help a team down the line. I like OUs chances against ASU to move on.

Lets hope our Sooners dont leave countless runners stranded today. They cant rely on Alo for all the offense as I think today we will need some others to step up and deliver in the clutch.

PP is tremendous but runs would be nice to give her a little comfort cushion. I believe they get it done today.

For the record I doubt Alo gets pitched to with runners on today especially if its late in the game with the game being in question. Heck I wouldnt pitch to her and take a chance on her beating my team if I was the opposition.

Yep, terrific through the regionals. Disappointing thereafter. Dead bats. Equaled season long error total during the playoffs. Paige Parker was very good. Our freshman slugger was a star at bat and in the field. Great that the girls won both games Saturday. That showed class. Patty and the team provided my wife and I much pleasure this year. We love this team. Washington was the better team in Oklahoma City. I’m hoping they go all the way. Boomer Sooner, 2018 Softballers.

Other than the obvious....OU isn't still in the tournament....my biggest disappointment has been the poor umpiring. Take it from an old, old ASA ump that called hundreds of women's softball...fast pitch and slow....I would have been embarrassed being on the field with several of the umps in the this tournament. Just watched another ridiculous miss by the first base ump in the UCLA (boo) and Florida State game. It went against UCLA but right is right. You would think the NCAA would have better umps for the World Series of Women's Softball.

The whole WCWS to date has seen some very poor home plate umpiring. Strike zones were all over the place for all pitchers on every team. If I was a P I could only imagine what I would be thinking. “ What the hell is your strike zone” most likely.

Congrats to the young ladies and PG as she is worth every penny of that 1M they pay her IMHO and no doubt she is the best coach in the nation. Congrats to Washington on the win and Mellhart in RF ( Think that is her name) should be MVP as her two diving catches were a thing of beauty. OUs run is just temporary on hold as this team will be back next year to try again.

Best of luck to the seniors in life going forward and no doubt PP has cemented her place as One of the all time greats in OUs softball history.

The only negative I can say is 1-17 with RISP but lets give the opposing pitchers credit for making great pitches in those situations.

Yessiree. OU didn’t face pitching like like they saw in WCWW many games during the regular season, and this didn’t come as a surprise to me. The Big 12 wasn’t that good this year. Still the Sooners were deserving and showed why during the regionals. We definitely were a top eight team.

I think that diving catch in RF that Shay hit was a trap as they even mentioned the gal slipping her hand under the glove to secure the ball but they had no camera shot (that they aired at least) that would have overturned the call so congrats to the Husketts this time.

Next year we'll be rebuilding as we lose two 'franchise' pitchers, etc

If Florida State ends up winning two against UCLA, and it looks like they will at this time, they will have accomplished what OU needed to do. Quite and accomplishment. Florida State never lost their bats after losing the first game.
