Urban Meyer

They sure handed us our arse, so did Clemson the last 2 times we played them. But at least I bet Brent V would never say tOSU has an offense that we don't see. Auburn for some reason is making me nervous the past few days, maybe I am just gun shy from past Sooner big games but I hope we show up for this one, tired of waiting.

Funny thing tho, ESPN calling Clemson an Elite Blueblood program now because they are playing for the NC 2 years in a row. Yet to win it since 82 I believe they are now all of a sudden an ELITE BLUE BLOOD PROGRAM. After Clemsons fans last year and Bama fans every year and sec fans I wish they would both lose. Was hoping for an Ohio St/Wash game with a tOSU loss in title game, oh well.

Clemson and Alabama play championship football by having great defenses and kicking games and solid running games.
Wide open offenses are cute and sexy and fun to watch, but they rarely win championships or sustain dynasties.
Clemson and Alabama are clearly the two best teams in the country going into the championship game.
If OU wants to play for a national championship again, it must play defense as well as it plays offense.....otherwise, it will continue to play 4-5 loss teams in bowl games.....or get embarrassed in the BCS playoffs.

Nothing that special about the Clemson running game. But they do have three elite receivers in their version of the wide open passing game that is cute and sexy, and they have an elite athlete at quarterback. And they also lost to Pitt at home.

They aren't as good defensively as they were a year ago, but tOSU lost an OL early in the game, whose backup sucked pretty bad. They couldn't block the Clemson front afterwards. It's amazing what one OL injury can do to an offense with incompetence suddenly thrust into action. Now generalizations are being made about the greatness of Clemson.

They got a huge break, and took advantage of it. But without their wides, their running game ain't so hot.

It would have been fun to see OU play tOSU with a healthy Westbrook and a healthy OL, but neither was the case that night. And we looked bad, but not as bad as they looked last night.

Never would have expected Ohio State to get shut out like that. Impressive clinic BrentV's defense showed on the field tonight.
ESPN is the one that hypes up Ohio State especially Herbstreit since that is his team. After the win against Michigan they were raking them as number 3 team. All in all they have a good team.

If you have a strong offensive line, and good receivers, a quarterback that can throw and move in the pocket, play with tempo, good running backs, you might be able to beat Alabama with a not so good defense. CASE AND POINT, OLE MISS GAME.

Three B10 teams remain and will play on Monday, Wisky, PSU and Iowa. Wisconsin is the only favorite to win. Early losses have already proved that the B10 was overrated by ESPN (don't kid yourself they are the ones the Playoff Committee look to in their rankings). TOSU, Michigan, WSU and Colorado have already been exposed.

Not even close on who the best team is and that's Bama (Clemson will make it a close game). Big XII (if OU wins Monday) and ACC will end up with the best bowl records.

Clemson dared the Buckeyes to win by throwing the football. They couldn't. JT Barrett is a below average passer that requires open receivers for fear of his and their running ability. We lacked the horses up front and the trust to let our DBs play. JT played pitch and catch to a lot of wide open receivers. A recipe for disaster on our end. The Buckeye defense is pretty darn good still but got zero help from their offense.

Kudos to Brent V for a fantastic but simple game plan.

Clemson had decent rushing yardage (205 yards, 3 touchdowns) which isn't spectacular by itself, but when you have a great dual threat quarterback and an opponent committing three turnovers and getting stuffed by a great defense (238 yards total offense), it was a good output.
A 17-14 score between Alabama and Clemson should come as no surprise.

Well ESPN didn't need to hype up Ohio State during the season as they took care of business outside of the Penn State game. Only Alabama went undefeated during the regular season, so hard to use that one loss as a reason as to why they weren't what everyone thought they were. At the beginning of the year I never imagined Ohio State would make the playoff after losing so much from last year. I figured this would be a rough rebuilding year for them. They blew that away and proved me VERY wrong. So even though they got shut out last night, they massively overachieved this year. And they are young. They very well could return a ton for next year and be a sick team and make another playoff run.

Regardless of the hype teams like Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson get, these teams will continue to own CFB, and until others recruit, coach and play up to their level, their dominance will continue even in the face of parity.

However, they were talking heads tried to leave Washington out. They are the conference championship. What about the conference? They did not win it.

He pitched a shut out against Urban Meyer on a big time stage/game. That in of itself is pretty salty stuff. I just don't understand him staying at Clemson long. He has a pretty impressive resume.
I wonder if he has any desire to take on a head coaching gig. Getting away from Bob is one of the, if not the best thing he did to propel his career forward. Brent V has become a top defensive coach and is being paid well for his performance.

I think it's one of those situations where a change of scenery was the best thing for BrentV. I don't doubt he got a bit lazy with the environment at OU. Bob let his staff get lazy at recruiting, and let the program get stagnate. BrentV suffered from that mentality as well. Going to another program sparked that fire in him again. Not to mention BrentV has made comments about the focus on recruiting at Clemson is 365/24/7. When he left OU the focus on recruiting wasn't anywhere near that kind of effort.

205 yards and 3 TDs is a damn good day against the Buckeye defense.

I guess if Western Michigan thumps Wisconsin they should have been in with their undefeated record...

4 teams just doesn't cut it, period. Make it simple... Power 5 conference winners and 3 wild cards... NY6 bowls are quarterfinals and semi-finals...

Or... Make a real playoff with 16 teams... That is 8 fewer than all the other NCAA football divisions... Nobody gives the b.s. excuses for them to NOT have a playoff, only the FBS...

Corporate money will be involved in anything that sells, so the money excuse is b.s. as well...

Oh goody. Let's go make the regular season meaningless, and have all the games that matter toward the NC cost $200 or more to watch plus 1000 miles of travel and hotel rooms. Wonderful idea. Eliminate the common fan all together.

I think it was more about how many losses you incurred. One was the limit.
Only because LSU had more than two losses... Had VT or Colorado won their conference, or had they both, then who is in? Michigan? Pedophile State? Another B1G CHUMP?

So making the regular season meaningful was really something for confence champions, right?

How many common fans can afford ANY Oklahoma home games? Most common fans watch on TV. The only game I didn't see live was ULM.
