Southlake Carroll leads Cedar Hill 28-21 late first half.

Oops. make that 35-21 lead with two minutes left til half. Joey Maguire is feeling a little overwhelmed. Carroll has a couple of big receivers.

Two minutes left. We may have two more TD's before the half. It's on tv in Dallas on channel 21. Don't know if it's on cable elsewhere.

Go Buffs.

Cedar HIll scored to cut it to 35-27, but horrible snap on the XP kept it there. They just scored again and called time out to set up a two point conversion play. It's 35-33 XP pending.

Roll right, tight end throw back on an out route left completed. But OPI nullfies the conversion. Try again from the 18. Joey Maguire is more than a little peeved. Will go for two from the 18. Incomplete. The Dragons got a little striped help.

When we only had one title and two teams from each district that used to happen, but now it usually is a state power vs a 3rd or 4th place team and a 60-0 win in round one.

This one had a very strange end.

After the OPI took the tying two point conversion off the board, CH went for two from the 18 and failed, still 35-33. Then Carroll got a nice drive going, but in a seeming make up call, an OPI put them in a tough down and distance. Wasson was peeved, but not as mad as Maguire had been. Nobody scored until the last minute. CH whose D gave up 35 in the first half, gave up zero after intermission. Carroll had a nice drive to inside the CHill 5 YL with about a minute left. On fourth and goal from the two, they went for it and threw a pass about a yard into the end. It was a contested interception on a nice play by the DB, but the receiver tackled him forward, before the DB could fall into a touchback. So CH started at their own one.

On the first place, a slightly high snap went through the quarterback's hands and out of the end zone for a safety, Carroll's only points of the second half. Two a way high snap on the fourth XP try and a slight high snap from their own one were the difference in the game. Cedar Hill tried an onsides kick on the free kick after the safety, but failed and SC ran out the clock.

For the Longhorns, who have been to three straight state finals, it was a tough way to end. And that first two point attempt penalty will be a sore subject for a long time. A lot of pride on the line last night. Never seen Mcguire so animated.
