Guys I am pumped up to see what your Sooners bring this year to face off against our Tigers. This should be just one hell of a match up. On paper this is a championship game in itself. Hopefully it plays out that way. I will be in section 126 to find out first hand.
But I got a question for some of y'all willing to take the time to give me some good feed back. Talk to me about the Oklahoma special teams. Field goals, kick off coverage, kick off return, punter, punt coverage, and punt return. Are these considered a strength for you guys? Are there weak spots? Or has everything about all of it been just good enough and average?
I really think these two teams are so close, that special teams will likely play a more pivotal role than normal. Sure turnovers or busted coverages will make the highlights but special teams are often forgotten and it could be huge and I tell you why. We struggle on place kicking, getting it to the enzone. Our place kickers just can not get it there. We have consistently all year displayed bad kick off coverage. It's scares the crap out of me every time we kick off. Our FG kicker has been pretty solid, especially inside of 45 yards. Punter can be hit or miss but generally fairly solid, not any kind of Ray Guy award winner, but solid. We do not have much in the kick off return game. We struggle consistently getting it back to the 25. I'm hoping during this down time maybe we found a better option that will surprise us all.
So what y'all got?

See ya in Miami!
Go Tigers!

No glaring weaknesses on special teams. Our field goal kicker is the same guy as our punter. He missed a few easy FGs, but not in the clutch. He seems pretty confident in himself and has come back unshaken. He is a great weapon in the field position battle for us, and has several punts inside the opponent's 10 yd line.

Return game is nothing too special, but it hasn't needed to be. Our hands team fielded a bunch of punts this year.

Alex Ross is our fastest return man and a former all-american at that position. Dude has size and speed to respect, and he was a starting RB at one point until he got crowded out by even bigger, faster backs. He has a ball security problem that may have gotten into his head a little that keeps him more cautious than looking for a move or small seam.
