UPDATE: 10:20a - So I spoke a bit with Del City, Okla. 2024 defensive line offer David Stone after he had his first conversation with Todd Bates last night.
"It went great. Honestly we really didn't talk to much football, more stuff to build a better relationship. We were trying to get to know and understand each other more," Stone said.
"I like that he did (it that way)."
And if you're wondering about some of the things that makes Bates such an elite recruiter? He knows the golden rule of recruiting 'if you're not talking to them, someone else is'.
"He told me to start calling him twice a week, whenever," Stone laughed, seemingly acknowledging how unique and aggressive a stance that is.
ORIGINAL: I'm going to have a few more things to add through the day but one thing I wanted to get out quickly is that I'm told the Sooners will be in contact with James Madison transfer portal wide receiver Antwane Wells sometime Thursday morning. Some people seem pretty excited about him and with Oklahoma's need at the position it wouldn't shock me if the former high school teammate of Damond Harmon and Kelvin Gilliam ends up picking up an offer and being a serious target.
Since entering the portal before noon on Wednesday he has picked up offers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Auburn, Miami, Mississippi State, and Virginia Tech.
