UPDATE: Received information tonight that Cody Thomas was not charged with three interceptions during today's scrimmage. I think there may have been some people in attendance that saw a near pick on a tipped pass that wasn't credited as an interception.

Well,

From what I'm told it was not a great day for the offense this morning. It was an even worse day for Cody Thomas who I'm told threw 3 interceptions. Trevor Knight threw an interception and Mayfield did not throw one.

That doesn't mean it was a great day for the QBs. I'm told the offense didn't score any touchdowns until late in the scrimmage. Trevor Knight threw a TD to Jeffery Mead and Baker Mayfield threw a touchdown to Dahu Green.

One person I talked to believes that it has become pretty clear that Baker Mayfield is going to be the starting quarterback. Again, don't go nuts because this is all second hand information. But one source tells me he thinks it will be Baker and it should surprise no one who has seen a lot of practices.

Just told Baker has the intangibles others don't have. They like Trevor Knight's running ability better than Mayfield's, but believe Baker has a much stronger arm and fits the ball in tight spaces a lot better and with more accuracy than the others.

OFFENSIVE LINE

Orlando Brown starting left tackle, Jonathan Alvarez starting left guard, Ty Darlington center, Nila Kasitati starting right guard, Josiah St. John starting right tackle.

Dru Samia likely to serve as St. John's backup at right tackle with Derek Farniok serving as Brown's backup.

What is the overall impression of the offensive line? I'm told it's rough and that it's going to be a problem in protections and the run game.

Told there were no big runs today during the scrimmage. Was told Rodney Anderson probably had the best day for just individual runs.

I'm told there is a possibility Kenyon Frison could be reinstated as a member of the football team, but he won't be ready to go when the season starts if he can get back by then.

RECEIVERS

Told Michiah Quick is having a real hard time catching the football. If you don't see him in the starting rotation as the season gets underway, I'm told it won't be a surprise for those who have been watching him in camp.

DEFENSE

Told Will Sunderland had two picks today. One was on a tipped pass and the other was a throw that went right to him.

Austin Roberts competed in his second padded practice today and he was very impressive as an edge guy. Told he has a lot of tools for a guy that just arrived. Could help right away.

Kahlil Haughton continues to stand out to people I'm talking to that are watching practices. Could be a guy that can step in if others don't step up early in the season.

Matt Dimon looks to be winning the spot next to Matt Romar opposite Charles Tapper in the odd front. Charles Walker just hasn't turned on the jets and taken over that job in camp.

Dwayne Orso is running with the 2s, but some who have watched him believes he has a future at offensive tackle.

FINAL CONCLUSIONS

Those I talked to came away from the final scrimmage concerned about the offensive line and ready to crown Baker Mayfield as OU's starter at quarterback. Those were most overriding impressions from this morning.
