Thread on OU at WVU rival site....link

You mentioned 1 CB. Does that mean the other CB isn't up to snuff? Is he a guy that will be targeted?
Actually our other CB is a senior who has missed years previously due to injury. This year he's been awesome. He finally is healthy enough to play haha.
Our D is senior laden and shows leadership. When we were up on MD 38-0 and put the second string in our D begged to get put back in after they crossed midfield. We finally have a D that shows pride and hope it shows this Sat

Chestnut is on the other side and he was player of the game last week. He is 6'1" senior that has started games the last 5 years. He has been injured and it has sidetracked his career. He is probably BETTER than Worley right now, but Worley is just a freak.
One of our safties, Askew-Henry is Revis's little cousin. Just a Sophomore, but I wouldn't try him out a whole lot if I was Mayfield.

So which one of you is this guy?

Oh my goodness.
Me thinks the fellow there had some of the aforementioned moonshine before he made that. It's all good.
Kind of disappointed he didn't have one iota of Sooner gear on, or any pictures, banners on the wall.
W.T. hell!

Oh well, I'll give him an A for effort. That's grading on the curve.

That's a pretty big curve. Do you tutor at SMU or UNC?

Well, I think I speak for most OU fans in that, we're also looking for Joe Mixon to have a signature break out game, if that happens, oh, Katie bar the door!

I think he's percolating to do that. It's just a matter of time.

There is no doubt that Perrine is a beast. But he is being used in a different scheme this year...so far. I think this has more to do with the O-Line than an Air-Raid offense. Although the Air Raid does factor into the change. I've noticed that quite a few WVU fans have mentioned Perrine. I suspect this is because of his break out year last year.

With the Mountaineer secondary being pretty good, we may see more of attempts to pound the ball, so Perrine's # might be called more often. But if Mixon can create space between the defenders, he's going to eventually bust lose.

This is going to be a tough win for both teams. Looking forward to seeing what OU is going to bring this week! They've showed a lot of grit so far.

.

Break out from what? His mama's womb???

Our offensive line will need to get better in a hurry and a win here will require some more Baker Shake. Their secondary is salty but our WRs will find enough room to keep things balanced. The key to victory will be stopping the run and forcing WVU to stretch the field.

Outside of our boys, Karl Joseph might be my favorite player in the country.

OU's WR's vs WVU's DB's will be good on good and I expect both will make some plays Saturday.

Joseph is a baller and brings the ruckus on every play. It's been a joy watching him develop and expand his game from run stopping demon to overall menace in the secondary as his coverage skills have improved.

At the risk of starting a huge wave of anger (Trust me.... this is a fact finding question and not me trying to poke fun at your program), I have a question.

Is there an actual reason behind playing Boomer Sooner a thousand times a game? When you guys came to Morgantown last year, my wife and I sat on the upper deck right next to your visitor section, and she asked why you played it so many times. I didn't have an answer.

Colleges all have fight songs and I know that opponents are bothered by hearing the fight song over and over, but that's just part of college sports. I still recall sitting in Memorial Stadium surrounded by a large group of USC fans shaking their damn pom poms to the Trojan fight song that played over and over while their team put a beating on OU. That one miserable, gloomy day in 1982 elevated USC as my #1 hated school. The 2005 national championship game didn't do anything to change my mind, so yes....fight songs are very effective.

Almost forgot to add....,BOOMER SOONER

Yeah, they've talked about playing someone else' fight song, but it wouldn't be nearly as effective.

:p Comedy Gold right there my friends! Well done fitty! Thanks for the belly laugh!

Some cool trivia about the fight song.

In the bedlam game with OSU in 1983 @Stoolwater, OU found itself down 20-3 with 11 minutes left in the fourth. Gene Thrailkill, the venerable leader of the band, got ejected from the field for not having a sideline pass. (so Aggie)
Before he left he told his subordinates to play Boomer Sooner repeatedly until the football team responded with some scores. It worked.
OU scored 18 points in the final 11 minutes to win in a squeak, 21-20.

Barry Switzer gave a game ball to the Pride of Oklahoma for helping the team win the game.

I posted a YouTube vid of that play awhile back. Here ya go.

Thanks for the vid.
That was the late, great Steve Davis narrating. He was a good fellow.:(

Addendum: That game had some studs in it. Spencer Tillman, Tony Casillas and Sterling Shepards father, Derrick Shepard even scored a TD in that memorable game.

Has it been documented what the record number of times your fight song has been played in a game?

Agreed. I noticed this guy last year prior to the OU game. I said it then and I'll say it now, but pound-for-pound, there is no one who brings the lumber any harder than Joseph. No doubt in my mind he'll be playing on Sunday's next fall.
