Really liked this comment from @B EZ in the Illegitimate Son and didn't want it to get buried.
"Bob, This makes me think......I would love to get an idea about the hierarchy of the offers from OU. Things like, is there a reason why we've heard there being communication issues with Green-Warren and Rogers? And are any of the older Cooks/Kish offers still valid i.e. McGlothern, Mickens, Snow, etc.
Now that we're past the junior days, any chance we can start to get an understanding of who Grinch has at the top of his recruiting board and separate which offers are valid or old?"
This is a good topic. Just like stated in the title, this is pure opinion.
I would imagine Dwight McGlothern, RJ Mickens and Darius Snow are all valid offers. But I don't expect any of them to be Sooners, really never have.
McGlothern - still believe LSU.
Mickens - no clue, A&M or Ohio State.
Snow - if he accepts he's a LB in college, things would be different.
It's hard to lose 1-2 months with elite prospects. You're even seeing that with Darion Green-Warren. If he wasn't already committed to OU, I'd believe he'd be long gone as an option.
The change was necessary, but there is going to be collateral damage where you lose contact and become out of sight and out of mind with some guys.
That's why Vito Tisdale said it meant so much for Riley and Grinch to come down because it lets him know he's still a top priority.
And it's also why believe Jalen Huff will eventually head to Georgia Tech. It just doesn't sound like OU's new staff/direction includes Huff. Just so happens OU won't have to help him find a landing spot since Huff has that family connection with Ga Tech.
My pecking order (trying to read between the lines w/ OU & what's realistic)
- Kelee Ringo. No doubt. He's this year's Chris Steele/Dax Hill. You just wait and wait and wait and hope you've made the connection and stay relevant.
- Darion Green-Warren. Gotta keep him. Originally from Edmond, now a Mater Dei kid, have to keep that pipeline going after Criddell.
- Jacobe Covington. Strike now. Get him in the fold, get him recruiting Ringo, all that good stuff. He just feels like he'd become a face/voice of the class.
- Jahari Rogers. To me? Spring game weekend commit. Save it, make it go down that weekend. OU legacy, make the moment special.
- Vito Tisdale. I like OU, but a second visit is gonna be necessary. He was at #ChampUBBQ, and now we know the staff still wants him. But his profile has blown up in recent months, so again, gotta get him back to Norman.
- Dontae Manning. Is there room at the inn? That's my question. I feel pretty confident in believing OU will have Green-Warren, Covington and Rogers. Is Manning left out, then?
From there? We'll see what happens w/ Kourt Williams, Bryson Washington, Jerrin Thompson and Lathan Ransom. I think those guys are still open. But guys like Ryan Watts, Xavion Alford and Joshua Eaton? Think they're definitely Texas. So we'll see if OU tries to fill up the spot, or opts to see if the defense improves so much that "bigger" names come into the fold.
Good Q, @B EZ.
