Sooner Fan Roll Call

Oklabama, Ford transfers you a lot? Card carrying Choctaw granddaughter-in-law started with GM April 15, 2015 in Fargo, ND. In 14 months she transferred to Little Rock where she is south central regional sales manager. There are hints that Detroit could soon be her destination. We believe her to be the first Indigenous American to hold such a position at GM. We and the Choctaw Nation are proud.

My company used to do much business with Ford. How I miss watching workers race Rangers just off the assembly line to parking at St. Paul (now closed). And the paint shop at Taurus-Sable assembly in Atlanta (now closed) was something to behold.

Don't get me started on Shell.

Good to see you back, man. Hope you are making good progress with the homestead. Missed your music videos.
No homestead... I had been in Central Texas with the soon to be ex wife when Harvey hit. I got down to Victoria on the night of the 28th to help with tree removal, etc. After working one day, water from the Guadalupe River pushed back through a creek by the cabin I was at. We jumped into my truck and called 911. We weren't going to make it to the road. I killed the engine before I ruined it, then waited for the boat to come for us... The water was 3 inches from the roof when they got there. FEMA, SBA, and the Red Cross all say I don't meet the criteria for disaster relief. I'm curious as to what the criteria is. I lost a truck, all my tools, and most of my clothes due to Harvey... I stay with different friends and get side jobs... I'm going to be fine though. I'll have some wheels in a week, already have two cheap saws, and I'll go cut trees wherever the good Lord leads me...

I thought you were back home cleaning up. Sorry to hear all this and hate you are having to go though this. Bummer, man. I know you will come back strong. You are a gamer.

Ford transferred me 6 times in 6 1/5 years and my next move was either to Dearborn or Hempstead, NY. At that point I requested to remain in Houston. A senior officer of my division told me "in order to grow you must be willing to go where we feel you can be most beneficial". Well, even though each move except one was a promotion, I decided to resign because I knew that I probably wouldn't ever become what I wanted with Ford. But back then the companies like carmakers told you where to live, what to wear, and how you were to go about your job... there wasn't any other way. We all excepted that and didn't think too much about it. They said no facial hair so even though it became popular to sport a mustache, you didn't even consider it. I've never minded that kind of culture. I was compensated very well but I worked very hard. What's wrong with that? Within 5 years of leaving Ford, I was back in Oklahoma, living in my home town, working in the automotive industry as a VP and GM of one Oklahoma's most successful insurers. Evidentially I became president of a company that was a member of a $17B group working with clients like Ford, GM, BMW, Subaru, Hyundai and dealer groups like Red McCombs. I never would have achieved any of this without Ford. When I see what is going with today's college students and graduates, I have to wonder how many would do what we had to do to get and keep a job. As president I watched the culture change and wasn't sad to retire even though I was still valuable. It just wasn't fun dealing with employees that felt so entitled about such trivia matters. I have one more year to be available to the company for counseling. It's gotten worst since I left in 2015. Unbelievable what my successor has to deal with now. I always said I would have the best job in the world if could run the company with only 5 employees. Personnel and governmental crap are draining management resources, which causes problems for everyone. I'm sure Shell had similar issues as you probably know.

I'll make it my home again. I like it here. I had a good business before, and I will again. I am blessed with many good friends in the area. They keep me busy, fed, and a roof over my head for now... Not much more I could ask for...
