OFFENSE:
QB: Caleb Williams - 35 - Last week, I sort of got it, this week, it's a tougher pill to swallow. He's missing things that he found, he's got to find his confidence.
RB: Kennedy Brooks - 84 - Ran really well and should have had more.
WR: Jadon Haselwood - 60 - Solid day but not much work.
WR: Marvin Mims - 71 - Mims should have had more but was ok when he got looks.
WR: Mike Woods - 60 - Absent but don't think that is a reality that is on him.
TE: Brayden Willis - 55 - Didn't notice him all day, just not seeing the same level of work.
OT: Anton Harrison - 61 - Thought he was good in pass pro (sack excluded but McDonald is a player) but again struggled, again, moving anyone around in the run game.
OG: Marquis Hayes - 58 - Had some physical work early, thought he was alright.
C: Andrew Raym - 65 - Thought he was solid but really hope he's ok - that looked scary.
OG: Chris Murray - 40 - Just had some awful misses, including the would be first down winner early in the game.
OT: Tyrese Robinson - 50 - Him getting subbed off was fairly indicative - he didn't look good pulling today.
Offensive Average: 58.1 (639)
DEFENSE:
DE: Isaiah Thomas - 87 - Very active in the first half but, for the second straight game, kind of faded.
NT: Perrion Winfrey - 92 - Saving his best for last, another strong day for the big man.
DT: Jalen Redmond - 98 - Was the straw the stirred the drink, made everything happen.
RUSH: Nik Bonitto - 91 - Man, I don't know how you can be that good and be 'kind of' quiet but that's what it felt like.
LB: DaShaun White - 86 - Thought it was one of his better games as a Sooner.
LB: Brian Asamoah - 78 - Much more quiet than last week but steady.
NB: Justin Broiles - 45 - Stop me if you've heard this before...but it's unfair OU keeps putting him in these spots.
CB: Woodi Washington - 93 - Man, I thought he was absolutely nails for the Sooners made some great tackles in space, great coverage.
CB: D.J. Graham - 83 - Too bad he got injured was off to a nice start - not perfect, but solid.
S: Pat Fields - 87 - I actually thought he had one of his better days, even before the pick.
S: Delarrin Turner-Yell - 93 - Saved one of his best performances for last.
Defensive Average: 85.7 (943)
SPECIAL TEAMS:
K: Gabe Brkic - 50 - We need to a full Tin Cup intervention, including the tequila.
P: Michael Turk - 97 - This man is a flat out killer.
KR: Mario Williams - N/A
KR: Marvin Mims - N/A
PR: Eric Gray - 20 - Fumbles don't get good grades.
Special Teams Average: 55.7 (167)
Key Reserves:
RB: Eric Gray - 81 - He flashes when he gets touches in the passing game, maybe more of those?
HB: Jeremiah Hall 80 - Thought he had a solid day, made some plays in the passing game and blocked fairly well.
WR: Mario Williams - 84 - Rinse, repeat.
DT: Isaiah Coe - 82 - There's a part of me that thinks the NT spot will be better next year.
DE: Reggie Grimes - 76 - Was the first time in a few weeks he popped to me, saw him creating some consistent pressure.
RUSH: Marcus Stripling - 74 - It was just one play but hard to ignore how key that tip on the last drive was.
DB: Keyshawn Lawrence - 88 - It wasn't perfect but the guy caused the fumble return that ended up being the difference and far more. Simply put, he makes plays.
Reserves Average: 80.7 (565)
Team Average: 72.3 (2314)
My Team Grade: 74
Breakdown: I have plenty of issues with this performance but as I've been saying for a while now...it's time to accept who this team is and don't look down on a win - take what you can get.
The Sooners weren't perfect today but if the defense can bring that level of energy next week, there's a path for a surprise in Stillwater.
On the flip side they'll need some help from their offense if they are going to make that happen.
But again let's focus on the here and now. More than anything Caleb Williams has got to find his confidence whether it's scheme or whatever else he just looks so incredibly shaken right now. The offense around him isn't perfect but he's missing secondary reads that he was finding early in the year, it's just all very odd.
Scoring Standard:
100-82: Playoff Contender
82-74: Big 12 Title Contender
74-65: Bowl Game Participant
65-0: 'I'll be hoooome for Christmas
