Rattler responds well to haters.

Rattler’s focus of just the primary target is killing his pro possibilities. Plus he takes off running like a scared deer. These qualities will have to change. Nowhere even close to a Heisman candidate. Move Mims to outside receiver. And ride OL ass until change is realized. For the Coaches to say this is the best OL in years was outright lying.
Hell yes he's running. His starting Center was benched and replaced w/ a true Freshman in the Neb game, and his stating LT was benched in this one. The line was man-handled last game.

Too complex….what are these guys in the 8th grade? He’s probably running the same schemes that he did in 2017-2020.
A QB with no running threat, no use of TE/H-back, an offensive line with some lapses.

This is all LR. He has to make tough decisions: change approach, dial back or expand playbook, highlight the talents his current players have...etc. I do not believe the oline has been as suspect as some, the QB will not throw the damn ball (to a player or away) and the coach is not adapting to the cards he has been dealt.

This was a fixable situation but the lack of admitting the issues and working on them in non conference games was a horrible mistake. The only hope I have is Shamwow's possible theory of holding back.

Regardless I will "show up" each Saturday with hope and enjoy each win. I will say the team that started last year was a lost soul, and ended the season as a really good team.

I am tired of bitching. I will watch and hope to see improvement from players and coaches. I just want to see improvement and an attitude adjustment. Sooner Magic is usually a moment in a game, and we haven't had/needed in a while. It would be nice to sprinkle some on the remaining games, just enough for the players/coaches to find their way out of the woods.

I remember thinking that when we played against Georgia, Alabama, if only we had a defense. I hope that now that we are having a defense that Riley isn't changing his whole offensive thought process and trying to slow games down and relying more on his defense. That's not what I was hoping for as a fan. I was hoping for the same high octane offense but with the addition of a defense. It was going to be such a relief knowing we could score and not have to worry about the other team matching that score and more because our D was crap. I truly hope I'm wrong but I don't know.

Who is the true freshman center you reference? I thought Congel was replaced by Raym. Wanya Morris entered the game in Q/3 against WVU and our line play seemed improved. The OLine needs to find the right combo and start firing on all cylinders. Rattler will improve when the OLine jumps forward instead of falling back.

You're correct.

Tulane -
Anton Harrison - Left Tackle - New, backed-up in 9 games in 2020
Marquis Hayes - Left Guard - 2 year starter - 24 starts (All Big 12 First Team)
Robert Congel - Center - Arizona transfer (13 starts with abbreviated season)
Chris Murray - Right Guard - UCLA transfer (3 year starter - 29 starts with abbreviated season)
Tyrese Robinson - Right Tackle - 2 year starter - 25 starts

Latest Starters - No change
Backups
Erik Swenson - LT
Erik Swenson - LG - 4 star - 19 game starter and rated highest PFF of any OL in any bowl game
Andrew Raym - C - 4 star
Brey Walker - RG - 5 star
Wanya Morris - RT - Tenn transfer 5 star - 19 starts

We've got 9 guys in the 2-deep. I think all are 4-star or 5-star recruits. Heck, 2 of our backups were 5-star recruits.

The talent and experience should be there. There's just a lot of gelling required here.

You are correct! My apologies. Ryam is a Soph. You're also correct in that Rattler will improve when the line improves.

maybe the Oline is a little bitter about Rattler getting 2 new cars and hefty contract for not really doing anything but being a QB.

Naw... this is just not a line that is meshing. Despite their star rating, they are sucking it up. Perhaps the worst o-line for OU in the last 15 years. It's a patch work of guys that have been placed in positions by desperation to fill gaping holes. It's a mess.

The good news, Rattler put his head down despite the chants & completed 15 of 16 in the last two drives to put points on the board and earn the win. He has confidence in his game whether the fans do or not.

The Oline needs 5 guys playing the same position. Morris looked like he can handle the tackle and maybe Raym can become a mauler. Everyone had trouble with Stills, no matter where he lined up. Hayes and Robinson haven't looked great, IDK what's the issue with them.

I would think with our offense under Riley that at this point we would just be reloading on OL but here we are reinventing the wheel it seems. Very discouraging. Our OL looks atrocious, embarrassing.

I wonder if it's just so many transfer guys coming from different coaching and offenses trying to click with each other.

We have OU guys, UCLA, Tenn, and Arizona. A good player can look bad when someone they need to trust upon doesn't do their job correctly, and the guy doing it wrong can look good if they just commit wholeheartedly to what they're doing wrong.

Like driving - hesitation is worse than messing up. You can make a wrong move, but you can get yourself through it if you don't hesitate and panic about what you did wrong. It's the ones that make the wrong move AND hesitate that generally cause the accidents. Make a decision and commit to it.
