If not Brkic OU loses today. Yea he missed the chipped shot but his others are the difference in the game. If anyone gets the game ball it should be him
First game anything can happen, but I agree that was not satisfactory, and we won't even win the CC playing like that.

Maybe Riley should can the "Speed D" crap he's always promoting until we actually play good defense. Kind of embarrassing. Just watching the start of Bama/Miami game, Bama sure doesn't come out looking as inept and confused as we did today.

I agree that Riley seems to go vanilla with big leads but you have to hold Rattler accountable at the same time. Watch Alabama play and its ehy we all wish our Sooners played that way. They play 4 full quarters yet as we have seen in the past Rileys teams lack that. You can’t put that all on him though as it also falls on the players shoulders.
Bama has studs and a great coach. Even when assistants leave he just plugs in another and keeps rolling.
Given Riley’s soft n gooey play calling and inability to close games out...we seem to be destined for paper tiger status. He has great RB to utilize..,but his pass happy golly gee attitude is no good. He needs a slap to the forehead for almost letting this game get away. Sooners need to get their crap together.
To me that 4th and 1 in the 3rd qtr Riley went for and actually lost yds on was when the worm turned. It gave Tulane momentum and fired them up, they also had great field position and scored then went for 2 and got it. OU never seemed to recover from that. The D was playing decent at that point so its a head scratcher why Riley went for it especially after getting snuffed on the previous play when it was 3rd and 1.
I know most of what you say is tongue in cheek but its like every year we see Wash Rinse, Repeat. Get big leads and all of a sudden its like he loses his playbook or players go dumb. This why OU never has won a playoff game. In the game vs UGA and a game OU should have won Riley went conservative playing not to lose.
I think Riley is a great coach but man he has to learn to put teams away. NU looked to be a gimme after they lost to Ill but now I am not so sure. Glad its WC next though.
After what I saw today, I'd even worry about that game. 😁
The heat, the severe lack of depth at RB, especially minus RB Stevenson, and DE Perkins who rescued OU's season last year, a patchwork OL, a lot of youth, and the quality of the opponent were the main factors for OU's performance in my view.
Riley will be challenged this year and he's got a lot of work to do.

Our offenses are always best when we run to set up the pass. If we don't use next week to establish the run, it'll take well into the season for the OL to gel and it may cost us.
But frankly I'm tired of seeing a team that isn't aggressive for more than 1 or 2 quarters.

Riley is sorta woke if you ask me. It shows in him as a coach and the team as they play. I think he feels sorry and guilty when he gets a big lead and feels like he has to give the other team a chance to gain confidence

He's an SJW and clearly afraid of getting labeled as a villan who runs up the score. We let off the gas and the other teams keeps playing.
I’ve noticed the softness since he has been the coach. The first couple of years I blew it off as just being new to coaching and needing experience. Not so much now…….the pattern has never changed that I’ve seen, it’s just more prevalent. I don’t really expect a NC with him coaching, the killer instinct needed to win just isn’t in him and never will be. We were good enough with him to win a weak Big 12 conference and maybe a playoff appearance where a win there continues to escape him. In the SEC, OU is a 3-4 loss team every season until the impossible changes. Hold on to your ass……it’s going to suck
Riley obviously thought (and the team believed) this game was over at halftime. Tulane OTOH played all four quarters. Give Tulane credit and, hopefully, OU will realize the work that they clearly have cut out for them. At least the defense looked good for a quarter and we won. Otherwise, this would've been a loss we'd never live down like Michigan being beaten by Appalachian State.
Texas is struggling vs Louisiana, up 7-3....so this is not a good day to showcase the two blue bloods of the Big-12.

UL is currently at a historical high point. I still think Texas will win that game fairly easily, though.
Starting at the end of this month, OU has West Virginia, K-State and Texas. If they play like today, that's three losses in a row

Goes to show that great OC’s don’t necessarily make a great head coach. I’m my opinion Riley needed a HC like Saban riding his ass for a coupe of years like Saban did to Kiffin. That’s the only way Riley gets tougher and at this point I don’t think Saban’s coming here to be the Head Coach so……
Louisiana was 10-1 last year and returned all but two players. They're currently ranked #23. Moreover their coach is from the Saban tree and was offered 2 SEC head coaching jobs last year. Don't lump Texas in with your shit show. Texas 14-6 at half.

I was pointing out that Texas was playing a tough game as OU did. It wasn't a judgement of Louisiana at all.

Texas is better prepared, cleaner, and tighter. They still have serious concerns/issues. If LR doesn't win a playoff game this year the drums start beating. One of many concerns I have is when he as a coach has a period of time to prepare and there is not a consistent, razor edge approach...that is what it takes now.
