Louisville is one of our favorite cities and we're big Kentucky Derby fans, so we're having our first Mint Julep when Jeff Bridges comes on the tube with the traditional "Riders Up" call. The Dude definitely Abides.
Maybe you are getting to the age where we start repeating ourselves?I have no idea why this is the 2nd thread on the same subject.

Or Blame it on that last Mint Julep?

I'm right on the periphery of the Kentucky Derby madness.... in the Bardstown area. I always thought it was a horse race, but I've come to discover that it is two days of dressing in the most ridiculous manner imaginable, concluded by a horse race. The old man in the hotel lobby wearing a pink plaid sportcoat and a pastel green fedora won best of show in my book.
It's a thing. Truly.
One of the best times I've ever experienced was at the Derby. Next spring the wife and I are going back to Louisville on a road trip through Tennessee and Kentucky searching for that special distilled bourbon marker.
Vera...I probably should have gone, but the weather's been bad all week and I didn't want to venture it on my own. But that's just me..... three years in China and never went to the Great Wall. I'm getting to where I just don't want to be around hordes of people on days off.
But I'm not a curmudgeon. No way.
