OT Terrorist attack in NYC kills six injuries 15

Besides the political hot spots like North Korea, I would say the Northern Caucasus regions of the Caspian Sea (Chechnya), Nagorno Karabakh, Central Africa (Niger, Chad, Sudan). North Africa (Libya, Algeria), East Africa (Somalia & Ethiopia). Currently, the angry places like Syria are off limits but I spent quit a bit of time in Syria in late 80s developing a project for Shell. We work with major oil companies and they go to great lengths to evaluate the security risk. We evaluate every potential project individually internally. High risk is often very high reward. We poll our project people as well and let them make personal decisions. FYI: We lost five expats to terrorist in Algeria in 1995 on a job for Bechtel Corporation. This incident still resonates with many of us.

I can’t imagine what it would be like today had it not been for people in your industry willing to go to these regions to work. You know. You probably don’t want to share, but I would like to sit with you anytime you feel like talking about it.

Demand an answer?Really?,You can demand all you want but I don't have to answer.Go troll somewhere else.

That is one subject I don't care to debate all right?I never mentioned ANYTHING about the subject he did.

In your short time here, you've been pretty chippy. Relax fellow Sooner fan. Nobody here is out to troll you, especially me. When somebody mentions that the moral fiber of this country is degrading and that we are reaping what we sow, I try to get a better understanding of that person's beliefs. It's an exercise in understanding, not judging. I'm not going to try to change your mind about anything or argue with you about your beliefs. I apologize if the question was blunt. I asked it because of what you posted about how you see Sally Kern.

In the meantime, the perp wants a black isis flag in his hospital room & will be tried in New York City and (per Giraldo) will face the death penalty. In other news today Donna Brazile is dropping dime on Hillary for robbing the Burn of a legit shot at the D nomination (which the Don said correctly before the election)...
Civil Discourse, Of course

Sure, one day we will meet up somewhere near an OU game and chat. I took a flight from Dubai to Damascus on 3 July 1988. When I arrive I was taken to a room with no windows, spread eagle with no explanation, had my Sony Walkman crunched under boots and was held for 4 hours. My Arabic was not good enough to follow the conversation. I later learned that the USS Vincennes shot down an Iranian Air jet with 290 people on board, most were Emiratis as I recall. I was taken to my hotel and not allowed to leave until I had my return flight. A tall blond headed muscular American guy knocks on my hotel room door and tells me not to wear my Dallas Cowboys tee shirt while in Damascus. The USA did not have diplomatic ties to Syria so he had a "bridge" at the Swiss Embassy. I also learned that I was treated much better than many other Americans in Syria at that time. My partner in Syria was Jihad Kaddam, the eldest son of the then Vice President of Syria under Haffez Assad.

I can imagine. I hope your company had some specialists of their own that got some sort of justice for your associates. Thank you sir
The terrorist attacked our housing complex at night thinking everyone would be there. We had an Algerian security service that were no where to be found during the incident. The terrorist went to each two-man room and killed one guy and let the roommate watch him die. I won't provide details but suffice to say it was shear horror for the roommates. We were contracted to Bechtel. As I recall, Bechtel provided insurance coverage that was about $1 million per person and paid the family a salary for 20 years just as if the person was still alive. I will never have a bad word for anything Bechtel. We had three Scots in the plant that night that were doing extensive maintenance for the next day. Two of them were ex-SAS. They took it very hard.

I can look back at every detail of everyday for 40 years. I have kept a business diary every year since 1978. They are all lined up chronologically in my home/office in Arizona. One page/day book bound type. I write where I was at the top of the page. The diaries are often given to me by clients or are local from where I was at the time. I have diaries from/in Arabic, Italian, US, England, French, Russian, African & Singlish (Singapore English). If you and meet I will be able to give you details of that meeting 10 years later. I keep pretty detailed notes and don't often get challenged on my facts.

Amazing. That’s dedication and not easy to do. I have had to go to doing that myself for other reasons, but I can’t imagine doing it a lifetime. I’ve always enjoyed it when you shared your experiences here on the board. Thanks for those included in this thread.

My cousin in Missouri had a journal and he could tell me the exact day and what we did during the time we were there.I always admired him for that.I would do it but it would be so boring I would probably feel sad. Here lately though I made a vow to myself I would get off my butt and get going hence the search for a Corvette, LOL.
