OT: Ralph Northam thoughts

He’s a dumb ass that should have known better than to think his stupid college days would get by with this stuff in today’s political world. If you run for office nowadays you better be crystal clean......but who is if you have to own up to when your were a 14 year old junior high schooler. He’s done.

Yeah he is a Democrat so they will likely let him off the hook. A week ago they were calling for the death of a teenager that smirked.
Agree.
We won't be hearing words like "outrage" or "reprehensible" in describing his stupidity.
In issues of racism or sexual misconduct, the Left is immune from condemnation.....that also includes threatening behavior towards those of opposing views.
I expect the 2020 election year to be one that will make 1968 look peaceful.

[QUOTE="iasooner1, post: 2588774, member: 1784"UVa fans thoughts welcome here[/QUOTE]

UVa fans? The only fans who post here are a handful of OU fans and Horns looking for dates.

Regarding the thread topic, it's too late for this country... ...no need for a coup de'tat. Social engineering is doing the trick. The story will fade away because Northam isn't a conservative populist.

This morning I see people are upset because CNN put an (R) by his name? Why are they upset? The Republican party has proven once again they are the Dem's little bieches. Not much different between a legislative (R) and a (D) anymore.

Oklabama, get real, do you really think what we have for politicians in this country
are crystal clean? What we have for leadership today is like scrapping the bottom
of the barrow for decency, crystal clean ain't even close.

We all know that Jeremiah; that's the point that's been made abundantly clear by big brother. The kind of crap he pulled may have been common in '64 or even '74 but '84 ? WAAY beyond the pail of belief for a second that it's accepted and his career survives this. Only a Kennedy or a Clinton could pull it off

There are differences between Republicans and Democrats.

Republicans tend to have varying thoughts on most issues. You don't find most Republicans playing follow the leader You listen to Republicans and you hear different opinions and ideas.

On the other hand Democrats just play follow the leader. They all espouse the same stupid ideas. They all get the same story lines and spout the same propaganda. You listen to one Democrat and you hear the same ole thing about every issue.

What happened with Northram was him expressing his true thoughts on the expansion of the Virginia limits on abortion rights. The Kathy Tran who was the author of the Virginia legislation that would have allowed abortions up to the birth.

Ole dummy Northram simply explained the process as to immediately following the birth the mother and her doctor would discuss whether to keep the baby or "kill" it.

Killing a living baby who is breathing on his/her own in most Americans is simply to much to take.

Now the Democrats are going to have to walk this whole thing backwards. I really believe that the kind of legislation Kathy Tran wrote is very close to where the most Democrats would like to take the abortion issue.

I'm not convinced that this won't seriously hurt their chances come the 2020 elections.

This mess simply won't go away.

Where's a popcorn munching gif when you need it ?

Now the moron is claiming; "wait, that wasn't me in that photo" even after apologizing for it yesterday; incredible !

Weak sauce. Not buying his explanation. And if it wasn't him, then why post it on his yearbook page? He's trying to walk it back and it's not working. Do the right thing and step down.

Just as a follow up to the above I think that if Trump can reach a good trade agreement with China that the US economy will continue to expand and grow.

I don't like the manner Trump uses. However, when it comes to policy I think he is exceptional. He is fearless. He tackles the really hard issues and does it regardless of which way the political winds are blowing.

I've been involved in Agriculture for most of my life. A good trade deal with China will really boost the Agriculture sector in this country.

This ^ It sounds like they are going to take billions of tons of soy; as we bailed China out (and Russia too) in WWII the two of them should play nice but are now poised to hate each other for some reason. (they laugh at any attempt for a "New Green Utopian effort") The far left loons and a possible independent will split the vote in 2020; it's my hope Trump turns over the reigns to Ivanka...

By no means am I defending Northam, but isn't it sad that indiscretions made early in life can bring a person down many years later ?
Consideration is no longer given to how a person who made a mistake in youth could learn from mistakes and become a better person. Isn't that a part on most persons' lives ?
Above and beyond maturing from our early years, aren't we better people NOW having learned some lessons the hard way during our youth ?

I know this to be true. My only point was if you decide to run for office your past life will become an open book. Everyone knows what they’ve done so weigh whatever it was that you wouldn’t want to come to light before jumping in. This guy should have anticipated this and been more prepared to address the incident. Especially after what Brett Kavanaugh had just gone through. Yesterday’s press conference was BS. He would have immediately known that was not him in the photo. Best thing for anyone that gets caught is to own up to it ASAP. Trump and Ted Kennedy are about the only SOBs that have somehow become exempt from their past. Ask Gary Hart how that worked out for him.

Agree, one must ideally be "clean" to serve as a politician....but being "clean" is as much about being able to hide mistakes, as it is actually being free of mischief.
I have a disdain for virtually all politicians. They're concerned with making a name for themselves and winning re-election by any means. They are whores to their parties and can change an opinion on a dime to suck in votes (Isn't that right Hillary ?).
The word "statesman" is now used the same way "dinosaur" is. That is, something that is extinct.

While it’s always been this way to a large degree, I don’t remember it being this bad. Biggest difference, IMO, is the absence of willingness to work collectively to fix a problem both parties agree needs attention. Screw the wall. Fix the immigration laws that allow one step upon US soil to give an illegal the right to enter. Ports of entry only. Otherwise, sent back immediately.

You make way too much sense. You have no political career waiting for you.

Well it won't be much longer now; Hellary and all the media are finally on board and the dope won't shut up and walk away. Still, 30+ y/o 'racism' (Blazing Saddles anyone ?) >> 'extremely late-term' abortion/infanticide.

PS. I could potentially get behind Tulsi for obvious reasons...

No doubt we need to fix the immigration law. However, that just gets us to the point where we have a legal path for immigrants to come to America and become legal citizens. In the fix, we need language that provides for those who want to immigrate to the US come from a broad spectrum of the world, not just from South America.

Still, with a sound immigration policy that doesn't prohibit those coming up to our borders and illegally entering our country. There are parts of the border where the Border Patrol simply can't stop the illegals from crossing into our country. Over the years, I have spent a lot of time along the Texas and Arizona border and it is simply physically impossible for the Border Control Agents to catch them all.

Over the recent years, we have more than doubled the number of Border Patrol Agents and we still don't have enough.

Walls, that are effective in the short time are expensive to build. However, once you have Walls with current technology they are extremely effective. My guess is that we currently have close to 35,000 Border Patrol Agents. Their cost to us is enormous. The average salary of Border Patrol Agents is close to $75,000 each per year. On top of their salary there are the vehicles and ATVs that they have in order to traverse the desert and hilly topography. Then you have all that maintenance and fuel that they require. Traveling on that topography is a vehicle killer.

With the Wall you have mostly a one-time expenditure. With the Border Patrol Agents once you hire them you never get rid of them. It just becomes more bureaucracy that will never go away.

Please name one US Government employee that you know that lost their jobs due to Congress cutting the cost or number of employees. It just doesn't happen.

Insightful CTOkie. Yet I think the Virginia Governor has proved the fact that he is a racist. In addition to the pictures of a KKK guy and a white man wearing black face in his yearbook page, his nickname was "coonman" given to him by his friends back in the1980s. Also he admitted he also wore at a different time blackface with him playing Michael Jackson.

Then there is long time racist Iowa Republican in the US house Steve King who last week GOP Majority leader Kevin McCarthy and others in his GOP house conference said about King.. "Steve's language now and in the past is reckless, wrong, racist, and has no place in our society and we will get GOP candidates to run against him in 2020.". "King has had a long history of controversial comments about race and immigration and he said more in the last week".
It was good to hear several in the GOP speaking out against Steve King and the dems speaking out against the Virginia Governor.

Being Racist is not an accepted part of each of the two political parties or a part of being a decent human being. .

Very insightful CTOkie.

Well said.

Read my above post and link, watch the video. If he leaned from his mistakes back then he sure has not shown it here in the present. He is nothing more than a hypocrite that when running for Governor he called the GOP Racists and Evil People and then said he and his party were the Good Guys.
That friggin commercial is proof he is still a low life scumbag.

I have no doubt that the Virginia Governor is a lowlife racist scumbag and its GREAT to see the dems wanting him removed. I have not heard of any democrat who now does not want him fired.

The same way its GREAT to see the GOP wanting Iowa US House Republican Steve King gone who is also lowlife racist scum. He also does not have now any GOP support.

I do too, but my concern is, if Trump wins in 2020, there will be an uproar from the Left that will make the backlash we've seen since Trump took office look pale in comparison.
I can see the nation becoming even more divided and people getting hurt or killed.....and more pimping bad politicians and/ demonizing opposing parties by the media, Hollywood and the politicians themselves.
The "swamp" gets more contaminated with each election.
