I know we rip the impact of NIL daily on this board- and probably deservedly so- but today we experienced one of the positives of NIL. Kentucky national POY Oscar Tshiebwe, who was recently cleared to receive NIL as a foreign student visa athlete, just announced he is returning to KY for his SR season. Only the 3rd consensus POY to return to college in the last 40+ years. Without getting into how KY got him from WVA, Tshiebwe returning would have NEVER happened prior to NIL.
To me, this is how NIL should work and how it can make the game better, especially college basketball. If we can get more talent staying in college, it only strengthens the college game and ultimately the NBA. Not saying NIL is great, but it's nice to see at least one case of how it can improve college sports.
