They are only showing the women's gymnastics at Lloyd Noble, but on the other end is Sooner wrestling simultaneously. The gymnastics is a three way meet between OU, Iowa State and Arizona State. In the second rotation. ASU is pretty good so far. OU leads.

I have a gif for that.....................HA!

Actually, I love both sports. Amazing what those gymnastics can do...

That worked so well that they should do it again.

The OU wrestling team, which hasn't been all that impressive in recent years, looked better than I have seen them look in several years. They were aggressive in winning 28-9 over Iowa State. OU was close in the three losses, and tended to dominate in the wins which included two pins and a major decision (Brewer). Jeffries and Larson got the pins.

The women finished with a 197.435, their third straight 197+ finish. They are beginning to get closer to tournament performances. Iowa State finished second, and #11 Arizona State finished third, both with 193.XXX scores, far behind OU.

Breanna Dowell is absent this year to work with the Olympic gymnastics team.

Interesting what you said about Dowell. Last year, OU didn't have any all around gymnasts even in the conference meet. They talked tonight on the broadcast about a barely better than average Iowa State girl who won the conference title in all around, because OU didn't have an all around.

Unless it's changed, international gymnastics and the Olympics have always only included all around gymnasts. So to compete, Ms Dowell would have to be competitive in all four events.

Dowell was already an all-around gymnast when she came to OU. It is a matter of depth vs team needs.

If you are competing for the national title, you may not use an All-around gymnast or encourage your performers to be all-around stars. You need the six best gymnasts that you have on each event. Thus, if Dowell were really good on the floor and uneven bars, as she was, do you want her to take the time to develop a vault or beam program? Will she be one of your six best gymnasts on each event? We tied for a national title. That means that sacrificing 0.1 point for a less than stellar performance just so she can be in the all-around might cost you the team title.

That being said, OU has two all-arounders this year: Cayse Capps (Jr) and Keeley Kmieciak.
