how good would this offense have been if DGB stayed and played. Or do you feel he would have been a distraction/ non team player ?

Good question.

All indicators were that he was indeed his own biggest fan. I think it worked out best just as it happened.

This team is unique in that there are no apparent prima donnas...that always creates dissension within the ranks.

This unit is the essence of the TEAM concept.

I think the only party that would have benefited from DGB staying is DBG. He could have stayed and improved his draft stock for sure. He was a very late 2nd round pick if I remember right?? But as far as the OU team, OU made it to the playoffs without him, so not like him being absent really hurt anything. OU's sole loss against Texas it's not like he would have made the difference there. So really even if he had stayed it would have been a non-factor for the team overall.

I didn't hear anything negative regarding DGB during his time he spent at OU. I think he would have adapted and bought into the whole team concept. Last year's team? Maybe. Maybe not. But this year's team has a leader in Mayfield unlike last year and w/ Mayfield throwing the ball to him, I think both are sharp enough to see and understand the big picture. He also would have been doing everything he possibly could to have a huge year before his eventual draft to the NFL. With Shep & DGB both in the line up, this offense would have been scary crazy. Perine, Mixon, Shep, DGB, & Mayfield. Wowza!

But having said this, it wasn't to be.

I don't know. I think DGB is a Dez Bryan primadona type. I'm surprised we even took him at all, but seeing what happened last year, I think we were desperate.

I agree that we were desperate but serious question, why do you think he was a primadona? Unless I missed something, I never heard any negatives or bad press on him while at OU. Like Mixon, they both kept there heads down and stayed out of the lime light & headlines.

My honest opinion (and it's just that, not fact) is what he did at Missouri. It was because he was busted not once but twice with the Gang and the 2nd time being a pound.

He obviously put that before his team, his future plans and anything else. To me, you don't do that if you are anything less than selfish. So Primadona...mine comes before yours and yours doesn't matter if it doesn't mesh exactly with mine.

I dunno, maybe not such a primadona, maybe just a dick. Either way...he never played a down and it wouldn't have mattered. :/

The OU - DGD deal was weird at best. Lucky it turned out as it did.

I heard the parents had a big part of the transfer. They hated what happened with him at Mizzou and reached out to Bob for help. It didn't work out for us, but it apparently did for DGB. I bet it doesn't go unnoticed by parents of recruits in the future.....JMO.

Maybe, but I am very happy with this team without DGD. His stats weren't that great at Missouri. Good but not great. I guess he is doing okay in the NFL so it worked out for him.

We don't need that baggage. We have a great team as it is without him. I wouldn't trade anyone for him.
